excellent sushi. we are regulars and this is the best sushi spot in town and one of the best we've ever tried.

william and heidi are the owners and very nice. it's kind of hard to find in the shopping center, but once you get there, you won't be dissapointed.

great sushi. my wife and i visited here looking for sushi after moving to abq. we visited at 2 pm, and were understandably the only customers there. we received excellent service, our glasses were always filled, and our orders arrived promptly, but we also never felt like we were hovered over. we ordered shrimp tempura, salmon asparagus tempura, and tuna rolls. all were outstanding in appearance and flavor, it was quite obvious the ingredients were very fresh. we were also very impressed with the appearance of the restaurant, it had the traditional feel of a well kept oriental place, with slightly dimmed lighting creating a nice quiet feel.

we have since tried another sushi place, which had similar quality sushi and a large variety of specialty rolls, but at higher prices. if you want good, fresh, traditional sushi, at good prices, give sushiya a try.

great. the best sushi i've had in albuquerque out of the places i've been (10 or so). there is a lot of variety in the rolls and they are all excellent. the atmosphere is very nice and the service is friendly and competent.. compares favorably to sakura sushi thai & laoation cuisine (which i would call a close second).

worth trying thats for sure. i really like sushiya; i know this is one of my little brother's favorite spots to eat which is adorable because he is ten. the atmosphere is quaint and comforting and gives life to this little strip mall. so i love their bento box lunches that are really affordable actually, so when i saw the bento box sashimi lunch i had to try it. the sashimi actually were pretty big chucks of the usual tunas, and salmon, accompanied by seaweed salad, vegetable and shrimp tempura, rice, and a few pieces of a california roll. i thought mine was more than a generous portion and fresh my grandmothers salmon sashimi did taste a little funny but besides that this bento box was a real treat for lunch. the wait staff was attentive maybe too attentive. the waiter did stay over his welcome talking about his childhood and family which didn't seem like a conversation well suited for a casual lunch where he is the waiter and you're the patron. nice place with some nice food definitely worth trying or making it a frequent spot for some lunch or dinner.

big mistake. i've been to sushiya twice. the first time was for the almond chicken. i'm a big fan of leftovers and i didn't take leftovers home that night. however, i tried sushiya again with the benefit of the doubt given that sushi was just their forte. i was also persuaded by all the positive reviews.

big mistake. it was the worst sushi i've had in my entire life and i've been eating sushi for a decade.

i ordered a simple salmon roll and a shrimp tempura roll. the salmon was clearly not fresh. it was so dry and wrong-tasting, it might have been frozen salmon. the tempura tasted so strange, like powdered sugar. it was chewy instead of crunchy and left a disgusting aftertaste. even the sushi rice tasted off...

i ordered my sushi to-go and the one positive here is when i walked into the restaurant, my sushi was ready within two minutes. very quick service. honestly, i hate to leave such a bad review but i feel disrespected that i was served such a glaringly low-quality meal. apparently, the former owner, william, recently sold the place and it's gone downhill from there.

cold food and slow everything. the only hot dish we got tonight was the how paper towels at the end of our meal. the steamed dumplings were cold when they got to the table. we asked that they be heated - twenty minutes later the were back lukewarm! main dishes were only warm on the outside and only slightly warmer in the middle. service was slow because there were only 2 servers for the entire restaurant. help is so scarce that a young (8 or 10 years old) girl was seating guests and cleaning tables. frustrating dinner experience! don't go unless you are willing to wait ling times to be seated, to order and to get your food.

unexpectedly tasty. went here for a switch up from our normal place that is getting old. surprised by the fresh taste of their sushi, not heavy with cream cheese and a ton of sauces etc. prices were good and i didn't feel bloated and tired when i left. everything was delicious, will be returning soon!

missing william. this place used to be superb. the former owner sold it, and is no longer involved. and it shows. the sushi chef we had was friendly, but not very professional at all. the presentation was not near as beautiful as we're used to here. all of this could be forgiven if the quality was still the same. sadly, it wasn't. everything we ordered was smothered in sauce, to the point that we couldn't taste the fish. i got some tuna sashimi, and i immediately tasted why all the sauces were on everything else. the fish tasted old, and smelled off. needless to say, we will be looking for a new sushi place. dies anyone know where chef william has gone?

favorite!!. i'm beyond happy that i moved up to this side of town and found sushiya! this is by far the best place i've found in abq so far. granted, the price is a tad bit higher than competitors, but the value is miles ahead as well. i've ordered takeout as well as (free) delivery and never been disappointed. most places tend to skimp out on you but i found that with sushiya, they never do. the rolls aren't packed with tons of rice, the menu is diverse and creative, and the food is executed with the highest of standards. if you haven't tried them yet, i'd highly suggest you give them a shot, you won't regret it!
