excuse me, are you open?. good fresh food, custom built to order. lots of choices in order to get exactly what you want in your burger.

criticizm: i arrived late evening and wondered if they were open. no indication from the street side if they are open. window is blacked out, no "open" sign. drove around and saw all the chairs with their legs up, on the tables. looked empty. saw someone walking so i tried the door.

it opened so i stuck my had in and asked when they closed. the answer was that they would be closing in an hour!

they need to indicate to the street front whether or not they are open.

edit: i have returned 2 or 3 times and enjoy the burgers better, each time. good food. my advice: design your ownburgerexactly as you want it with any of many possible ingredients and buns. the price will likely be almost exactly what one of their suggested burgers on the menu is. take advantage of all the choices you have here.

this is probably the bestburgeri've had in a long time. it was filling and flavorful, and the smash fries were also delicious. i think i've made myself aburgersnob after this one.

this place was interesting. there are so many different types ofburgerjoints that everybody hypes up and they aren't that great. this place is a little of the opposite... the burgers are smashed right on the grill, which causes them to be very greasy. however, the flavor is great! they definitely suit your desires while still keeping things simple. the fries reminded me of mcdonalds and weren't great, the shakes are also just okay. the restaurant is a little small and things are crammed. it's definitely worth trying. it's a goodburgerthat flies a little under the radar. i'd say it's a 3/5...

i was pleasantly surprised. this was my first time eating at one of these restaurants and the food was really good. the haystacks onions were super thin and crispy and the fries were perfect! i also got a veggie sandwich (basically aburgerminus the meat) and it was exactly what i wanted. the staff was very attentive as well and made sure that i was getting exactly what i'd ordered. i will definitely eat here again.

smashburger. had a smashburger. meat was cooked perfect and fresh. too messy. buns need to be toasted. theburgerjust fell apart. hard to eat.

theburgerwas really good! i’d rate it above crownburgerand probably even in-n-out. it still doesn’t top my favorite place so far, lucky 13 – but it’s pretty close. i’ve already since been told that i need to try the fried pickles and i also want to try the sweet potato fries and veggie frites – so we will be back soon.

addicted. i don't what they are putting in their burgers but my wife and i are addicted. this has become our goto place - we have even found ourselves choosing it over "nicer" restaraunts. we may need rehab if it gets any worse.

mushroom swiss on egg bun +bacon + grilled onions -burgerperfection!

i went with the bbq bacon cheddar (bbq sauce, applewood smoked bacon, cheddar cheese and haystack onions on an egg bun), mostly because of the haystack onions. the bestburgeri’ve ever had in my life (raveburgerin san mateo) had the same onions on it. i’m not always big on bbq sauce, but it works very well here.

hands down the bestburgeraround, love the option of a multi-grain bun! fries are just average but they do have sweet potato fries.

i heard great reviews of this place from friends and of course here. honestly, i was very underwhelmed, unimpressed, etc. yeah theburgerwas alright but i could easily make it myself and have it taste the same. don't bother with the chili cheese fries. the chili tasted canned. will definitely keep going to five guys. it's better and the service is faster.

in love. why is it so hard to find a good burger? i will never know. what i do know is that smashburger is a fabulous example of how to do a great burger. the bun is perfect, the beef is juicy, rightfully greasy, flavorful, and has a great crust. everything aburgershould be. the lettuce is super fresh and the pickles are way superior to your everyday dill. it is worth going for the caloric behemoth of the 1/2 lb. version and skipping the fries. while hood, they ate not great and they can't compete with that burger.

in an effort not to look too pre-formed and pre-made, they smash theburgerpatty. this gives the wholeburgera rustic look, i guess.

prices a bit high. i enjoyed smashburger a lot. theburgerwas quality and their smashfries were decent. i appreciate the audacity to actually doctor their fries up a bit with various herbs. i got their beehiveburgerevery time i have gone, and there is no doubt it's good stuff.
however, their prices are a bit high in my opinion. there are no combo meals withburgerand fries, or even a drink. they do offer like a 50cent discount if you order aburgerand fries though. aside from that, a full combo meal will set you back about $8-10. if the full meal was around $7 i would have no problem, but every time i go to smashburger i always think about astroburgerjust across the street and feel like i would have gotten a similar quality meal for less money.

overall, good food, just a tad high in price though. worth the visit for the unique burgers they offer though.

fantastic burgers. this is a step up from the traditional in-and-out or apolloburgerfast food burgers in my opinion. i love the bbq honey bacon beehive burger. the smash fries are ok. not my fave but worry a try. in the old u food location (which was terrible food by the way) in the parking lot of jo-ann fabric store on 123rd south.
