nice people. great food.. we tried the bigeggfor breakfast yesterday and it was delicious. we told the lady who took our order (the owner i believe?) that it was our first time and she was very gracious about walking us through the menu and recommending a few things to try. we got a breakfast wrap with bacon and tillamook cheddar and the monte cristo. both of them were amazing! i especially liked the monte cristo - although the cheese that came with it was a little strong - when we go back, i'll ask for no cheese. but other than that, no complaints!! nice people, great food! and check out the juice cart parked next to them - an excellent addition to your breakfast!

the bigeggfood cart eschews the more populated downtown portland pods to serve up breakfast on the go from the congregation at mississippi marketplace.
the giant, yolk colored cart shines brightly as it reflects the sunlight. and inside? well, inside is where the magic happens. the bigeggis basically one big shrine to the most important meal of the deal, with — surprise, surprise — the humbleeggas the chief deity.

the bigeggthere are a number of great food carts in portland. one of the ones that stands out is the big egg. simple cart with a simple menu, which is executed perfectly. a must visit cart especially if you like a greateggsandwich!

classy food on wheels. the bigeggcan compete with the best of them when it comes to breakfast. boy was i skeptical when my daughter-in-law suggested going to a breakfast food cart--and boy was she right on (good pick, sarah)! my portlander of two perfectly prepared fried eggs over easy on delicious grand central brioche with stone ground mustard, gorgonzola, and chives was outrageously good. if i lived in portland i'd be there at least one morning a week.

best monte cristo ever!. my wife and i have been trying to visit the bigeggfor months, in order to try their monte cristo sandwich. the first time we ever tried a monte cristo was at the blue bayou restaurant at disneyland. obviously, every monte cristo we've tried since that day has not stood up to the ridiculously high quality of that disney meal.

that is, until today. we stopped by mississippi marketplace on a food cart crawl, and the first thing we ordered was a monte cristo sandwich. we were totally willing to wait twenty minutes for it to be made...and it was absolutely worth it.

at the big egg, a monte cristo is made with vanilla cardamom brioche french toast, containing black forest ham, gorgonzola cheese, maple glaze and topped with a dusting of powdered sugar. all three of us were smitten with the complex flavors of this amazing sandwich (even my non-pork eating sister!). it is both rich and subtle, intense and light, all around the perfect monte cristo sandwich.

we will definitely be back to try the other tasty breakfast options at the big egg.
