so much fun!!. the details in food, atmosphere and venue are exquisite!! the venue is very fun with great decorations and a lot of thought put into unique customization with nerdy themes :) we tried some fusionsushithat both had a wonderful presentation and work really well for sounding very weird. the first thing i usually do on a burger is pull off the bun. this burger was amazing, perfect thickness of rye to match the very well blended toppings. i am so glad i don't live closer, we would be here all the time, broke and several sizes bigger :)

this is a review of a restaurant named the cowfishsushiburger bar located in raleigh, north carolina. they have four other locations in the country located in charlotte, atlanta, birmingham and orlando. the raleigh location is open from 11 am to 11 pm everyday except friday and saturday when they stay open an hour later. we visited last saturday around 4:30 pm. it was very busy already, but we were able to get a table right away. shortly after we arrived everyone had to wait for a table. if you don't want to wait for a table, you'll need to miss the lunch and dinner rush by arriving before or after the busiest hours. free garage parking is available in the building. after parking, take the elevator to the lobby. when you get off the elevator walk into the lobby, walk to the other side of the building, go outside and the restaurant will be on your left. there is also some parking on the street, but not many spaces.

pretty disappointed.  the parking was fine due to the large parking deck next door, and the location is developing into a nice place.  interior looks nice and has cute cowfish oriented renditions of famous art pieces.  large fish tank in the center by the bar gives interesting ambiance.  staff was friendly.  the waiter, aaron, was polite and attentive.  the problem here was the food which was a big surprise considering how many of our friends rave about it.  i ordered the texas longhorn burger and my wife got the fusion bento box.

her box came with three sides a slider and half of a normalsushiroll.  the problem with the box is that you get a very generic slider with no frills and choice of three basic rolls.  while the food was good, it was nothing special and not a great way to showoff the food.  not really worth it considering there is more side dish than main portions.

my burger, ordered medium, came out nearly raw inside so had to send it back.  they brought my fries back out while they made me another burger and i have to say they were extremely tasty.  not sure what they seasoned them with but was a nice change of pace.  a long while later i got my replacement burger and while it was no longer raw it was cooked to between medium and medium well.  the bigger issue is that the outside was heavily charred and made it so bitter i was unable to eat but half of it.  i like a little char on the burger, but this was just ruined.  also, the bacon was a jalepeno bacon and it had a very off-putting taste.  overall it was just not a good eat.

everyone talks it up so we might try again, but this was a rather poor experience.

so i still love this place i just didn't like my menu choice. trying to eatsushion a sandwich just isn't.....smart or easy. the food was still good, but i did not prefer the presentation. i tried to take the bartender's advice and cut the flatbread horizontally to eat it. everything just slid out the back end, so i ate with a fork which wasn't as good. i will stick to what i know from now on.

we are there last night. i didn't leave hungry! the truffle fries were amazing!! i had a burger and it was delicious. was it the best burger i've ever eaten? probably not, but it was a great burger. perfectly cooked! pickle chips on the side... yum! ended the evening with the chocolate caramel espresso malt...the best!!! our party had a variety of meals from salads tosushiand everyone loved it...except 1. he ordered filet and i don't believe he realized it was sushi. he did eat one as soon as it got to the table and gave the dish right back to the waitress. *totally weird moment* they offered to make him anything else free of charge, he refused. the manager came out and personally offered to make him anything, he refused. the manager came out again and apologized and gave him a gift card to come and eat another time to give it another try. (once he walked away, he gave it to his wife because he's never going back.) these people went way above and beyond to try to please this guy. what fantastic customer service! ( i felt bad for them and quite frankly was a little embarrassed that he was being such a giant 50 yo baby.)

i would definitely go back. there is a different burger i want to try...

