salvatori's is sensational!. my wife got a tip from one of her co-workers about salvatori's. since she is italian, i figured if she was this excited about the place, it must be worth trying. i owe her a huge debt of gratitude! salvatori's is a special place! i love the atmosphere, the hospitality, but especially the food! i was blown away at both the quality and portion size of each dish! i had the bisilicata sausage and peppers, my wife had the chicken apulia, and our three kids enjoyed the spaghetti and meatball. all three were excellent! i recommend salvatori's to anyone who enjoys the very best in italian cuisine! you will not be disappointed!

best italian. this is the best italian restaurant in the fw area. the meatballs - either on sub sandwich or spaghetti - are amazing. also, if you order even a half order of spaghetti you will have leftovers!

better than casa. i've been there twice and i have not walked away disappointed with the food or pice. my wife claims their fettuccine alfredo is some of the best she has had. i've had the sausage and peppers once and the chicken marsala special another time and it was great for the price.

the only problem is that the atmosphere. it is could be featured on diner, drive-ins and dives so being in a gas station is not the problem. the last time we went we had some one light up a cigarette by us, forcing us to leave (due to smoke allegories). the place is too small to have separate sections and the city of new haven allows it. the owner gave us a piece of berry tiramisu (good though not a traditional tiramisu) because of it and had said that he had considered putting a sign up. they don't have ash trays out so they don't encourage it but it is something to prepare for. it was unfortunate but they wrapped up our food and we took it to go without a hassle. the waitress was very nice about the whole thing. they went above and beyond in spite of the inconsiderate smokers there.

my husband and i have stopped at salvatori's (original new haven location)  for years on our way from oh to mi to visit family. our first stop there was simply because it was at our halfway mark.  now we go there because we are addicted.  i do not use the term "addicted" lightly but i'll admit we were and still are gastronomically adhered to this place!  after loving the food in italy when traveling abroad we were amazed when we found the best italian food of our lives, about 2.5 hrs from our home in dayton, oh  we've tried their spaghetti, lasagna, pasta primavera, italian wedding soup, and many many other of their delicious dishes and each one was a perfection of rich italian flavor with pasta always cooked expertly and served piping hot!  this restaurant is an inconspicuous hole in the wall with booths and tables rather close together and usually packed with customers who wait, a bit uncomfortably, near the open kitchen.  the service is friendly but not fast as the kitchen is busy with so many customers for so small a place   but there is no doubt the wait is absolutely worth it.  tomorrow we will again pick up our large pan of lasagna to haul to mich so that we can feed the hungry crowd of teens that await our arrival, not because they are necessarily glad to see us, but because of the treasure we bring them.  everyone in our family loves it.  mmmm in fact salvatori's lasagna and garlic bread, of this caliber, is our secret to get them off their computers long enough to quickly greet us and shout, let's eat!  this place works magic on all of us!

best italian restaurant in fort wayne. finally got to salvatori's. i ordered the fettuccini alfredo and the spouse ordered spaghetti and meatballs. also ordered a side salad. everything was delivered promptly. the fettuccini!!! omg. died and went to heaven.... creamy sauce and perfectly cooked noodles. the spaghetti....ditto. haven't had italian this good since we visited pennsylvania.
the waitress frequently checked our table for needs. to show the level of attention to detail, when she was boxing up our leftovers, she spilled just a drop of the tomato sauce from the spaghetti into the box for the fettuccini. anyone else would have just ignored that and loaded away. nope, she got a new box so the white sauce wouldn't be contaminated by the tomato sauce. amazing!
this place is located, in of all things, a truck stop. from the outside, it looks like a neighborhood dive. the interior décor is truck stop. but the food! closest to 5 star this city has!

special post christmas delight. on our holiday travels found this very small, outstanding restaurant in a pilot station! who'd of thunk it. this delightful surprise lunch dining experience definitely puts salvatori's on the map of our on the road dining stops! had the lunch-time special of lasanga with house salad. portions were perfect and a great value. house salad just the right size with fresh mix of vegetables, side dressing, served with crusty garlic bread, finally roadside diner that knows to give bread with the salad! we also ordered 2 of their award winning cinnamon rolls to take to our hosts, they were happily devoured quickly. thanks for showing that real food, with real seasonings, and fresh made breads will lead us all to your door.

good lasagna!. finally! this was the first time we had lasagna cooked properly here in fort wayne! the pasta was not mush. very good, next to mine : ) the italian house salad dressing is tasty also. and the wedding ball soup is made in house, and full of balls. we'll be back and try another dish. service was also good and friendly, even though he did take too long to get to our table. and please people when you go out to eat, don't talk so loud so everyone can hear what kind of ailments you have or when you last had your heart attack, but thank you for not blowing your nose.

hidden gem. visited on recent weeknight - called ahead for reservation (this place is very popular).

shrimp scampi starter - tasty, but would have appreciated the sauce to be a touch lighter (not so heavy), and could have used a spoon to properly eat the pasta.

lasagne - amazingly large (if you choose the full) portion. easily shared between two folks, or take some home for another meal. well made and delicious.

pizza - salvatori supreme was very tasty. thin crust would've been nicer with a bit more crunch (and would've held up better under the smorgasbord of toppings), but the flavor was very nice. the angelica's toppings were incredibly fresh and delicious. the chef took great care with this pie, and it showed.

wine - interestingly, all glasses of wine are $6, while a bottle of wine (that's right... any of them on the menu) is $20. their chianti was tasty, stored properly, and was served in tasteful glassware.

overall impression - the food and wine were excellent with a couple of petty/minor exceptions on my behalf. the atmosphere fits exactly what salvatori's is: a quaint little italian joint in a gas station. this is not fine dining, nor do they pretend to fit that category. the service can get spotty at times - they're very busy, and there was only one very nice lady out front to take care of the whole place.

go for the food. heck, call ahead and take it home if they're packed! don't go with expectations of tablecloths and chandeliers.

wonderful!. the first time we heard of salvatori's was from a friend. they suggested we try it, and when asking for directions, was told it was by a truck stop. couldn't imagine an italian restaurant worth anything being alongside a truck stop, but went anyway. first visit was to taco bell, since salvatori's was packed. next visit was earlier, and we've been a regular since. the food, service, staff, are all tremendous! tell a friend.
