good food. good music. and good atmosphere.

the breakfast food was good, but the service was not. we waited 10 minutes for our server to come to the table. during the meal, no drink refills were offered and she only checked on us once. we also ordered pie slices to go. they were the tiniest desserts i've ever been served at restaurant. overall, not worth the time to eat here.

mckinney tradition. consistently good. the breakfast is better than the regular menu. staff always great. its always a nice scene. zomatozzzzz

**update: the wife and i returned to give this place another shot, this time for brunch. we both chose to do the brunch buffet which included pancakes, biscuits, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, jalapeno & cheese scrambled eggs, and fruit (and maybe some other stuff, i cant remember). we came in with lower expectations than last time and we were pleasantly surprised. the food was very fresh and hot, you could tell they did not let these buffet items sit for very long. although they didnt have to because the pans were cleared out of food within minutes of being served. we have definitely found a cheap brunch spot for those lazy sunday mornings when you dont want to go to a hi-tone brunch spot or spend $30 at a steakhouse brunch. however, i should warn you, we are not the only ones who like their brunch because it gets packed, so definitely be prepared to wait if you get there late. **

the wife and i tried it out for dinner. love the atmosphere and decor. we sat at a table right in front of the big windows next to the street. it was a quiet rainy evening and it was very nice to watch people stroll by as we relaxed. the service was prompt and polite and professional. the food was decent for the price. we started with a pick two appetizer. fried pickles had too much reading for our taste but we also had the black pepper fries and those were amazing. i ordered the chicken fried steak with mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. everything came out fresh and hot. the chicken fried steak was thick and seasoned well. the mac and cheese was creamy. my wife had the chicken tetrazzini and it was dry with little flavor. we didn't order dessert even though the key lime pie looked delicious. i think next time i will try their breakfast. overall it's a good place to eat dinner, just don't have very high expectations.

my family and i have gone to spoons countless times since they first opened. we always have a wonderful experience (even when we sit at the counter). the customer service the waitresses and waiters offer is always superb. the food is delicious. the atmosphere is quaint and the restaurant is always clean.
we enjoy the view of the square when we dine near the windows. location couldn't be better. we haven't gone more than once or twice in the past year as their prices have been creeping up over the years and the new snug restaurant (although a more limited menu) offer better prices.
spoons is also a victim of its enormous popularity as wait times have gotten longer.
but overall its still great restaurant.

karen's special omelette is tasty along with the cottage potatoes. friendly service!. clever decor. excellent coffee! the waffles looked light and delicious.

great place with a great atmosphere! everything i've tried on their lunch menu is wonderful, especially the fish tacos with yhe jicama slaw is super tasty as is their soups! the king ranch casserole is a hit as well. been here for breakfast several times and the service is fast. they offer a buffet for breakfast which is nice but i didn't find the flavor to be as good on the buffet as i did on the reg menu items. cappuccinos are an absolute must! on friday nights they have live bands come out and the place stays pretty packed so you need to allow time to eat before closing time on the weekends! they have a great outside patio roo that's great for people watching and enjoying the weather when it's nice! i would def recommend this place if you're ever in the area!

food is good. service is spotty. owner is rude. only keep going back because of the food. when we first started going here over ten years ago and it was still a small restaurant it was a much better experience with service. i boycotted this place for a couple of years just based on the owner being rude.

wonderful experiece and atmosphere. spoons has a small town feel to it. the old wood floors and antique food signs on the walls create a warm cozy feel. our server was very prompt, attentive, and funny. when we asked for an extra spoon he joked, "sorry, we used 'em all on decorations." we all laughed. he had several more laughing moments with us. the food was very good. amongst seven us of we tried bagels, omelets, breakfast tacos, yogurt parfaits, and eggs. everyone really enjoyed the food. i will make this place a priority if i am in the area. it's down home country feel is so nice.

walked in for lunch, every unoccupied table was covered in dirty plates and used napkins. we had to clean off the table ourselves. after ordering 3meals an omelet, oatmeal, and soup & salad we waited over a 1/2 hr. to get two out of three meals, one with all wrong sides. had to stop 3different ppl over 15more minutes just to get our oatmeal. waitress never brought out our correct sides. to top it all off we did not have enough straws and 2 out of three packs of silverware were filthy..... never again would i go, and would not recommend!

yum - homestyle menu - lotsa choices. had the chicken n waffles, never tried that before but was totally blown away, would def order it again. pancakes, and french toast were great! my girlfriend had the mckinney and spicy chicken veggie soup and loved every bite. had to wait a little @ sunday brunch but totally worth the wait. go

this visit and every other visit to spoons cafe has been a pleasant one. we were starving when we arrived and the food really hit the spot. although i would have preferred more deli meat on my club, i though the food was good overall. the service was commendable and our waitress was very friendly. spoons cafe is always a reliable breakfast and lunch destination for me and my family.

so sad. a friend of mine loves eating at places like this, and we were all sort of geeked about trying a new restaurant. when we arrived, the cafe was pretty busy, and so we stood out front while waiting for a table. after about 30 minutes, a waitress approached and said their were no available tables inside of the main restaurant, but there were available tables in the garage. this seemed curious since we could see a few open tables inside. i have to mention at this point that we are african american, and this struck as a let's-send-them-to-the-colored-section decision, but we did not want to make a scene. as we entered the garage section of the restaurant, we immediately noticed that every patron in this section were either african american or parents with their children. the food was okay (not great, but not terrible), but the overall feeling we left with was terrible. i love mckinney and patronize many of the establishments, but i will never return here.

i have eaten here several times and loved having breakfast at spoons garage. the old garage atmosphere is really nice. french toast and potatoes are to die for.