i wanted to hate it but its good. i wanted to hate this place with the disneyland atmosphere and chain restaurant vibe but the food is very interesting and consistently good!!! i think the reviewers that didn't like it couldn't get over the noise and tacky decor because i have eaten there 6 or 7 times now and have never been let down. i eat a lot ofsushiand their quality is in the top 80% but the portions are very large and the presentation excellent. the appetizers and specialty dishes can be a little complicated but satisfying. they always tell you longer than the wait will be and there are always empty tables while they are on a wait (?) so i think they just try and pace the seating with the kitchen performance. everyone is very friendly and the food comes out fast. could do without the gong!

i had found cowfish on urbanspoon and thought it sounded interesting…sushithat looks like burgers and burgers that look like sushi… or something like that. anyway my brother said he had been once and wouldn’t mind going back, so that was our pick. the location is interesting. it’s at the bottom of the 17-story captrust tower in the north hills shopping / dining / residential / entertainment / office complex… less of a complex and more of a district . it’s easy to miss the first time because it doesn’t look like a restaurant initially… but once you know it’s in the tower, it’s impossible to miss. one of the first things you notice when you walk in is a very large and elaborate fish tank in the middle of the restaurant. apparently it was featured on an animal planet show called “tanked.” you can watch the clip  here  if you’re curious. the restaur

eating at cowfishsushiburger bar is like eating inside a pinball machine. it’s bright, it’s loud, chipper urbanites bounce off one another on the way to the bar (free ball!) and the bathroom (double bonus!), and everybody watches the big scoreboard, where their assigned cartoon fish get closer to the lcd surface while they wait—and wait and wait—to finally be seated (high score!). but tune out the frenetic motion and noise and just groove on the burger, and you’ll be at the table all night. the boursin burger was a fine example of burgerdom. the patty was properly cooked with just a little char around the edges, and th

as the entrees start coming out, it’s visually impressive. big plates full of food and interesting presentation makes for a spectacle. my brento box comes with some steamed edamame, sweet potato fries and spicy cucumber slices along with thesushiand mini texas longhorn burger. i start with the sides, the edamame is decent but lacks a bit of salt, the cucumber slices are nicely done with some spiciness

the cheesecake factory ofsushirestaurants.
i mean that both positively and negatively. the food here is on par with higher end chain restaurant quality food--in large portions and pages of it. in this area, they are unique in their concept of servingsushi& burgers which is fantastic for them. and kudos on the location--north hills gets better every year.
i love that there are alternatives available to the health-conscious patrons but careful, they add sauce to nearly everything. the quality of the fish is not impressive but, it is not bad. i have always been pleased with the service but also feel terribly sorry for them for having to remember an incredibly extensive menu of such mediocre food.
i will likely be back simply because of convenience of location and the fact that i can create a really healthy roll of my own.

a few friends get together and decide to go out.  but then . . . i want sushi.  i want a burger.  well, i want a 10 ounce exotic martini! has this ever happened to you  maybe not exactly but you get the idea.  take popular concepts that are worlds apart and bring them together with a weird flair and you have the cowfishsushiburger bar.  there’s a reason no one thought of this idea before – it’s a strange combination.  strange, weird or worlds apart it doesn’t matter because it works.  the clever menu ideas and the crossing of the two concepts help to make it work, but when it’s all said and done cowfish delivers.  a clean restaurant, attentive service, quality menu items with striking presentations and colorful décor give you a reason to want to return and experience cowfish again. it’s not often you see a restaurant on urbanspoon rated 89% by nearly 1,300 people.  these folks found a winning combination that is truly unique.  be prepared because the place will be packed.

my favorite elements of cowfish are undoubtedly the atmosphere and unique menu offerings. the food is delicious, but very pricey. if they had bogosushii'd be there every other week, but unfortunately at around $20 for one roll and half an appetizer this is a special outing kind of place.

wow! if ever there was a word to describe the perfect restaurant for my wife and i, it would be cowfish. one that so deftly creates a perfectly sloppy burger for me, and artfully rolledsushifor my wife. we tried the ahi tuna nacho's, awesome. mini burgers, phenomenal. the spicy korean chicken sandwich, sublime. and the best pickle chips since the penquin. this place will forever be one of our goto restaurants. great job and welcome to raleigh.
