southport raw bar & restaurant

killer oysters!. simply put...freshoystersat a good price. not much on beer selection and not much for vegetarians. but go for the oysters!

happy hour rules. three dozenoystersand a pitcher of beer for only thirty bucks ?!? hell, yeah! feels like i'm giving up a secret to let everybody know about the great happy hour deals...but as long as i've started, here's another: there's a second parking lot around the back. if you are after "fine dining," southport isn't for you, but if you want tasty, low-key eats in a laid-back environment, check it out.

went here on a hunch because it's always crowded which is usually a good sign. the place is old and dirty with sticky ketchup bottles on the table. the menu is bare for a raw bar that also serves burgers and fish selections. we ordered conch fritters which were greasy and mushy and had no trace of conch. the new england clam chowder was definitely from a can. their grilled chicken tasted dry and the fries had the taste of old fryer oil. a special of the day steak burger had no seasoning and the lettuce was bitter. $3 for a coke too! the patrons that pack this place must go there only for the rawoysters(which we were not going to even try) and to drink. overpriced for even the lowest level of bar food.

great service and atmosphere! we sat at the raw bar while waiting for a table, and hadoystersand drinks! for dinner we sat outside on the dock. we had the fish and chips and fish sandwich for dinner and both were delicious. would definitely recommend this place. very casual laid back atmosphere.

this is totally a "get your hands dirty" seafood place on the water.  great prices, service is solid, and the view is pretty good outside too.  very well rounded seafood place from peal-n-eat shrimp with a kick, tooysterson the shell over ice, to the conch chowder.  it's on my list of favorites in ft. lauderdale.

what a let down.... i was psyched by all the positive reviews and went on a monday for happy hour. it took forever (over 35 mins) to get an order of a dozen rawoystersand a dozen steamed clams. clams came out cold.oysters(regular gulf) were $14.95/dz; i'd hate to know what regular price is. beer was only like 50 cents off. an iced tea was $3.50. needless to say, i was not impressed and wouldn't return.

license to chill with great food. my wife and i made our annual trip to the southport last weekend post-cruise. it's one of our most favorite local spots. we prefer sitting outside on the deck overlooking the marina and boats. this past saturday afternoon we arrived to the sounds of a two man band playing outside. i liked their beach and nautical themed musical selections very much.

i checked in via my smartphone's swarm app and a recommendation popped up: try the half clam chowder, half conch chowder. i had never thought of that. ever. i tried it and it was pretty awesome. i then ordered my usual, the raw bar sampler platter. clams andoysterson the half shell along with 4 spicy shrimp. yes, the shrimp do have a bit of kick to them.

i must admit i've never ordered off the menu, i always go raw bar or specials. but, i'm sure that everything is quite good.

love it!!! great food cozy environment off the water, new favorite restaurant i want to go back every day! great prices love theoystersi go for the seafood and never go wrong.

good but expect a wait. southport is a locals place located right off se 17th st. great raw bar options, but expect a wait. a dozenoysterson a busy night could take 20+ minutes. no liquor, just beer and wine. service is pretty friendly.

best dolphin sandwich in broward. best blacken dolphin sandwich i have had in years. everything about it was awesome, the bun was soft, the fish was moist, and it was spiced perfect (see pic). all i did was add a squeeze of lemon and alittle cocktail sauce and it was down the hatch. after reading some reviews, i guess i must get lucky everytime when i eat there. now if i could only hit the lotto....lol. stay hungry!

live, love, last!. this place is a throw back to old fort lauderdale. fresh shucked oysters,shrimp with old bay, and cold beer. lets not forget good personal service. we had the conch fritters which were excellent and our friends had theoystersand shrimp (see pic). it was an orgy of food and beer capped off with me buying a southport raw bar t-shirt like a freakin tourist:) my wife and i had a blast (see pic). i forgot what a cool place this is. the back deck looks refurbished with a nice view looking east down the canal. you can sit inside or outside by the water and just watch time drift by. our server was pete (see pic) and he was very friendly. make sure you tell them dan sent you to eat, drink and play michael jackson on the jukebox. as always stay hungry!

great food & service. had he rawoysters& steamed clams. loved them so much ordered a second round.
