salvatori's is sensational!. my wife got a tip from one of her co-workers about salvatori's. since she is italian, i figured if she was this excited about the place, it must be worth trying. i owe her a huge debt of gratitude!salvatori'sis a special place! i love the atmosphere, the hospitality, but especially the food! i was blown away at both the quality and portion size of each dish! i had the bisilicata sausage and peppers, my wife had the chicken apulia, and our three kids enjoyed the spaghetti and meatball. all three were excellent! i recommendsalvatori'sto anyone who enjoys the very best in italian cuisine! you will not be disappointed!

my husband and i have stopped atsalvatori's(original new haven location)  for years on our way from oh to mi to visit family. our first stop there was simply because it was at our halfway mark.  now we go there because we are addicted.  i do not use the term "addicted" lightly but i'll admit we were and still are gastronomically adhered to this place!  after loving the food in italy when traveling abroad we were amazed when we found the best italian food of our lives, about 2.5 hrs from our home in dayton, oh  we've tried their spaghetti, lasagna, pasta primavera, italian wedding soup, and many many other of their delicious dishes and each one was a perfection of rich italian flavor with pasta always cooked expertly and served piping hot!  this restaurant is an inconspicuous hole in the wall with booths and tables rather close together and usually packed with customers who wait, a bit uncomfortably, near the open kitchen.  the service is friendly but not fast as the kitchen is busy with so many customers for so small a place   but there is no doubt the wait is absolutely worth it.  tomorrow we will again pick up our large pan of lasagna to haul to mich so that we can feed the hungry crowd of teens that await our arrival, not because they are necessarily glad to see us, but because of the treasure we bring them.  everyone in our family loves it.  mmmm in factsalvatori'slasagna and garlic bread, of this caliber, is our secret to get them off their computers long enough to quickly greet us and shout, let's eat!  this place works magic on all of us!

special post christmas delight. on our holiday travels found this very small, outstanding restaurant in a pilot station! who'd of thunk it. this delightful surprise lunch dining experience definitely putssalvatori'son the map of our on the road dining stops! had the lunch-time special of lasanga with house salad. portions were perfect and a great value. house salad just the right size with fresh mix of vegetables, side dressing, served with crusty garlic bread, finally roadside diner that knows to give bread with the salad! we also ordered 2 of their award winning cinnamon rolls to take to our hosts, they were happily devoured quickly. thanks for showing that real food, with real seasonings, and fresh made breads will lead us all to your door.

hidden gem. visited on recent weeknight - called ahead for reservation (this place is very popular).

shrimp scampi starter - tasty, but would have appreciated the sauce to be a touch lighter (not so heavy), and could have used a spoon to properly eat the pasta.

lasagne - amazingly large (if you choose the full) portion. easily shared between two folks, or take some home for another meal. well made and delicious.

pizza - salvatori supreme was very tasty. thin crust would've been nicer with a bit more crunch (and would've held up better under the smorgasbord of toppings), but the flavor was very nice. the angelica's toppings were incredibly fresh and delicious. the chef took great care with this pie, and it showed.

wine - interestingly, all glasses of wine are $6, while a bottle of wine (that's right... any of them on the menu) is $20. their chianti was tasty, stored properly, and was served in tasteful glassware.

overall impression - the food and wine were excellent with a couple of petty/minor exceptions on my behalf. the atmosphere fits exactly whatsalvatori'sis: a quaint little italian joint in a gas station. this is not fine dining, nor do they pretend to fit that category. the service can get spotty at times - they're very busy, and there was only one very nice lady out front to take care of the whole place.

go for the food. heck, call ahead and take it home if they're packed! don't go with expectations of tablecloths and chandeliers.

wonderful!. the first time we heard ofsalvatori'swas from a friend. they suggested we try it, and when asking for directions, was told it was by a truck stop. couldn't imagine an italian restaurant worth anything being alongside a truck stop, but went anyway. first visit was to taco bell, sincesalvatori'swas packed. next visit was earlier, and we've been a regular since. the food, service, staff, are all tremendous! tell a friend.

love it!. we have been going tosalvatori'sfor about a year now and each time we leave saying it is the best italian food we've ever had! each time i go, i try something new or at least try to because so many of the items are becoming my favs! the breadsticks are a must...best in the area! thesalvatori'ssalad is terrific. the portions are very generous and makes dinner not only wonderful but a great value too. our little secret has gotten out because we never go without reservations now. don and the waitstaff are awesome even though they are hoppin' on the weekends we are there. even if there is would be a tiny glitch in service (which we've never experienced), the food would more than make up for it. oh, and everything they say about the cinnamon roll - it's true and then some! a must try!

food so good you will want to kiss the cook!!. i have eaten atsalvatori'shalf a dozen times now, and wish it was a higher number! we have sampled the salads, the lasagna (amazing!!!!), the fettucini alfredo (my husband nearly wept it was so good!), and several of the specialty pastas. every single time we were amazed at how delicious the food was! yes, it's tiny, and in a strange location, but frankly my dears, you won't care about any of that after trying their freshly made, delicious food!! i highly recommendsalvatori'sto everyone i meet!

excited, satisfied, and very full customer~. omg! since our return from europe, we have been wanting some traditional italian faire, not the americanized version that is so popular. through talking with some traveling friends, they suggested we try salvatori's. what a wonderful experience. they serve imported pasta's, homemade sauces from authentic family recipes, and a terrific staff. the food was absolutely outstanding. the owner came out to greet us, making it feel like a real 'family' restaurant as we enjoyed in every italian eatery in europe. i would highly recommend you try this traditional fare. do not be put off on their location at the the sunoco station, east of new haven. my first time, but certainly not my last. the desserts are to die for. all of them were as wonderful as the entree's. please open asalvatori'sin decatur!!!!!!!!!!

huge portions, casual atmosphere.salvatori'sdoesn't look like much from the outside - it shares a building with a sunoco gas station and a taco bell - but the food is excellent, you get a lot for your money, and the service is friendly. this was our first visit, but we heard the staff greet a couple of regulars by name and joke around with them. we both had full orders of pasta dishes. i can't wait to try their sandwiches and pizza.

omg!. where do i start? i fell in love with the food the first time that i ate here. i agree that the location might not be the ideal spot and that you may have to wait during prime times, but you will not be disappointed. the portions are so large that i always go home with a box.
all that i can say is try this place just 1 time. i can not imagine that you will walk away disappointed. i really hope that sammy opens up another largersalvatori'sin fort wayne. he does it right!
