food connoisseur. some of the bestindianfood i've ever had... and i know indian, i am indian! chicken korma is my favorite there's just something special about the sweetness of boneless dark meat in a sauce filled with a treasure of almonds and sweet raisins! i recommend having the chicken korma with buttered naan; but seriously, everything i've had has been excellent. for the bestindianfood and service in lexington, i highly encourage people to go eat at taj india!

excellent ethnic food & servicei recently held a graduation party with about 30 attendees. we worked with a caterer to have bbq pork, but decided to order oneindiandish, as some of my family grew up in calcutta. turns out, everyone chose this food above the bbq and raved about it. we had 0 leftovers of the chicken tikka masala. highly recommend and looking forward to returning. thank you, taj india!

taj india is arguably the bestindianrestaurant in lexington. the lunch buffet is inexpensive and offers a solid variety of curries and chicken dishes, not to mention, free chai! their regular menu items are a little bit more pricey, but completely worth it seeing that they prepare each dish with special care and time. the walls of the restaurant are covered with incredible works ofindianart and really makes it a relaxing environment to eat in. the staff are all friendly and if you are a regular, they will definitely recognize your business and give you their best quality service. i recommend the butter chicken curry to anyone who is giving this restaurant a try. it's a very balanced blend of spices and the tomato base that leaves you with a tangy after taste in your mouth that begs to be filled with more. naan is a must when eating curry, any of their wide variety of bread is sure to be a good combination with your curry.

“excellent food”. while traveling, we stopped in lexington in. when looking for a restaurant we saw that there was a relatively newindianrestaurant called taj india it was not too far from the hotel so gave it a try. i cannot say enough good things about our experience. the waitress was very helpful to us ordering from a new menu. we have eatenindiancuisine all over the country and this was among best meals we have ever had. the menu was imaginative in that there were pleasant twists to some of the dishes a slightly different menu from so many otherindianrestaurants. the soup and appetizer were very good, the main courses were excellent and i just wish that we were able to take this restaurant home with us to ohio. everything was cooked to order and the spice levels were easily controlled by cooking that way. nothing was too hot or spicy. my only wish is that we were able to find such a good restaurant in many cities.

taj india exists to please its customers with the food. the decor and atmosphere are of less importance although nothing is wrong. it is just not a restaurant that presents itself as one of great importance. it is what it is and the food is what will be remembered.

whenever we go back that way, we will definitely stop there to eat. it is a gem. the local population is very fortunate.

cultural experience. very authentic tastes and varieties with up to dateindianmusic. we had the buffet that had about 25 selections. didn't have much choice in healthier foods, but had great choices in delicious cultural foods that gave a nice experience.

i really love the food, its very authentic and one of the best in the lexington. i keep on coming to lexington and tried almostindianrestaurant but no body can touch it anywhere. good and friendly service.

amazingindianfood. mr. balwinder is amazing he is the owner and chef, his food is amazing. everyone should come here and try all the food, it is a foodiesindiandream. the service is really really good, and the food is even better! dinner or buffet everything her is awesome!

i purchased a groupon to try this restaurant out. we went during lunch -----they have a nice looking buffet, but we ordered off of the menu. the facility itself is ok, not overwhelmingly nice or anything but very clean. the service was great, and the food was delicious! i had that chicken tikka saag & my girlfriend got to chicken tikka masala (that i also tried). the ingredients were fresh and the naan was yummy too!! if you enjoy goodindianfood, this is a place to add to your list!

wow, this is a food-eating experience that is awesome!. benny and raj make you feel right at home. i have gotten to know them because each time we get a chance we go eat at taj. i would eat every meal of every day there if i lived even relatively close.

i have no doubt that it will not be long until it is difficult to get a table in this clean and comfortable restaurant. you likeindianfood, you must go. you don't likeindianfood, you must try.

the buffet is a good value however canned veggies in the curry.the waiter was really excited to see me if you know what i mean? lol! the coconut ice cream is wonderful!again with mostindianplaces in town the naan was cold and i could not taste the ghee.it should be served hot and buttery.the decor could use some help get rid of the tacky silk flower arrangements and add moreindianart.

second rate. we personally don't recommend this restaurant. why?

well, first off, we're lovers of lamb. we love the distinct taste it holds. taj india spices their lamb in the meat samosa so heavily that you can't even taste the lamb. both me and the fiance had lamb masala and lamb vindaloo. the meat, itself, tastes like a mix of beef and lamb. very dissatisfied with this.

secondly, the staff were very impatient. they kept asking if we were done, if we even wanted our plates, etc. i have a specific way of eating my masala. i eat the meat, then place the rice on a plate and pour the remaining sauce over it. i don't prefer my meat with my rice.

due to the poor service and taste of the food, tandoor will definitely be getting our money, bottom line. taj india is more expensive, second rate, and the staff aren't all that pleasant. at least, at tandoor, they know how to cook the food, they fix first rate fineindianquisine, their staff aren't impatient, and they're not as expensive, especially since you can get a discount with a simple text.

my husband and i visited taj for the first time a few weeks ago, and i'm eagerly anticipating my next visit. neither of us eatindianvery often (buffets when we have in the past), but we were absolutely blown away with how amazingly delicious every single item in our entrees were. i can't speak to its authenticity, but it tastes worlds better than anyindiani've ever eaten in the past. the dishes were so rich and savory... the best comfort food! the service was very attentive and personalized. it's... just.... amazing! yum!
