never go there.... rules stated are no reservations for the dining room.
if you go at 7pm with a party of three expect to see people with parties of 4 get seated before you if a booth for 4 opens up.
sat there from 7 until 7:45, a part of 6 straggled in at 7:30 & was seated at the open booth we were expecting to get. 3 other couples were in line after us (but before the group of 6) and they were screwed too.

apparently our money is not worth anything , we'd already purchased a few very over priced drinks at the bar... the 6 had purchased nothing.

ignorant manager, no tack, stupid explations...foodwas always mediocre, but we won't worry about it getting better because we won't be back to find out.

service was poor. when the issue was addressed the cook told me to “shut up” and when asked for management the cook said he was the manager and began arguing with me about the poor service and being completely rude. and to top it all off i hadfoodin my hair and $1 was taken off of myfoodfor that inconvenience. will never attend this place again. hani yori has way better service andfoodfor the price you pay.

i cant decide. as a non-japanese bistro go-er, i generally stick to chinese foods and did not really know what to expect from soho. i liked thefoodonce i got it, but it seemed to take forever. i ordered chicken, which was mediocre. i decided i liked the rice and egg teppanyaki better than the meat that came with it.
also, my group of 3 had asked for egg yolk sauce which my waiter and the boy working the grill had neglected to provide. however, a different waitress was very pleased to serve us and was apologetic about the missing sauce. it was so good it would almost be worth the wait; however i don't know if i want to wait that long ever again. it was a good experience overall, and i will probably go back again.

one time was enough... about a month after soho opened, my family (we are all huge hana yori fans) called for a reservation for 14. the decor was beautiful but that was about it. we were sat in the large dining area with two grill tops (im not sure what they call this room). it wasnt untill after we had had our soup (which wasnt memorable whatsoever) & our salad (the ginger dressing was ok) that the server told us that one of the grills wasnt getting hot, so they could only use one grill for all of us. 14 people! as if that wasnt bad enough, thefoodwas totally forgettable. the rice wasnt seasoned but with a little salt & a lot of pepper. i ordered the chicken which had no flavor at all. upon leaving we found ourselves comparing it to hana yori. of the 14 of us, only liike 5 found it to be a better experience. if u want the japanese experience, drive a mile down the road to hana yori. u wont be disappointed!!

incredibly disappointing.. the decor of soho is simply top-notch, but it belies the quality of thefoodand dining experience. first, a warning, the lunch menu is not available on weekends, though this is not advertised on their website. service is attentive, no complaints there.

the food, however, is another story entirely. we ordered meals that came with miso soup and ginger dressing salad. the soup was the blandest miso i have ever had, and my wife agreed. not to mention that our two bowls of soup, supposedly the same thing, looked entirely different (hers had the characteristic cloudy broth of miso; mine was basically hot water with a chunk of tofu and a shred of seaweed).

the salad was delicious. the highpoint of the meal for both of us. entrees were terribly underwhelming. i ordered the chicken teriyaki, which was a chicken breast with a flavorless watery sauce that i could not register as teriyaki. the vegetables were overcooked and mushy. my wife's rice was uncooked and inedible. her veggie and shrimp tempura was mediocre. sadly, i had to steal some of her tempura sauce to give the chicken any kind of flavor at all.

we also ordered a california roll just for comparison's sake (my wife is pregnant, and sushi is therefore off the table currently). nothing to write home about.

we had been eagerly anticipating trying soho for some time, and never had had the occasion. well, the occasion arrived and we would just as soon forget it had. the idea of soho was much more appetizing than the reality. do not recommend for dinner service. did not have teppanyaki or a full sushi meal.

we like it.. we like this place and eat the teppanyaki style. i prefer the miso soup to the standard mushroom soup. thefoodis good. the white side sauce is great. the sushi taste very fresh. i never had a problem with the service. i see someone complained about the runny dressing. that is the norm for the ginger dressing. all in all i like the soho i am glad to have another choice! haniyori is dirty, old and needs updated.

