seven fish

sexy on a plate. we are on vacation in key west. four of us ate at sevenfishtonight. the seafood was very fresh, reasonably priced, and melted in your mouth. it is a simple ambiance because it is located in a low key neighborhood. the dining room is very small but that adds to the feel of the place.

we had the goat cheese and red pepper salad. it was great. the freshfishof the day is what you should get. i had the fresh tuna and tried some of the fresh mahi. the tuna was some of the best i have ever tasted. the mahi was equally good. for desert we had the bananas foster. it is very rich but great. highly recommend this place!!

one of the best meals i've ever had. gnocchi with sautedfishcooked to perfection. great service and atmosphere. not to be missed.

first, the parking here like every where on key west is miserable. the ambiance was okay, but nothing special. i had the shrimp andfishover pasta dish. it was good, but again nothing special. we finished the dinner with a slice of key lime cheesecake. this was the highlight of the dinner.

fantastic! this is a fine restaurant with five star food. staff is fun and well tuned. we had the freshfishand local scallops. perfect. to be honest, this is a true find in kw.

sevenfishis perhaps the least "key west like" of all the restaurants in key west. the new building, on truman ave, is sleek and modern and airy, and the total lack of acoustics leads to an incredibly loud dining experience, which i found to virtually ruin what might otherwise have been a nice evening out with old friends.
the food focuses on fresh seafood, however meat lovers also have a couple of menu options, including a steak and a meatloaf dish. the food is quite good, and is attractively plated.
service on the night of our visit could best be described as adequate. our waitress was friendly, when we saw her, but she confused several orders, possibly due to the fact we didn't want to shout our drink and meal orders out, and she didn't confirm what we ordered. a non-drinker was served alcohol, and when he complained she at first insisted it was alcohol free, which it was not. she promised to bring bread to the table, but then neglected to do so.
again, the food we received was tasty, attractive and well portioned, and that should have been enough to make for a perfectly enjoyable meal out. but it just wasn't. shouting comments for over an hour back and forth across the dinner table, being misunderstood, and having to keep repeating yourself over the din of the background noise wasn't much fun. and isn't that a big part of what dining out with friends is supposed to be about?

rate this place a 4.9. our best / favorite dinner in key west. sevenfishhas creatively prepared seafood. it is small and seemed busy even later but so very good. don't miss!!

yay! key west pride 2015! reservations! just off the beaten duval path, one can find seven fish, which is often overlooked by tourists, but well-known to locals and regular vacationers. did i mention reservations?

i can say, the mixed grill is excellent! this is chicken, shrimp, and veggies - all on a stick! ok, it is actually a skewer, but ever since i was a kid, i called them sticks.

now, sevenfishis kinda on the pricey side, but the atmosphere plus the food makes it quite a dining experience. service is very good with friendly wait staff.

don't waste your time on this place, there's way way better places in keywest. thefishis ok. nothing to write home about. do not get the desert! the brownie is cold, the "bananas flambu" is a sad knockoff of the new orleans bananas foster, it's served all mixed together like a bowl of cereal, and the key lime cheesecake is sour and needs way more sugar and cream. they need some help! good luck with this one!

sevenfishis an amazing restaurant!!! the steak was so tender and delicious and the sauce they served over it was out of this world! the grouper was awesome and the chicken and shrimp were grilled to perfection, not too overcooked or undercooked, but was grilled perfectly. i definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants great food!

went here with family and one of them had been here and thought it was so "awesome" our server was this tall woman who was just snarky and b*tchy. while the food was decent, there was zero presentation and considering it was key west,fishis local catch it was way overpriced for what it is. nothing impressive about it other than they only had like may ten tables and all food are just schlep on to a bowl.

does not live up to the hype. this is a classic case of an average restaurant in a sea of mediocre restaurants that people seem to get excited about. sevenfishwould not survive in a larger city where we had more choice. we waited about half hour for our table (though we had a reservation and was promised the table when we got there in "five minutes") because the previous diners at our table couldn't find their car and it took one of them a while to get back. why the host could not have asked them to wait for their ride on the bench outside the restaurant is beyond me. the service was very fast once we got in and we thanked the service staff profusely for that. however, the food was good to not so good. the signature snapper with curry cream was good but would not pass for a "signature" dish in better restaurants. other dishes were simply forgettable. in closing, if you are a "foodie" or simply a traveller that appreciates good local food, you will not be satisfied with seven fish.

just okay. being a total foodie, i was looking for one great meal in key west. i thought sevenfishwould fit that bill. i was wrong. the menu looked great but the waitress recommended the special, snapper in a mild curry sauce with sushi rice. it sounded great but wasn't. the curry sauce was so mild that it didn't have any flaver. the entire dish was uninspired and lacking flavor. i've had betterfishat many restaurants. i think this might have just been a poor choice for the special. my friend had the shrimp scampi and said it was wonderful.

considering what you receive, i think this restaurant if very expensive and probably not worth it.

service was great! we came in right before closing time and they sat us with no worries. 3 freshfishdaily. we had the bar jack. best seafood of my life! if you go to key west, then you must go here.

won't go back. i must be the only person who does not like this place. went to celebrate my sister's birthday for her maiden voyage to key west. too bad the host insulted her for daring to try to get out ofvthe way in this overcrowded, noisy, restaurant. my dish was tasteless, but the shitake mushroom and crab pasta was excellent and my sister special of grilledfishwas pretty good too. nothing grabbed us for dessert. no espresso. i wouldn't go back. feel like you just gotta eat outdoors here.
