delish but pricey. the best deal here is for lunch, especially the bulgogi bento box.foodis very good & we haven't had any issues with service. dinner, however, is overpriced with everything ala carte. the addition of a small soup and/or salad to a dinner would entirely fix the problem, both being very inexpensive to prepare and serve. we only go for lunch otherwise it's a $50 meal which is absurd for a casual, neighborhood asian dinner.

one of the best korean restaurants we have ever been to. the beef bulgogi stone bowl's we had were excellent, the rice was crispy with lots of vegetables. our seafood pancake was excellent, very crispy with lots of seafoodand an excellent sauce to go with it. prices were reasonable and the staff was very attentive. i highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys korean food.

thefoodat stone bowl is always very good but service usually lacks. they are always understaffed and do not check back often. it's worth trying just hope they are not busy and you get an attentive server.

koreanfoodwas on the menu for dinner tonight, so we ended up at stone bowl in asheville.  we were both pretty exhausted from a day of hiking and just wanted to fill our bellies with good food.  we started off with the goon man du. these were some awesome dumplings.  crispy on the outside with a delicious filling.  for his entree, loren got the doi ji stonebowl. he really enjoyed it.  the bowl is super hot and you have to mix it all together.  there’s rice on the bottom that gets a little crispy and it all melds together just perfectly.  i went for the tang su yuk. it’s a sweet and sour chicken dish with lots of veggies. the chicken was crispy and crunchy and the sauce had a nice flavor to it. the sides they were serving today were seaweed salad, pickled cucumber, fried tofu, radish, bean sprouts, kim chi, and potato in sweet sauce.  we both really enjoyed the entire meal.  total bill with a drink was $42 stone bowl korean 1987 hendersonville rd, ste a asheville, nc 828-676-2172foodservice atmosphere value

just north of average. the atmosphere of the restaurant is calming, modern asian and welcoming. the friendly staff provides solid service. thefoodis good, not the best, closer to average. we've eaten there several times and it just floors me that that they don't bring out kimchi right away. both times the we didnt finish the banchans; we didn't care for the selections, like potato salad (i'm 100% korean and pretty much eat everything). we had the bibimbap in the stone bowl - ehhh, it was ok. spicy pork was good and also had the kimchi stew which was tasty but to a korean it's nothing great. the seafood pancake on the other hand is very tasty - highly recommend it! overall, we thought our meals were ok to good; i'd go back again to try the other dishes but our party of 6 decided that so far the other korean place is better.

service ruins all. i can forgive that thefoodwas....a bit off. but, when the service is as bad as it was when i visited i don't see any reason to ever come back when asheville is filled with better options forfoodand service.

what no kimchi. second time at the restaurant. tried some new dishes but was surprised that a korean restaurant did not serve a side dish of kimchi. kimchi is a staplefoodin korea. first ever restaurant to do so. just amazing that they would charge extra for something that basic. seems like a lot of extra charges for many things. hope they survive???

hot box. while i have had koreanfoodbefore i had never had a bibimbap in a stone bowl. i ordered the sliced beef version. when the server brought it out he explained what everything was, how to mix it, etc. i got to work. there was very little beef which, considering i paid $15 for this dish, was somewhat disappointing. one of the main problems i had was that the food, due to the heat of the stone bowl, continued to get hotter and hotter. at one point thefoodhad become so hot that i couldnt eat it. i picked at it sparingly for about 10 minutes until it was cooled down enough to enjoy. even though i stirred things around quite a bit, much of my rice ended up getting burnt, not sure if thats part of the scheme or not. in the end the whole experience just kind of fell flat. i definitely feel your paying a few bucks extra for the novelty of the bowl and that was kind of irritating. the wife had the chicken bento box and pretty much felt the same way. it wasnt bad, i was just kind of whatever. for $30 (before tip) i was expecting something a little more memorable. just not our cup of tea i guess.

i tried this restaurant for lunch to day and for the most part the review is good. i was greated by a friendly waiter who took some time to make some suggestions. i went with the 9$ lunch box with a glazed salmon. the samon was cooked well and served at the right temp. the glaze was very nice and there was just enough of it. the lunch came with two little fried dumplings which also had a nice flavor. now the bad... the rice was hard and a little cold like it had been reheated from the night before the cucumber salad was also a left over because they had started to loose shape and where soggy and the small potatos they served were luke warm.... i liked thefoodbut wouldn't make a special trip back

service was horrible. as i have come to really enjoy thefoodat stone bowl, the service has went to the dogs. we went for lunch and after waiting for at least 10 minutes for them to take our order, we waited another 45 minutes for thefoodto come out. we ordered our usuals, chicken stone bowl, kim chi chigae and a tofu stone bowl. the chicken stone bowl was delivered luke warm and nothing about it said "sizzling pot". when the waitress was finally snagged (because she never came back to check on us) we told her of the problem with the chicken stone bowl and all she said was "sorry". long story short, she could have handled that situation differently. the kin chi chigae was good as usual however, i will now think twice before going during lunch because the service and wait time for for delivery was totally unacceptable.

next to great. being the koreanfoodconnoisseur that i am, i have to say that the dishes that i have had at stone bowl are near perfect. the kim chee chigae was flavorful and spicy and had both rice cakes and tofu! just like mom used to make. the stone bowls come out piping hot and full of the wonderful korean vegetable medley i would expect and fried egg on top. they offer a lunch portion as well as a dinner portion on the kin chee chigae which is nice. the only negative thing i would have to say is that the wait staff what somewhat aloof because i ordered to lunch portion of the kimchee chigae and was brought the dinner portion and when i questioned the bill, she snidely said, you didn't specify lunch, although i was there for lunch and everyone else i was with ordered the lunch specials. i could have done without that snide remark. anyway, thefoodwas great.
