slates, candia ave, cape coral,fl., here is my 2 cents on the food, rant & rave plus chatter. the food.
today brunch item. 8 oz. ribeye, with 2 eggs, a salsa on top and house potatoe. cooked medium rare of course. a carnivore delight prepared to specifications. to be honest i prefer the traditional way. of just the steak alone. but this was very good. i had a cocktail called a pimm, delightful.
and of course the very unique new orleans beignet . served hot and so sweet. it came with some type of i believe raspberry sauce . i hated this too sour.
rave... always wonderful and exquisite food.
rant...not able to afford to eat here more often.
service was outstanding. plus a new orlean band playing in the background.
sssssooooooooooooo good. here is my 2 cents. this the 2nd time eating here. the food is just outstanding. it is spicy and so flavorable. i had the crawfish etouffee and my wife had the shrimp poor boy.
the seafood is fresh and melts in your mouth.the etouffee is full of crawfish and so spicy. maybe too spicy for floridians. plus if you need more heat (like me) they offer additional choice sauces. the first time eating key lime pie was great. though we had to wait for the chef to make the whip cream, it was so worth it. ( i make my own whip cream. i know fresh whip cream ;-) )
service was again out standing

a bit of heaven in the cape. wow!!!! slate's...i have had this booked mark for a while. i am ashamed i waited so long.
i must warn all the wimpy sw floridians who do not appreciate real & spicy food. stay away. this is for the adventurous.
i was here for lunch on a friday. around noon time..
my server cheri was fantastic. attentive ,able to quote the special of the day, & answer my questions.
the gumbo was outstanding. it was almost as good as mine. it had just the right amount of roux. along with shrimp, andouille, and chicken . the layer of flavor was great. it was spicy enough so you did not need to add more heat. just enough to say aaahhhhh. the dish alone would make most floridians cry big tears.
the shrimp po boy is to die for....4 fresh off the boat large shrimp. cooked to melt in mouth your texture. the sauce was just enough to compliment the shrimp. thecajunpotatoes are so good..
so for all you wannabe mardi gras folks you must come here. you will not be disappointed in the cuisine.
