i visited for my end of exam meal! lucy was extremely helpful and very nice to chat to!the food was fanatic and the drinks amazing! let’s get lucy that bottle of wine!!!

been meaning to go for ages and it was so worth the wait. cool interior, buzzing atmosphere. good choice of food and tasted so good, cocktails are very nice and really deliver the show from smoke to bubbles to foam, you name it. we were served by daniel and he was super helpful, knowledgeable and attentive. great night and will definitely be coming back. cocktails are something you should try at least once. very unique.

been coming here since 2 years and have never had any complaints.the food is fantastic and the staff are always friendly and helpful.chilly chicken masala to die for.

dim lighting throughout coupled with lots of old apothecary props gives this a really smart and intriguing atmosphere. busy poular place gives it a good bustling but relaxed atmosphere. bottle of wine served up in a chiller of dry ice was a fun unexpected touch. as was the rolled up bill in a wee medicine bottle and drinks served in smoking copper kettles. food was good too as was the service. top evening and good find after trawling round various eateries.

evening in manchester and decided to eat and drink in the alchemist. staff are great, attentive, efficient and nothing is too much trouble. we had delicious starters and mains and 4 gorgeous cocktails. £70 so reasonable too! we will be back.

had been here with friends for dinner. good music good drinks and tasty nibble food. the main course has a good variety and staff is very kind. reservations are recommended before the visit.

the rating is all for the ambience and taste of food and the drinks (off course!) they are fancy. but i had far too high expectations from the place. (somehow not that satisfied)

i particularly did not find the staff to be helpful in suggestions, as for someone who visits the place for first time.

the ambience is too good ! would love to go again & explore more. give it one more chance!

all dem cocktails! really brilliant bar with plenty of choice for everyone. always make a habit of heading to the alchemist when in manchester. the steak sandwich is something else, with chips and gravy on the side what else do u want?!

the alchemist is wizardry when it comes to cocktails and the imagination, and i couldn't help feeling it had come out of a movie set! think molecular madness combined with handcrafted cocktails with ingredients that i have not even heard of. 

manchester, and in particular spinningfields has a wonderful combination of old and new restaurants as well as cuisines to impress any tastebud, but this particular bar has an old-school class to its ambiance that squeals after-work corporate. 

for me, the winner of the day was the summer of love, a grey goose and chenin blanc creation combined with black grape and pink grapefruit liquer.

this weekend, i met up a few friends for brunch and we decided to try the alchemist on new york street. i love a good cocktail and rumour has it, that this is the place to go to for a cocktail that’s out of this world. i wasn’t going to miss out on that was i? yes it was 12.3o pm on a saturday but so what? it’s never too early for a cocktail! i like the relaxed ambience at the alchemist. it’s not too pretentious and it’s not your average burger joint either – its just about right for a laid back brunch at the weekend or for drinks and some grub after a long day at work. it’s sophisticated yet relaxed without trying very hard to be either and i love that about this living ventures property. we were immediately served by the friendly maître d’ upon arrival and was promptly seated in one of the very comfy leather couches in the restaurant. i love the subtle hints of the restaurant’s theme, the conical flask salt and pepper shakers, the specimen boxes on the tables for condiments, the vats

those who know me, know that i am not a creature of habit, yet that are one or two locations in manchester that i keep returning to. the alchemist is one of those, so i was very excited when i was invited to try out their food menu this weekend. i have been there countless times for after-work drinks; the seemingly endless cocktail list perfect for my varied tastes. i surprised myself when i realised that i had never eaten there, so off i went to check out what they had to offer and i was more than impressed.

if you ever want to taste magic, visit the alchemist. there are some geniuses who work behind the counter with alcohol as if it were chemicals in a laboratory. try the caramelised apple, dead red zombie and the old fashioned smoky.

one negative: the ambient light was a bit low for my liking. else it would be a five stars

the alchemist has a great selection of spirits, all stacked on a bar shelf that towers high up towards the ceiling.
their most renown cocktail often include diy mixes to cause chemical reactions, often including cold boiling, dry ice and colour change.... of course i had a smoking boilling flamboyantly colour changing cocktail. which to my absolute surprise also ended up tasting rather delicious.

the alchemist is a great up market bar i'm central manchester with a drink for absolutely everyone. a lot of fun, highly recommend it.

sadly the hash browns were on the greasy side and the purists (see pedants) might ask why they’re on an english breakfast plate. the prosecco in the bellini was fine but the strawberry caviar was pretty without adding anything in terms of flavour.
