stone bowl korean restaurant

very fastserviceand really good food. we had a rib dish that was excellent. the waiter was not in good spirits but this did not badly affect the experience. great pickles.

this place is delicious! my husband who isn't crazy about korean even enjoyed the food. every single plate we ordered was scraped clean. we ordered edamame, goon man du, kim bab, and the ever popular bulgogi stone bowl.servicewas great, overall an excellent place to enjoy good company and truly tasty food. we will be back, hopefully to take more pictures before inhaling everything.

the food at stone bowl is always very good butserviceusually lacks. they are always understaffed and do not check back often. it's worth trying just hope they are not busy and you get an attentive server.

korean food was on the menu for dinner tonight, so we ended up at stone bowl in asheville.  we were both pretty exhausted from a day of hiking and just wanted to fill our bellies with good food.  we started off with the goon man du. these were some awesome dumplings.  crispy on the outside with a delicious filling.  for his entree, loren got the doi ji stonebowl. he really enjoyed it.  the bowl is super hot and you have to mix it all together.  there’s rice on the bottom that gets a little crispy and it all melds together just perfectly.  i went for the tang su yuk. it’s a sweet and sour chicken dish with lots of veggies. the chicken was crispy and crunchy and the sauce had a nice flavor to it. the sides they were serving today were seaweed salad, pickled cucumber, fried tofu, radish, bean sprouts, kim chi, and potato in sweet sauce.  we both really enjoyed the entire meal.  total bill with a drink was $42 stone bowl korean 1987 hendersonville rd, ste a asheville, nc 828-676-2172 foodserviceatmosphere value

we've been here twice, and have left as happy customers both times. we were hesitant to try this restaurant due to the bad reviews of service, but i'm glad we decided to give it a try. the bulgogi stonebowl is our must have item.serviceboth times has been good. we'll keep coming back for the stonebowls.

service ruins all. i can forgive that the food was....a bit off. but, when theserviceis as bad as it was when i visited i don't see any reason to ever come back when asheville is filled with better options for food and service.

service was horrible. as i have come to really enjoy the food at stone bowl, theservicehas went to the dogs. we went for lunch and after waiting for at least 10 minutes for them to take our order, we waited another 45 minutes for the food to come out. we ordered our usuals, chicken stone bowl, kim chi chigae and a tofu stone bowl. the chicken stone bowl was delivered luke warm and nothing about it said "sizzling pot". when the waitress was finally snagged (because she never came back to check on us) we told her of the problem with the chicken stone bowl and all she said was "sorry". long story short, she could have handled that situation differently. the kin chi chigae was good as usual however, i will now think twice before going during lunch because theserviceand wait time for for delivery was totally unacceptable.

next to great. being the korean food connoisseur that i am, i have to say that the dishes that i have had at stone bowl are near perfect. the kim chee chigae was flavorful and spicy and had both rice cakes and tofu! just like mom used to make. the stone bowls come out piping hot and full of the wonderful korean vegetable medley i would expect and fried egg on top. they offer a lunch portion as well as a dinner portion on the kin chee chigae which is nice. the only negative thing i would have to say is that the wait staff what somewhat aloof because i ordered to lunch portion of the kimchee chigae and was brought the dinner portion and when i questioned the bill, she snidely said, you didn't specify lunch, although i was there for lunch and everyone else i was with ordered the lunch specials. i could have done without that snide remark. anyway, the food was great.

food is good but terribleserviceruins it each time.

finally asheville gets a korean restaurant! food was great! prices a little high but worth it! looking forward to coming back.

great food, spotty service. i've only hit the stone bowl up one time, but i thoroughly enjoyed the food and experience. highly recommend the stone bowl dishes. theserviceon the other hand was not so great the night i was there. i'm hoping it was an "off" night, but our glasses were often left empty and we were never asked if we wanted another glass of wine or sake. it won't stop me from giving it another whirl though.

wow!. we were walking into a restaurant across the street when we saw stone bowl. we jumped in the car and gave it a try instead! it happened to be their first night open, and what an experience! we have had korean food before, but not traditional stone bowl. all i can say is wow. the food was amazing. fresh, flavorful, and very vibrant. fantastic attention to detail and tradition. the flavors of all our dished were top notch. two of us got stone bowls, one of us got a crispy garlic chicken dish. all three were flawless. every entree also comes with a variety of small sides like kimchi. i was so excited when we left that there's a place like this in town. can't wait to go back!servicewas friendly and quick, atmosphere was relaxing, and (i can't say enough) the food was delicious! go enjoy this dining experience asap.
