this is one of my favourite biryani spot since childhood. love theirmuttonbiryani, chicken biryani, ghee rice and chicken kabab. whenever we shop towards commercial street...this is our go to dine place.

there was nomuttonpiece, and there was no curry sent, kindly take this complaint seriously

came to this 85 year old taj hotel after more than a decade and must agree that they were able to maintain the hygiene and taste. sheek kabab, beja fry and malai kabab is a must have dish here. biryani was little above average butmuttonpeice was very succulent 😋 ... totally worth visiting.

the menu of taj proudly mentions they've been around since 1935. it's definitely seen more than 3 generations and countless patrons who loyally keep coming back for more.

a few hearty morsels and the juggernaut explains itself. the place perhaps had humble beginnings but it's quality and taste stand very tall and have passed the test of time.

let's start with themuttonseekh kabab - the melt-in-the-mouth dish that stands out and i'm going to go out on a limb and say...not only is it the best i've had in recent times...but also the best in bangalore by far! lightly flavoured and gently grilled...it's succulent, bursting with well balanced flavour and really cushiony and soft. it does really set the standard for what a good kabab ought to be. kudos to the chef who makes this with a lot of experience and love.

themuttonchaap was good. well grilled and filled with taste. definitely a dish to order. you'll enjoy it.

the chicken kebabs were just about ok. it's the standard kababs that you find at all donne biryani places and although it wasn't bad, it didn't surprise or delight me.

themuttonbiryani we ordered was outstanding. it's the bangalore muslim biryani also called bai biryani. but this was very well prepared, spiced just right and very tasty. i throughly enjoyed it.

a suprise item was definitely the 'ande ka halwa' while you picturise it badly and it doesn't spring up a an appetising picture, do give this a try. it's actually a bread pudding, dunked in ghee and a complete delight.

the road that leads to to the restaurant is busy market situated on a one way street. getting there is cumbersome but worth every bit of the traffic you're stuck in. full 5 shiny gold stars to taj restaurant...i'm heading there again very soon...and you should too!

inspite of being such a popular restaurant in the heart of shivaji nagar, the services offered by this restaurant is awfully poor. the staff is ill-mannerably rude to the customers and very argumentative. as for the food, the chicken kebab and tandoori is quite tasty. but themuttonis a strict no-no.
ps- the waiters had messed up my order and served chicken at the price ofmuttonbiryani and when pointed out, they argued until we couldn't anymore.

last week i had been to 80 years old biryani joint,taj hotel. we took kebab it was absolutely fantastic. i had never tasted the kebab of that kind. next we tookmuttonchops, again it was different from rest of the hotels and the meat was perfectly cooked. then we tookmuttonsheekh kebab it was so juicy and soft and i wanted to have more and more. finally we gotmuttonbiryani and i don't know how to describe it, it was so delicious with meat. then at last we took ande ki mithai it was amazing i felt like having mysuru pak.

a typlical muslim style biryani and hotel...surprise was thatmuttonitems tasted good...biryani not so lovable... kabab was nice... not a place i would visit again...

taj hotel is one of the oldest in shivajinagar i think almost 80 years old.and located right in the heart of shivajinagar.service was quick but ambience and cleanliness is needs to improve..

themuttonbiryani was true to its hype and we enjoyed it thoroughly.chicken kebab was good.muttonchops &muttonsheekh were ok not that great. ande ki mithai was yum.

what makes this place stand out is "the dishes here cooked in the traditional way, despite developments in stoves and vessels, cooking happens in copper vessels on firewood".
