first timer. while wondering around fells on a weekday mid afternoon in december, i was directed here by a stranger. if i knew her, i would offer my sincere thanks.

it was cold and windy out, i walked in, was met warmly by hostess and directed to a small table in the corner. good. knowledgeable waiter soon showed up with great suggestions, i ordered a ginny lynn to drink - and the lobster roll with the baked hubbard squash side.

everything was fresh, well presented and tasted great. the drink was potent made with freshly squeezed grapefruit juice, it took the edge off my otherwise inauspicious day.
the lobster roll, while on the small side was quite filling. the bread was crisply toasted, the butter drawn. baked hubbard squash was an excellent and unexpected side.
i have already recommended thames st to several friends

amazing all the way around. we had guests with us from nyc and could not have had a better dining experience and a fine example of baltimore fare. the food and service was stellar and our wait staff person was so knowledgeable about the food and wines.

make reservations or be prepared to wait. great oyster selection and knowledgable staff. we only had sandwiches for our dinner entrees - the clam roll, and lobster roll. small portions, but very tasty. the cucumber salad side dish was excellent.

thames street rocks. thames street oyster house in fell's point, baltimore
we came over to fell's point on the water taxi and as soon as we got off the boat i fell in love with this whole area.  so many shops and restaurants and we lucked out finding thames street oyster house, what a find!  we just wanted something light to eat and some drinks so we sat at the bar and ordered from the raw bar.  fabulous fresh oysters and shrimp and lobster tail.  they have a large variety of oysters.  they also offer other shellfish at the raw bar but we didn't want to overdo it but i could have sat here all day and indulged on the wonderful shellfish and the potent drinks (the way i like them).   we stopped at a couple other places in the area that day but this by far was my favorite.

wonderful first visit. my boyfriend and i were in baltimore last week and i made sure to do loads and loads of restaurant window shopping before we headed there. we're from west virginia, and you just can't find good, fresh seafood around here.

thames street oyster house is located in one of the best locations in fell's point. it's right by the water down a cobblestone road. the restaurant itself isn't anything fancy. but it's nice and intimate. we were seated on the second floor, and the only thing really bad was that you could hear the raucous from the patrons down on the first floor.

we started with the grilled rock octopus salad. pretty good, but had too much olive sauce for me. if you like olives, i'm sure you won't mind it. my boyfriend also had a few oysters and said they were fantastic.

for our entrees... i had the whole 1 1/4lb main lobster. it's split and grilled and served with the claws on top. it also came with grilled asparagus. i added a side of red skin potatoes and it was all just enough. this was my first lobster, and it was fantastic! my boyfriend had the bouillabaisse. it has mussels, top necks, white fish, shrimp and squid in it with a saffron tomato bouillabaisse broth over noodles. the noodles were his only complaint about the dish. they were huge and hard to eat.

after, we had the creme brulee, which was excellent.

we'll be back!

if i could love it, i would.. fantastic! everything from the raw bar was excellent! had about a dozen and half raw oysters (they had 15 different kinds). they were all shucked expertly, no shell and loads of juice in each. and the crabcake sandwich was really great as well. so happy that we stopped here for lunch before leaving baltimore.

we will definitely be returning to the thames street oyster house.

awesome!!!. the list of oysters to choose from is very impressive. they also provide a description of how each oyster tastes and that was fun as well. the descriptions were spot on to the oyster's flavor.

our group had the lobster roll, crabcake sandwich and oyster po-boy. all of the sandwiches were great with the nod going to the lobster. i am not a big lobster fan and i thought it was great.

the service was top notch as well. we liked it so much that we went twice while in town. we don't normally do that as we like to try different places.

simple is good; complex is bad. superlative crab cakes, good/moderately priced wine list. oysters exceptionally fresh and great selection. however shucker got shell pieces in most oysters - big no-no. apps were less successful. scallop "ceviche" was actually boiled and the scallops were hard and dry. had to send these back to kitchen. replaced with grilled octopus, actually a small tower of cheese, peppers, some other ingredients, with a few pieces of octopus hiding in the pile. not terrible, but we felt cheese didn't go well with octopus. more octopus in this dish please! this place excels with simply prepared, fresh seafood. but it fails when the chef gets too inventive. friendly, knowledgeable service.

awesome!. i've been here twice now and thoroughly impressed both times. the selection of oysters is phenomenal and the prices are reasonable. they're the only place around that carries west-coast kumamoto oysters, or the only one i've found so far. the entrees are great - i had the monkfish - excellent. service is great. just an overall great experience. we will be back

blue moon. you know how just once in a blue moon, you go out to eat and you order food that is
so amazing that you want to make each mouthful last, close your eyes and moan (inwardly)
well, try this place.
we sat outside on a beautiful sunday, ordered from the oyster bar, had the octopus appetizer, the
shrimo ceviche and the mahi sandwich. the waitress was so helpful, taking time to describe the merits of
each oyster from the extensive selection.
planning on going back asap. you can throw away hard-earned money on many places in baltimore.
this is great value, fantastic food and service and a mouth-watering experience.

thames street oyster house. omgoodness...very fresh seafood and i'm a baltimore girl who likes to cook her own. the bouillabasse was great...tasty broth with perfectly cooked mussels, fish, squid, (and we know how hard it is to get squid tender). choice raw oysters...and you can customize your plate...the ones from pt. judith were outstanding ! lobster wedge salad was big enough to share and had a delicious creamy but still light ranch dressing w/ beautiful roasted tomatoes. nice atomosphere with our very friendly and helpful server, teresa.
can't wait to go back to try the lobster roll !

wonderful addition to seafood scene. enjoyed a lovely and leisurely sunday lunch. first visit but certainly won't be the last. from the horseradish infused vodka bloody and shared smoked fish appetizer to mussels in a sinfully rich broth and lobtster roll, everything was delicious - fresh, flavorful and filling. loved the sandwich side options: ceasar salad, old bay fries or sweet/spicy butternut squash souffle. between the four of us and over clam belly and oyster poor boys, we managed to enjoy each side.

my favorite seafood place in town!. i wish i could say i love it, not just like it. this place is great. as a native new englander i have to say that the lobster roll is excellent, and matches up, and beats, many lobster rolls from back home.

the fish and chips were great too. the fish was light and flaky.

go try them out if you've never been!!!!
