southport raw bar & restaurant

killer fish tacos. went with a group of 14 and everything was very good. i had the fich taco special and they were awesome! great beer prices as well!

somewhat incosistent, good overall. southport's food can be hit or miss. the same can be said about their service. anyway, i used to get the wings and they were good, but then they changed. the same goes for the fried scallops, which were overly salty the last time that i ordered them. however, i can honestly say that the fried shrimp and clams are consistently good!!

disappointed. i've been to southport a number of times and this visit was particuarily disappointing. they took my order for a grilled shrimp ceasar then came back and told me they were having issues with the kitchen and could they subsitute cocktail shrimp. as we were leaving we found out the problem there kitchen wasn't even functioning. it would have been nice to have been told that up front.

the hamburger special didn't come with fries which is not the norm for most hamburgers so it would have been nice if the server had mentioned that so we had the opportunity to order them with the meal. the hamburger was ordered with tomatos and onions, no lettuce or pickles and it came with the lettuce and pickles and no tomatos or onions.

there are alot of other restaurants to go to for lunch in the area - next time we will be going to one of them.

favorite place in fort lauderdale. come here every time we are in town.

best fried scallops and clam chowder i have found in ft. lauderdale.

if you haven't had this you need to immediately (don't laugh either) best chicken and rice ever! i know it sounds simple but it is amazing i think of it all the time it's just that amazing

fried seafood basket is phenomenal!

loved the place. extremely fresh lousianna oysters. boneless chicken also good. recommend it highly. great seafood dive.

great place to end a day or begin a night, beer is cold, seafood is great and atmosphere is very friendly. only bar on the water with reasonable prices.

good but expect a wait. southport is a locals place located right off se 17th st. great raw bar options, but expect a wait. a dozen oysters on a busy night could take 20+ minutes. no liquor, just beer and wine. service is pretty friendly.

fish over fried, old bay shrimp over cooked, slaw lackluster, conch chowder disappointing and service indifferent. in a simple phrase, "don't waste your time".

not good. i ordered medium rare tuna steak plater. it came medium well. our waiter agreed that it was not cooked right. he brought another one. it was undercooked this time. the rice came with it was also tasteless. our fried seafood basket was also not that good. my wife's mahi mahi was so so. overall, we were not happy with the food. we thought tarks food is better. we'll not go back.

best dolphin sandwich in broward. best blacken dolphin sandwich i have had in years. everything about it was awesome, the bun was soft, the fish was moist, and it was spiced perfect (see pic). all i did was add a squeeze of lemon and alittle cocktail sauce and it was down the hatch. after reading some reviews, i guess i must get lucky everytime when i eat there. now if i could only hit the lotto....lol. stay hungry!

live, love, last!. this place is a throw back to old fort lauderdale. fresh shucked oysters,shrimp with old bay, and cold beer. lets not forget good personal service. we had the conch fritters which were excellent and our friends had the oysters and shrimp (see pic). it was an orgy of food and beer capped off with me buying a southport raw bar t-shirt like a freakin tourist:) my wife and i had a blast (see pic). i forgot what a cool place this is. the back deck looks refurbished with a nice view looking east down the canal. you can sit inside or outside by the water and just watch time drift by. our server was pete (see pic) and he was very friendly. make sure you tell them dan sent you to eat, drink and play michael jackson on the jukebox. as always stay hungry!

hit or miss. stay away from the fried food its he worst. great raw bar. parking is a problem. great place to drink.

hit or miss. we finally got a chance to check out southport raw bar and grill after many friends suggested it. we had a very interesting evening that first started out hunting for a parking place. good luck. we finally took a chance down the street in a shopping center. the service was excellent and attentive. my wife had the cajun soup, which was ok at best. she also ordered the mahi mahi with cole slaw, which she raved about. i had the raw oysters. they were fresh and had nice accompaniments. these were followed by the fried seafood basket that i must say was problem the worst i have ever eaten. the breaded seafood seemed to have come right out of the frozen section at your local grocery. i must say we enjoyed the evening but the food is hit and miss at best. drink plenty and the food won't seem too bad.

love... longer!. the oyster's promise to make you love longer... good stuff, i confirm!

all food was fresh. the conch fritters could've used more conch. shrimp was great - especially the peel and eat.

if you need a bloody to start lunch, start at the quarterdeck across the street where they conveniently serve them in plastic glasses easily transportable.

i will go back.
