tacohavenis the best place in sa for weekend breakfast! the wait can be about 5 to 15 minutes, but the food is well worth the wait! the tortillas are big, fluffy, and flavorful and make the tacos that much better!

just south of the san antonio riverwalk is an authentic tex mex restaurant named tacohaven.. yes there are plenty on the riverwalk but none as traditional as this place . the breakfast is exceptional with a variety of breakfast tacos and plates all servrd with homemade tortillas . lunch and dinner dishes are also fantastic. anyone looking for a great tex mex restaurant with reasonable pricing , this is the place to go .

didn't think it could be done. i really didn't think it was possible, but i have found bad mexican food in san antonio. realistically it wasn't all bad, but enough to not come back. here is what i ordered. queso flameado, pork chop taco, moncilla (sp?) taco, carne asada taco, chicken fajita taco. first let me state for the record that i ate half of each taco. i had never been here before, and there were a lot of choices! and, let me give credit where credit is due. the staff here was great. my waitress was friendly and at least two other staff said hi and checked on me during my visit. the tortillas are really good- thick and fluffy. green sauce was fantastic, the red sauce had unique flavor with just a touch of sweetness,. the pork chop taco was decent. but now for the bad- 1. queso flameado was about 90% chorizo and 10% cheese. it should be the other way around. i had enough cheese for two tacos. 2. i'm not sure what moncilla is, and neither was the waitress. she asked two other people and the best way they could describe it was "black sausage". it was simply gross. when my waitress brought my check she asked if i liked it, and i said no. she replied that she didn't like it either. 3. carne asada- bland/ flavorless. 4. chicken fajita- bland/ flavorless. 5. the menu said pork chop taco. it was a pork chop, still on the bone, with a tortilla wrapped around it. it was really not a major ordeal to take it out and cut it, but at this point, everything else sucked so bad, it was just one more thing to add to the list. i am sure that tacohavenwill continue to do good business. they seem to be very popular and there are numerous glowing reviews out there. but, i just don't get it.

disappointed. after having eaten and enjoyed tacohavenfor years, my last experience there was dismal at best... never have i had a server get, literally, everything wrong: from every piece of the order (the drink, the appetizer, the main meal) to the bill, everything was done wrong or mis-handled. it was a disaster of a meal.

frankly, when i'm in the mood for texmex in the future, i'll be heading to el mirador or piedras negras down the street. the torres family is letting this place slip as the crowds continue to pack into this place like sardines.

atmosphere and good food!. tacohavenis a southtown institution -- friendly, family atmosphere and good food -- complete with the requisite mural of a buxom maiden in the arms of an aztec warrior. menu standouts -- ralphie's tacos: chicken taco with shredded cabbage; flautas: all white meat and not at all greasy.

que mas quieres?. sunday morning, january 30, 2012:
i ordered one of my favorites, nopalitos on a tortilla de maiz and was not disappointed. i tried a tacohavenspecial taco for the first time, and i liked it too. waitstaff was courteous and friendly, coffe cup kept full, crowd was all families enjoying their after-church feasts.

not bad for breakfast. in all fairness, i've only eaten at tacohavenat breakfast. for a long time, i've heard people rave over the quality of the food there. i've liked everything i've gotten from there, but it's been nothing amazing. the people who run the place are really nice people. they are really stingy with the hot sauce on to-go orders. the last time i took breakfast tacos to work, they gave us only two tiny containers of salsa (about 2 teaspoons) for 10 tacos. sometimes they leave it out totally. be sure and check for hot sauce before leaving.
