really quaint little restaurant around the corner from the foundry. popped in forbreakfastafter a walk on the promenade. it was quite cramped and hot inside so we decided to sit outdoors. unfortunately there was a lot of dust due to road work - but i imagine it is usually really lovely and a popular seating choice.
the flat whites we ordered were beautifully presented , but i was not personally wowwed by the actual coffee. forbreakfasti ordered the poached eggs with crispy bacon and hollandaise. i asked for a bagel but was brought a rosti - however, we waited quite a while for the food, i was hungry and the rosti looks delicious so i was happy to accept the meal.
my eggs were poached to my liking and the different components to thebreakfastensemble were lovely , especially the caramelized onions and the well balanced hollandaise. the rosti was nice and big and tasted great - however i would advise going with a bagel as i felt its texture and thickness would have better complimented the other things on the plate, as the rosti was quite flat.
my partner in crime ordered the flapjacks and we were happy that they accomdated his request to switch out the cream cheese for berry compote. i had a taste of the flapjacks and they were quite average.
it felt a little hit and miss for me, but i still enjoyed my meal. would i go back? yeah, i felt there were enough good factors to warrant a 2nd visit. happy to return in the future to try out their lunch menu. the boyfriend has had their burgers and enjoyed them.
