i’m not a big fan of rice. let’s face it, as a mumbaikar in chennai the last thing you want to eat. but hey, a friend asks us to try manthakkali vathal kozhambu and podi rice and voila. that is the best thing that has happened to me in the city. if you don’t mind a bit of hing in your curries then this is the dish you need to order. the pachakari ishtew has just the right amount of zing to make your taste buds go boom.

all in all. a must try.

this is the second time i have eaten here. we started with some vada and the chips. the place is famous for its aapam and stew. the service was good. this is a fine fine southern place. i suggest to not do the typical south indian that we are use too but experiment with other delicacies on the menu also.

i went to taj with my friend the food was amazing first they gave kuzhi paniyaram with 3to 4 varieties of chutni and then we ordered vanjaram fish fry,kori ghee roast ,kozhi pepper curry and parota i loved the taste of each and everything we ordered we enjoyed a lot then they gave us a peppermint shot which was grinded with the curd which was my fav 😘the price may be high but it worth 👍🏻

one of my favourite places in the city. the ambiance is gorgeous, and the service is wonderful. their food is mouthwatering too, though their recently revamped menu has lost a lot of wonderful items like the more kali urundai!

all their rasams are soothing and delicious, and a must have on every visit for us. the sambar sadam and urulai roast is a winning combination, as is the paruppu podi sadam which is not on the menu but a huge favourite of ours! their parotta is flaky and buttery and so tasty!

basically one of our favourite places in chennai, and a must visit!

good ambience..great food and world class hospitality! mr ashok and mr bala displayed brilliant customer service. we celebrated our 10th anniversary here and their customer service made the entire experience very memorable! highly recommend

bomb. totally worth the expense. i had buffets for breakfast, lunch and dinner along with the stay package. the dessert section was even more alluring than the main courses. bacon served for breakfast was perfectly well cooked and yum. food made the stay all the more better.

had been to this place today. it was a business event and had food at southern spice..
the ambience was a typical chettiandu household. the light music on the background was also soothing. the food was good and serving was very personal.  they serve good authentic veg starters like paniyaram etc. overall the place was exciting. we ordered the veg thali and were served in a huge silver plate with a plantain leaf over it. the final rating are :

food : 4/5
ambience : 5/5
cost to pocket : 3/5
service 3/5 - this is only due to the time it took for serving the lunch!! otherwise all other elements were handled up close and personal.... :)

worth a visit once. 

food for 2 ( inclusive of gst : 4k).

will visit again.... thanks taj!!!

amazing south indian food includes all culinary delicacy from kerala, tamil nadu, andhra etc yet to see a resturant that expresses authentic south food better then this place. the ambiance is awesome and the service is just perfect. high end but worth a visit, will come again for sure.

was here for my parents anniversary and the first thing that'll attract you is the lighting of the place. the restaurant has some of the warmest hosts you'll find in the city, who'll make you feel at home. the food menu is fascinating, just to read up the description. the cutlery has a royal feel and the food tastes just as if it was made at home. light on stomach and great on taste. also appreciate the gesture of baking an anniversary cake for my parents. hope to come back soon!

if in chennai, and you get want to have a great authentic south indian fare and are also reluctant to compromise on ambience and service,this is the place for you....
everything right from the ambience to service, from the menu to the taste is up to taj standards!

went here with colleagues for dinner. i must say the food served, right from the starters were awesome. we had picked up a set menu. they serve very good authentic veg starters like paniyaram, adai etc. among the nonveg, prawn was standout. coming to the main course, mutton chukka and chicken curry were awesome. it was accompanied by kerala paratha, idiappam and a aapam, all of which were awesome. bisibele bhat and mutton biryani were too good. in fact the food was so tasty that we were confused, which one to choose. payasam and ice cream, made up the dessert. overall an awesome experience.

excellent service and attention to detail!
the waiters here are awesome. the chef came out to ask the guests whether they were happy with the food.
they had 3 different birthday parties while we were having lunch and the way they entertained the birthday boy/girl was exceptional.
all their food items must be great and whatever, we tried was lip smacking.
reservations are better off.

great ambience , good food ( which is served fresh and hot ) loved each and every bit of it , must try filter coffee ice cream , taj is known for its hospitality and service so i need not comment its had always been a good experience for me and my family .

an absolutely fantastic experience. the flavours were just marvellous and made us enjoy it a lot.
the restaurant has a spectacular south indian architecture and a very pleasant ambience. the tables are also appropriately sized to have a good conversation without having to raise your voice and also perfect to accommodate all the food.

the staff was quite friendly and made us feel welcome and also recommended some great food choices. a true taj experience... makes you feel proud to showcase a fantastic indian culinary experience to an expat colleague in a truly indian hotel.

i'd recommend going here with family as well as on your business dinners.
