amazing seafood here! we tried the clams for the first time and they were delicious! had to get two 1/2 pound orders of the old bay shrimp, a must try! and split the blacked dolphin platter, which was the best dolphin i have ever had! if you are looking for an upscale dinning experience, this is not the place. however, if you are looking for a key west feel were you can let your hair down and eatgreatseafood at resonable prices, you want to go to southport.

happy hour rules. three dozen oysters and a pitcher of beer for only thirty bucks ?!? hell, yeah! feels like i'm giving up a secret to let everybody know about thegreathappy hour deals...but as long as i've started, here's another: there's a second parking lot around the back. if you are after "fine dining," southport isn't for you, but if you want tasty, low-key eats in a laid-back environment, check it out.

this restaurant is only getting two stars for the service which was great. the food was not good at all. we started off with the fish dip which was a very small portion and only ok. then we had onion rings which were previously frozen. we sent them back. the two entrees were a codfish sandwich and grilled mahi mahi tacos. the codfish was undercooked and my husband who normally would eat all of it barely ate half. the fish tacos had a very small amount of mahi mahi and while it was grilled, it was way over done and hard. the tacos consisted of mostly coleslaw and had a thousand island colored sauce on it which actually was a spicy hot sauce. they were served ice cold. i am aware that this place normally getsgreatreviews thus the reason that we went there to try it. never again.

this is totally a "get your hands dirty" seafood place on the water.  great prices, service is solid, and the view is pretty good outside too.  very well rounded seafood place from peal-n-eat shrimp with a kick, to oysters on the shell over ice, to the conch chowder.  it's on my list of favorites in ft. lauderdale.

license to chill withgreatfood. my wife and i made our annual trip to the southport last weekend post-cruise. it's one of our most favorite local spots. we prefer sitting outside on the deck overlooking the marina and boats. this past saturday afternoon we arrived to the sounds of a two man band playing outside. i liked their beach and nautical themed musical selections very much.

i checked in via my smartphone's swarm app and a recommendation popped up: try the half clam chowder, half conch chowder. i had never thought of that. ever. i tried it and it was pretty awesome. i then ordered my usual, the raw bar sampler platter. clams and oysters on the half shell along with 4 spicy shrimp. yes, the shrimp do have a bit of kick to them.

i must admit i've never ordered off the menu, i always go raw bar or specials. but, i'm sure that everything is quite good.

good spot for atmosphere and seafood.. the old bay shrimp were very good, and the view isgreatfor lingering and having drinks. the atmosphere suggests something that's been around a while, and based on the shrimp, it seems like agreatplace for seafood.

local bar withgreatfood!. fantastic local seafood bar with cheap prices! they have oysters, clams, salads, bar food, and best of all pitchers of beer specials. they have excellent happy hour and a late night happy hour. the patio on the back sits on the water and last time we visited we docked our boat right there. mostly locals. this place will be here forever!

always agreattime!. i have been going to southport since 1975 and loving every minute. it is a happy and fun place with good food. love those wings and clams. i recommend this place highly.

killer fish tacos. went with a group of 14 and everything was very good. i had the fich taco special and they were awesome!greatbeer prices as well!

great place to end a day or begin a night, beer is cold, seafood isgreatand atmosphere is very friendly. only bar on the water with reasonable prices.

good but expect a wait. southport is a locals place located right off se 17th st.greatraw bar options, but expect a wait. a dozen oysters on a busy night could take 20+ minutes. no liquor, just beer and wine. service is pretty friendly.

hit or miss. we finally got a chance to check out southport raw bar and grill after many friends suggested it. we had a very interesting evening that first started out hunting for a parking place. good luck. we finally took a chance down the street in a shopping center. the service was excellent and attentive. my wife had the cajun soup, which was ok at best. she also ordered the mahi mahi with cole slaw, which she raved about. i had the raw oysters. they were fresh and had nice accompaniments. these were followed by the fried seafood basket that i must say was problem the worst i have ever eaten. the breaded seafood seemed to have come right out of the frozen section at your local grocery. i must say we enjoyed the evening but the food is hit and miss at best. drink plenty and the food won't seem too bad.
