good beers on rotating tap, and great buffalo chicken pizza. the homemade blue cheese dressing is awesome! the roger brown pizza covered in beer cheese was also tasty. the menu in restaurant is different than what i saw online. the bar was entirely full when we arrived and the live music was nice.

great and friendly. we enjo.... great and friendly.
we enjoyed our flights of beer as well as our discussion with the brewmaster.
our lunch was terrific. we had the smoking blt (jalapeño bacon) and pimento cheese sandwiches.

good beer, great food. the open music monday night was better than any music we see in the midwest. i mean great!

stopped in for lunch. building doesn't look like much from the road, but looks in this case are definitely deceiving.
ordered a pimento spread sandwich and salad. food was very tasty and reasonably priced...
and the beer...they should be very proud. i sampled the extra hop song the goldie and both had great flavor...
service was excellent. i would highly recommend that if you find yourself within driving distance you make this a destination stop.

came in because the menu sounded good. no one greeted us when we arrived and there was no sign saying seat yourself. it took over 5 minutes to get menus. they were not busy at all. staff sticks to assigned area without bothering help those outside their section even when it is just as convent. service was slow but the food was good.

food was ok. service was average. management staff needs to learn to be a little more professional to customers. will not go back.

friendly service, great atmosphere and nice local place!

i really enjoy eating here. friendly place. unique food great people. the owners really take time to make sure everything is to your liking. if you have slow service it is only because the staff is slamed. the staff does change frequently but that is only because they are moving on to other careers (teachers, nurses, etc) i have grown to know many of them and wish them well.

hoping it sticks around. the food is better than average (try the reuben), the beer selection is great and rivals mellow mushroom's, the atmosphere is nice and usually laid back, and there are many tvs to watch games. my only gripe is that they have a band there on saturday nights when i really would rather go there and just watch a college football game. my friend and i would go there for every evening carolina game if they didn't have the band playing. instead, we end up going to bww's (terrible food) or mm (great food but no sound on the tvs).

my suggestion? limit the bands to friday nights during college football season.

i really wanted to like this place. but after a little more than a year of regula service i see a good idea gone horribly wrong. the menu has a few good items, however what is not one of the 3 or 4 spectacular items feels like the head cook just panicked and started adding items to fill up the page. i'd like to say the staff is friendly, however it seems (aside from one or two servers) noone can work there for more than a month or two before they're replaced. speaking of the staff... everyone there looks stressed and it really rubs off on the dining experience in a bad way. so while i have no specific complaint i will say that after giving them time to get their game together i've given up and will take my family, friends, and money elsewhere.

food was good but service was slack!

meh..... the food is okay. some of the menu items are pretty misleading. you ask for one thing and you get something totally different. also, the waitstaff always seems super stressed, and the turnover is really frequent. it's rare for me to see the same server twice.

mixed feelings. i love that this place tries to use as much locally sourced food as possible, unfortunately the finished product often leaves something to be desired. the pretzel appetizer (trippy dip) is really good. their pretzels are fresh and their dips are delicious, especially the honey butter. i've ordered the low country reuben and it was pretty good. my husband ordered the pulled pork pizza. that wasn't so good... the crust is made with honey and whole wheat flour which is nice but it was kind of bland and the pulled pork was really mushy and oily. i'd be up for trying one of their other pizzas but their pulled pork really isn't good in my opinion. the atmosphere here is really great. it's family friendly but also good for getting together with friends. they have live music on fridays and saturdays. i haven't tried any of their beers but they have a lot of drink specials all the time. i brought my brother in law here and he said their in house beers were alright, not spectacular but not bad either. he ordered the steak sandwich which claimed to use ribeye but you could tell it was steak-ums. so far the food has been hit or miss. i adore the concept of this place but for me the execution still needs a little work.

the friendliest. heck, everyone in florence is friendly, but i have been to southern hops several times and the folks there are hands down the friendliest in town. add that to a great beer selection and several vegetarian pizza selections makes southern hops my favorite place in town. next mission is to get them open on sundays for nfl games.
