soni have been amongst the first person, along with my partner, to go to this place. i was there the evening where it was not even opened yo the public! now, i do say that the place is stunning and the cocktails are amazing. problem: their attitude litterally sucks, especially at the door. they behave like they make you a favour... this happened few weeks ago and yet again last night we had a terrible experience. my partner and myself went in for a drink at around 8.30pm. at the door we were told to wait 30 seconds as they needed to inspect the place!!!!! once in, with the place almost empty (i counted 10 clients at the time)they told us we could sit only in one specific place. of course i went to another couch and we were told that the couch is a 6 seaters and we should move in case a group comes in!!!! at that point we left and went nextdoor to coalition which, with a full bar, welcomed us in the best manner. now, let me explain you something guys: we are european andnwe have been amongst the topcocktailbars in the world: milan, paris, madrid, london, amsterdam, new york, hong kong, bruxelles and i can go on. we certainly don't need to come to your place and by not coming our life won't change a bit. we, and our circle of friends, will support your nextdoor bar. on the contrary your life is going to change by lacking people coming and spending big money with you. things don't last and when in 12 months time you are going to struggle for people coming to you, you will definitely regret the way you treat your clients in good times. also, yourcocktailprices are the same as marble!!! marble is a super upmarket place where plenty of money have been invested. please remember that you need to justify those prices (your place is very nice but not even close to the investment the guys from marbles put in). i however wish you good luck and you definitely will not see me again until such time you will change that superior attitude of yours....

we almost missed this spot. in fact, we had just come out of a restaurant around the corner and were waiting for our uber, when one of the guys in our party noticed it. there is no signage that i could see, but the 2 doormen called the hostess and she went in to prepare a table for us.

we walked into a cosy, vibey little bar with a loud buzz, and were seated at a table and couches set up with glasses of ice cold water and popcorn. the waiter/barman came to explain the 2cocktailmenus to us and our gorgeous drinks were freshly made and quickly served.

the selection of drinks were very unique and the prices reflected this (!) but it was the perfect end to our evening.

mixology at its best. this hidden gem of a bar is really ultra cool and has the most talented mixologists. loved the menu - the theme up until july is high tea with elephants with thecocktailmenu offering styles and tastes of cocktails that are quirky, fun and very tasty.

spectacular!! i love a dedicatedcocktailbar. the service, the lighting, the music.... it’s just brilliant.
and then you get the recipes. attention to detail is amazing. every ingredient is perfect selected and used, to create a balanced and sumptuous drink.

thecocktailmenu is intriguing - nothing is the norm. i had to try the one containing olive oil and basil - it was interesting, but i have discovered i am definitely more inclined towards girlie drinks. however, one needs to be adventurous as there are so many delicious flavour combinations out there that need to be explored.

the drinks are on the pricey side - but for good reason - you're paying for the experience, quality and art, the bartender is an absolute artist.

great ambience, great look, amazing music and of course delicious cocktails.
service is phenomenal. i didn't have to try get attention from the staff at any stage of the evening. they all on the ball.

bestcocktailbar in jhb!!! if you are looking for a speakeasy bar that is similar to hidden speakeasy bars in europe then this is the place to go. amazing cocktails. perfect place for a date.

speakeasy vibe and decor compete with concealed entrance, this is a gem if you really want to experience cocktails. experience because this isn't just tasting it's everything from the dim lighting and skilled, knowledgeable bar staff to the use of contraptions you haven't seen before.
capacity isn't much more than 30 people so if you are fortunate enough to get in, savour it.
the no.11 with olive oil i guarantee is like nothing you've ever tasted before. from the cloudiness to the texture to the slick sensation left on your lips after, it's a must try as was the take on a whisky sour made with bacardi 8 by julian.

this is by far the bestcocktailbar in the country!

this "secret bar" is amazing! it's completely hidden away down an alley through a door you would never think to enter (ask the coalition dudes to direct you). it's a mixologycocktailbar! each drink is a a taste sensation unlike any other. the service is phenomenal! i was seated and immediately brought a jug of ice water. the cocktails on the limited menu are themed (they change monthly i think) and i tried the no.9 from the travel themed menu which i highly recommend! a very strong smokey flavour which i absolutely loved! number 14 was also really tasty. the friendly waitress brought complimentary popcorn, twice :) i look forward to going back to try more! take a look at the menu to see the awesome variety. the lighting is nice and dimmed - the candles lit create a relaxing and comfortable atmosphere. there are coaches and high tables. awesome place with a great energy!
