wagyu express ninja!!!

now this place is great for japanese bbq, its cheap and affordable. $25 for bbq lunch set were you can choose 3 types of meat, rice and salad on the side.

the meat quality is great and not frozon so its good and worth the money!

i hope to come back to dinner because its all you can it!!!

bad experience here, rude staff so manager.. never come back and never recommend to anyone.. too many rules which used to rip off first time customer like me. you won't go anywhere with that attitude.

japanese yakiniku buffet in the cbd that offers a good selection of marinated goodies and side dishes. my favourite of the night was the wagyu beef rib fingers! opt for the premium menu if you are extra hungry and want sashimi as well. we thought the normal gourmet menu was good as is. you get a handy ipad to order which will show you status of order. i felt the 90 minute total dining time limit (the ordering time was even less) was rather restrictive, it starts when you sit down and it really goes quick if you're with a bunch of friends and are eating at a casual pace. i walked out satisfied but didn't quite get the buffet feeling. oh well, it's a business that need to make a profit.

i have been to suminoya twice in the last month one for a friends birthday dinner an the other for a foodie event. both times i left feeling extremely satisfied and happy with the food that is served here and i would recommend this place based on my personal experience as the ingredients that they use are all fresh and delicious! the meats are succulent and marinated well and the sashimi was fresh too. i also loved the unagi rice from their dinner menu!! 
i definitely recommend their seafood & yakiniku dinner buffet menu if you want to get a taste of everything!

great quality of meat and food, however they have recently changed the grill style to non charcoal. the heat is unevenly distributed and only gets hot in the middle.

service is still great and it doesn't get too smokey inside. well ventilated considering a bbq restaurant.

this place is very similar to your average korean bbq place but i must say i like the all you can eat buffet style here. for $55 we got unlimited sashimi and assorted meats ranging from ox tongue to wagyu beef. i feel like the quality of the food is better at nishiki but this place wasn't too bad. you get to order for 60minutes and eat for 90 minutes and because of this our table of 6 became a manic frenzy of ordering, eating and burnt meat. it's very easy to burn the thinner meats so be careful! i also recommend ordering the slushie or the green tea ice cream at the halfway mark just to cut through the fat and grease.

great for bbq. we tried the premium buffet $55pp twice. their meat is definitely worth it and considering the time limit, you are better off ordering meat only and not other dishes. good experience overall but their service is quite slow so you can get quite frustrated considering the time limit they impose. other than that, love the meat!

tasty food, nice comfortable seating.

had $55 'premium buffet' - you really need someone who knows what the portions are like to order, you will order like 3-4 waves of food, you have a limit of 2 hours. staff will ask you for a final order before the time is up.

cooking takes some getting used to, prepare to burn some food.

wagyu was my favourite. chicken was harder to cook but nice too.

icecream and slushy good finishers, small portion so don't be afraid to ask for 2-3 scoops and 1-2 slushies.

protip: don't let the water in the well inside the bbq dry up, ask for water before that happens so you get less oil fires.

had the premium buffet here and the quality of the food was amazing albeit a little on the expensive side at $55pp. the sashimi was very fresh and all the meat was perfect. highly recommend all the wagyu beef as the flavour was delicious. good blend of japanese and korean.

been a while since i've been there! their $60 buffet is so good! just go and eat all of their ox tongue and garlic prawn! that's all i eat, if you don't like it, no point going, cos others food are just nothing special.

for another taste of japanese cuisine, we were really looking forward to bento boxes and authentic japanese bbq, known as yakiniku, at suminoya in the cbd! yuri recommended that we select one of the lunch boxes, which we gladly decided to try! since we had never tried ton-katsu, a deep fried pork cutlet with ponzu sauce before, we decided to choose that as the main meal with the lunch box a option. alongside the main meal, the lunch box also came with fresh fish sashimi, a crab cutlet, radish, tofu, miso soup and a bowl of rice, which was excellent for trying small portions of many of their dishes.

bit on the pricey side but it's worth it for the authentic experience. i had always wanted to try something like this and i'm so glad i did. the meat was top quality and tasted delicious. the restaurant is a bit hidden away - i actually didn't believe it was down that alley - but the vibe inside is really cosy and comfortable and i loved it.

[invitational review] hidden away in hosking place (trust us, you won’t know its here unless you’re shown) is suminoya japanese – we wandered around looking for it and ended up in a fairly peculiar venue – its age shows but its packed and popular so we’re the ones missing out. what’s here? japanese bbq and you’ll quickly note all the chimney/exhaust units in here and then some.