bar is beautiful. if you wanna have a great time sit in the bar. this place has a lot to offer. my husband and i just absolutely love a good beer when dinning out. we recently found this place and fell in love. this is our new spot. our bartender gave us great recommendations for not only beer but all of ourfoodand i mean from start to finish all of ourfoodand drinks were perfect. lots of good laughs, good food, stunning atmosphere, top notch service, and a wonderful beer selection makes this couple very happy to know we have something so close to home that makes the end of our day have a nice finish.

go to the bar. i have been going there for about a year and i will say i was going for just the sushi until one time i sat at the bar. this is where i dine now. the bartenders there give you the best service and they know a lot about the beer selection that is offered. they can pair up yourfoodwith a high quality beer better than anyone in the area. these guys will give you the best experience at soho.

disappointed. we ate in tappanyaki room - cook was ok;foodwas terrible; chicken was tough and difficult to cut through and seemed to have a skin or covering on it and was 'chewy'; fried rice was hard and tasteless-gross!; very limited amount of vegetables - looked like amount for two people and we were a party of 7; salad was good, service was so-so. this was a great disappointment compared to the several other japanese restaurants we have been to in various cities.

i read all the negative reviews about this place and shake my head. if you want authentic japanesefoodgo to japan....not an american chain restraunt. i have eaten a lot more expensive sushi that wasn't half as good. i took part in the "preferred customers club" and i was not told it was a 50 dollar gift card but was in fact a 25 dollar card. the wait staff has always been kind, curteous, responsive and welcoming. i have never had a problem with this place and i highly recommend it.

rushed by server. on dec. the 28th 2010 my friends chris, byron, and myself went to so ho bistro, we where sat in the dining area and had a young asian female waitress, we had told her several times that we where in no hurry and it would take us a few minutes to decide, i ordered a "four horseman's" beer, she seemed confused about what brand it was, then came back to tell me it was out, even though it's displayed in your entrance lobby window, so i ordered a dirty bastard scottish ale, again she seemed confused but found it. i then ordered a salad and miso soup, she brought both at the same time, for my entree i ordered a variety of sushi, it came before i had finished my soup or salad, when she sat down my platter, she tried to take my soup, i had to tell her "no" that i hadn't even started it yet, she apologized and said she should of gave us more time, as my friend byron was still eating his appetizer as well. i had finished my beer but was never offered another, when it came time for our checks, we asked for the bill to be split 3 ways, chris' bill was $43.00 he gave the server a visa gift card that had $50.00 dollars on it, it took her a few minutes, she came back and told chris that it only let her run it for $40.00, chris told her that he knew the card had $50.00 on it, but go ahead and put the other $3.00 on his other card, it took her awhile with the card again, and when she came back she told chris that she messed up and refunded the $40.00 back to his card by mistake, and it wouldn't let her re-run it again, she said she asked her manager for help, but he couldn't figure it out either? she seemed very confused, chris told her that he didn't want to pay for thefoodtwice if she didn't refund it back to the card correctly, she then told chris that she would just keep the card, chris was so frustrated with the issue that he told her to go ahead, even though there was another $10.00 left on the card.
ourfoodwas fantastic, but we felt very rushed by our server even though we told her several times we where in no hurry. after the issue with our check, i feel the server needed more training i wrote an email to they're website, never got a reply, will not go back again..

- fraudulent and misleading -. soho started a customer loyalty program. they give you a "soho" card and when you reach $ 500.00, they give you a $ 50.00 gift card.

we followed the program, spent the $ 500.00 and were only given a $ 25.00 gift card.

they lie. we are not the only people this has happened too, and their wait staff agrees that it was supposed to be a $ 50.00 card.

the managers do not care.

their averagefoodis not worth waiting for and being lied to over.

not recommended. restaurant atmosphere is great, but thefoodis decidedly average, westernized, and greatly overpriced.

for the food, i'd recommend toyo japanese grill over this place.
