if you are vegan or not these are the bestflapjacksthat i have ever had! they are fluffy and flavourful. the combination of the fresh and slightly tart strawberries with the mild banana combined with the drizzle of agave is an incredibly palatable combination. and to top it off their nut ice cream is absolutely luxurious. matchaflapjacksfor the win!

a great vegan restaurant. i’ve tried a few dishes:

the vegan burger is delicious (i’ve ordered it several times because the flavour is spot on) however the charcoal bread bun consistently crumbles every time i’ve had this burger, which is a big negative for this tasty burger.

the falafel wrap tastes good and the flavours are as you would expect from this meal.

the raw beetroot juice is good.

my flatmate and i love all their desserts - the snickers bar is pictured here and it’s a winner.

i’ve had both the muffins that they offer (one is bran and the other has a spiced coffee flavour), both muffins are very oily and crumbly and i won’t order them again. these recipes and flavours should be improved.

i’ve heard that their pumpkinflapjacksare incredible and i’m looking forward to tasting them.

the vibe in raw is happy hippie and it’s a cool spot to enjoy vegan goodness or to get yourself a takeaway.

great interior, really fitting to their whole healthy vegan vibe. the tables are quite small but that’s to utilize space. i ordered an americano and it was perfect and strong. for breakfast i had the avo, truffle oil and chili. it looked small when it arrived but i couldn’t even finish it. the bread was divine. i had a taste of the pumpkin pieflapjacksand they are delicious, i can see why they have a reputation.

first time trying this place and it exceeded expectations! i loved the pumpkin flapjacks...sweeter and slightly more dense than normalflapjacksbut wow, this was yummy. the vegan ice cream that accompanied it was so creamy and so perfect for a hot day. we also tried the veggie scramble - i enjoyed the texture of the tofu but there was too much turmeric. the vegan sausage was also a bit salty. i personally prefer my guacamole on the side rather than on top of the toast but that’s being picky. the cold pressed pine juice was refreshing and the choc mylk tasted like a milkshake. the place is a bit small with tables quite close to each other but it has a nice vibe. also note, they don’t take reservations on a weekend. service was speedy and our waiter even volunteered to walk us to our car as there was a dodgy guy hanging around 👍🏽 definitely try out this place even if you’re a big meat lover, it won’t disappoint.

unfortunately the service is not good. i have been here a couple of times when i have actually left because we haven’t even been helped despite sitting for 20 minutes and even asking for menus.

that being said, the food is good. theflapjacksare very filling and a good portion size. my favourite is the falafel wrap. due to this i do tend to go back and each time hope the service has improved.

definitely don’t go if you are in a rush or starving.
if the service improves i’ll be going back a lot more.

i have heard how popular this place is and the very long wait for a table supported this. many people raved about theflapjacksbut when i finally got them, it was not an enjoyable meal. they we both dry and stodgy at the same time, and they could have done with a bit more flavour and toppings. glad we finally tried it but don't think we will be going back any time soon.

i had been wanting to to try this place out ever since it opened and i'm glad that i finally did. i had the most incredible brunch on a saturday morning.

i had the matchaflapjacksand my brother had the pumpkin flapjacks. there were both absolutely delicious. wholesome and fluffy and rich in flavour. to drink i coupled my dish with the matcha latte which wasn't bad either, although i've had better from other establishments such as mugg & bean.

the only thing stopping me from rating this restaurant 5 stars is the incredibly long waiting time for the food, and even the drinks (especially the smoothie, which shouldn't even take that long to make) to the point where is call it unreasonable.

the whole experience was definitely marred by the waiting time, although the atmosphere is lovely the food is incredibly delicious

i was excited to try out this unique breakfast spot. ever since tasting vegan ice cream at unframed, i've been very interested in trying out other vegan food products. unfortunately, scheckter's raw left me a bit disappointed.

i opted for the famous matcha flapjacks. maybe they just weren't to my taste, or maybe coupled with a matcha latte, it was just too much matcha for one day. point is, although theflapjackswere fresh and fluffy, i felt they were way too doughy and i was full after only a few bites. too much flapjack and not enough to go with it in my opinion.

i did finish my latte though, and thoroughly enjoyed it. healthy doesn't come cheap, and a quick breakfast for one set me back r130. i'm glad i came to experience it though. i think it's a great new trend that everyone should try at least once!

schechter's is the sunday morning health in the hangover, if you don't mind the crowd and the gym outfits.

the warm peanuty hearty quinoa porridge with a cappuccino really hit the winter spot with all its richness. the coffee, i must say, is exceptionally delicious.

