our first time at the bridgewater mill. it’s a lovely old building, with tables in the mill and in the annex. it was really cold the night we dined, not sure if that is usual or the heating had issues that night. they did bring portable heaters. food was nice, not outstanding. pork was over cooked, but the prawn tempura were huge and delicious. dessert platter was fantastic. waitstaffwere brilliant.

my special birthday lunch at bridgewater mill restaurant last saturday and this is what i experienced::

fine dining was let down with ugly heavy cut off bottles for drinking water.
when the food tastes strange and is not eaten some enquiry from the waitingstaffshould rectify this problem immediately and replace it.
waitress was aware but sadly there was no response and i went without a lunch that was my birthday present from my family.
we were still charged the full amount!   i didn't want to make a fuss in front of my family.  so you can imagine i was mightily disappointed and my treat ruined.  i will avoid your restaurant in future.  jaz storey

poor service.stafflooked down their nose when we walked in and totally ignored us. we were dressed well, however they seemed disinterested and were more interested in talking amongst themselves than serving us. we did buy three bottles of wine after we asked to be served. had thestaffbeen more attentive and interested we had spent more $$$$. very disappointing experience.

back again. by a fortunate coincidence we returned here for a lunch a week after a previous visit! 4 adults this time and so the drinks bill really added up! however if you are going to visit a restaurant like this you should be aware it's going to cost.

away from the $ side of things the food was brilliant (again) and the wine offerings matched perfectly. we had a differentstaffmember looking after us this time and again i just couldn't justify any of the comments by previous reviewers. the service was friendly, helpful and very good - certainly not stuffy or arrogant. i won't detail the goings on with our party however much fun was had!

so, be prepared for a large bill but the food and wine is superb so take out a second mortgage and enjoy yourself! i

still excellent. 3 of us for lunch on a friday - including a 13 year old who fancies himself as a bit of a gourmet!

we had no criticisms at all, other than perhaps the desert wine we so liked wasn't available at cellar door! ok it was expensive but we knew that! the service was friendly, efficient and welcoming. we even overheard what we judged as a rather picky complaint from a nearby table and thestaffwere responsive friendly and courteous with that customer!

food was of an impeccable standard - a magic "soup of the day", scallops and quail sausage entrees did not disappoint. duck with fungi, snapper, and lamb rounded out the mains very nicely. an alcoholic dessert also went over very nicely with one of the adult diners!

could not fault the service as stuffy or the food style as old or past it and i would highly recommended this restaurant for anyone looking for a special adelaide hills lunch - in summer the deck outside can be brilliant but being winter it wasn't open. there were however a couple of open fires to keep us snug and add character!

stiffer than stiff. ok so the food is high art and the prices are up there so maybe this isn't an everyday diner. but really the 80s were over a long time ago and i thought we had weeded out all the disapproving waitstaffwho deigned to serve us back then. great food and a beautiful space but management andstaffboth exhibit an arrogance that doesn't endear it beyond it's technical achievements.

cozy afternoon. gorgeous surroundings - the old mill still has character. the dining room is an atrium with a log fire which was cozy. the menu is limited however, all the meals were delicious and perfectly cooked. the service was great, thestaffwere there when we needed them but we were left to chat. hats off to the dessert chef - all the desserts were beautifully presented and were moreish...

on a sunday it is a set 3 course $90 deal (you can pick anything off the al a carte menu).
