skip one 41 - seafood restaurant and market

i am was told this place had the bestgrouperand shrimp. they were right! will go back every year.

amazing friedgroupersandwich with good grated sauce and garlic bread. haven’t had agroupersandwich that good in ages. service was friendly and fast. definitely worth going out of your way for.

i have been buying seafood at the market for about four years and it’s always great. i had company in town and decided to take them there for dinner, my first time. we where very disappointed. thegrouperwas fishy tasting and my coconut shrimp was dry and the shrimp was old i think. i’m not going back to eat there, buy seafood and fix at home.

how in the hell is basa $13.95 when in any market it costs $2.99 to $3.99 a lb?groupernuggets, not even a filet $20!!! someone dropped them on their heads. i am an excellent cook, i will get my own fish and use french bread breadcrumbs and organic ingredients and spices. they don't even do anything special to the food to charge this much. the prices are ridiculous here. the quality does not measure up to the prices. no sharing, no substitutions, what if someone does not want the saggy hush puppies? thanks, but no thanks.

had just fished all day and were driving home when we saw the seafood sign. we were up for trying something new, so stopped. we had anticipations of a dive, with great food. it lived up to our expectations!groupernuggets were great and a ton of them. we had the cold stone crab app with a special "mustard" sauce...delicious! also had the fried oyster platter which was delicious. overall, good food and good value. glass of wine, $3.25, can't beat it!

no more. in the pastgroupersandwiches seemed pretty good.

however, this time, the sea bass was too over-priced, small portions (after asking in advance and being told the portion would be generous), and over-seasoned. there was an awful urine smell that come from the bathroom, only 10 feet from our table. tried to move... but too overpowering... will not go back, again.

my ffirst time. we moved to f.m. 10 years ago but have been visitors here since 1988. we have never visited skip one at it's original location but decided to visit their new location this evening. our first and last time. jill and i both orders a glass of stella artois, both of them arrived in the traditional stemmed glass that is traditional to stella the next two came in different glasses in shape and size. our server tried to make thing right but seemed rather clueless.
we both ordered the combo platters both had had the cajun friedgrouper, jills other item was the cajun fried shrimp my second item was the buffalo shrimp. having lived in new orleans for 3 years as well as working in the food service industry i am very familiar with cajun fried. all of the items that were c. f. came out with a burnt appearance and did not have the crispiness that one usually associates wit something c.f., if there was any corn meal used it was not detectable. the buffalo shrimp did not remind you in taste or texture of buffalo anything and was only served with 2 very small celery sticks. the fries were good but the applesauce side was in a pre portioned and motts container.
questionable service, poor presentation and food that was just ok all equals a bad first time experience.

good fried seafood meal. not designed for dining atmosphere, but the friedgrouperand shrimp were fresh and tasty.

not going back. 6/22/13 cute place,friendly staff,smells like a bait house (yes..lots of seafood places have an oder..this was strong) clam chowder was thick and gritty, grilled combo,6 tasteless shrimp and small piece of overcooked mahi.$17..friend had house salad,ok,groupersandwich was ok $16. maybe it was a bad night for them,but we wont be going back.

skip one is the epitome of perfect seafood. i've hadgrouperat over 100 restaurants theoughout the u.s. and confirm skip one as the best... this place is the real deal...

we always look for the local "dives" for the absolute best fresh seafood. this one did not disappoint! only disappointment was the small hushpuppies - small, overcooked...and no onions. fried shrimp awesome -groupereven better. will go back for sure!

back home in indiana and still thinking about that crunchygroupersandwich. when traveling, i am always looking for the "mom and pops" for authentic tasty eats and skip one fills that bill to a t. try the fresh thickgroupersandwich quickly deep-fried for a light but very crunchy coating. superb! the best i've had!

after reading the reviews we decided to try it. crunchygrouperwas awesome. quick service. great food!

grilledgroupersandwich. contrary to the scrumptious clam chowder that has endeared me to skip one for a lifetime, the grilledgroupersandwich is just plain ordinary -- luke warm grouper, soggy white bread, wilted lettuce -- clearly lacking the trappings for greatness. get your kitchen in order!! we want to love this place.

clam chowder. clam chowder here exists in its primordial form rich with chunks of clam meat steeped in a thick creamy base. it has a zesty peppery flavor that makes you want the next bite more than the last.

where to get a seafood fix!. i love a crunchygroupersandwich with a cup of 1/2 and 1/2 clam and conch chowder with a cold beer, yummmmm!!!!