the pumpkin pieflapjacksgot us excited, unfortunately. it tastes as if they really tried hard to make sweet, savoury, failed at it and just tasted like the dough. the side of vegan ice cream was a last ditch attempt. still a fan but not of that.

i had the amazing opportunity to have brunch here with a good foodie friend of mine. (by "foodie friend" i mean she loves food just as much as i love it!) we decided on scheckter's raw because 1, it's on the entertainer app, so buy one get one (yes please!) and 2, we are always trying to find all the healthy places to dine at.

we have been speaking about coming here for a while now as we really wanted to try out the flapjacks, but it is not available on the entertainer app (only main meals) and i refuse to pay r80 for flapjacks! so what is the next best choice? burgers!!!

okay so first, lets start on the drinks. as it was a cold rainy day, we decided on coffee. i had an organic americano. it was so tasty and warmed me up from the inside. i think they use their own brand of organic coffee so brownie points to you guys! my friend had the mocha latte and it looked amazing! it came with such a cute cup, i literally wanted to take it home with me!

okay, onto the burgers. omg. i do not have words for this. so when the burgers arrived, all i saw was the black bun. i didn't want to tell my friend, but the only thing that i was thinking was "no ways i am eating black bread". i was pleasantly surprised though! it honestly tasted like "normal" bread, just not as heavy as "normal" bread. we had the cvc (cajun vegan chicken), the "chicken patty" tasted amazing. honestly, if you gave me that and told me it's chicken, i would totally believe you. the bbq sauce that they used was so flavourful and worked amazing with the huge chunk of avo on the burger.

the burgers came with sweet potato fries, which we all know is definitely my fav. the fries tasted like they were baked, not fried, which is a little better than oily chips (even though oily chips are good on their day). the vegan aioli that accompanied the fries were just amazing! i wanted to lick out the little serving of aioli! they also sell small pots of the vegan aioli.

before we came, i read some reviews on zomato which said that the service was a little slow. i am not going to lie to you, the service is slow, but once your order is in things go quick!

i would definitely be back as i really want to try the thai red curry, theflapjacks(when i am rich enough) and the smoothies (on a warmer day)!  they also have delicious, clean desserts which includes snickers bars, cheesecakes and oreos to name a few. these desserts go for r55 each. that is a little pricey for a girl on a budget hey!

but anyways, good job guys! keep up the good work, i will see you again soon!

had a really fabulous brunch at scheckters raw. we couldn't decide on savoury /sweet so we ended up getting one of each and sharing - the best way to try more of the menu :) matchaflapjacksand a veggie wrap washed down with frothy cappuccinos. winner of a sunday morning.  loved the fresh flavours and the presentation was lovely.

p.s. get the flapjacks. they're so good.

we visited scheckter's raw for breakfast one morning, and we were definitely not disappointed. the restaurant is very open plan, and has a lot of natural lighting. the decor is clean with wooden finishes, providing an organic look. there are stone buddha statues positioned around the restaurant giving a relaxed feel. the seating is built around a central bar where the staff are brewing coffees, and blending smoothies.
we started with the kashew king and berry delicious smoothies. the kashew king was deliciously thick and buttery, as opposed to the much lighter, and slightly tangy berry delicious.
for food we ordered the matchaflapjacksand pumpkin pie flapjacks. the presentation was simple, but looked amazing. the matchaflapjackswere light and fluffy and paired well with the sweetness of the banana slices and the tartness of the strawberries. the pumpkin pieflapjackswere substantially heavier than the matcha ones, but still delicious. it was served with a side of vegan ice cream which was a nice accompaniment.
the service was prompt and friendly.
it is nice to see a health food restaurant produce such flavourful food.
we will definitely be back to try out their other items!

keeping an open mind and trying places i wouldn't normally is what my food adventure is all about. and very often i am pleasantly surprised. scheckters stands out head and shoulders above the rest and there are a lot of good breakfast restaurants in this area.
the restaurant has beautiful heavy, long wooden tables for communal dining and a central counter with infused water to freshen your mouth before eating.
the menu is extraordinary. there is a huge focus on healthy alternatives and unusual ingredients. i started with a juice made with pineapple, ,coconut water, broccoli, parsley, ginger & lemon. it was excellent. i then had a cappuccino with coconut sugar. yummy. i had theflapjacksand was surprised by the very large portion i received. it was made with organic matcha, hemp seeds, agave, brown rice flour, chickpea flour, almonds, flax seeds, vanilla, cinnamon and typed with strawberries, banana & whipped coconut milk cream. it was incredibly delicious!

i' m coming back to try more of this amazing menu!
