better than casa. i've been there twice and i have not walked away disappointed with the food or pice. my wife claims their fettuccine alfredo is some of the best she has had. i've had the sausage and peppers once and the chicken marsala special another time and it wasgreatfor the price.

the only problem is that the atmosphere. it is could be featured on diner, drive-ins and dives so being in a gas station is not the problem. the last time we went we had some one light up a cigarette by us, forcing us to leave (due to smoke allegories). the place is too small to have separate sections and the city of new haven allows it. the owner gave us a piece of berry tiramisu (good though not a traditional tiramisu) because of it and had said that he had considered putting a sign up. they don't have ash trays out so they don't encourage it but it is something to prepare for. it was unfortunate but they wrapped up our food and we took it to go without a hassle. the waitress was very nice about the whole thing. they went above and beyond in spite of the inconsiderate smokers there.

special post christmas delight. on our holiday travels found this very small, outstanding restaurant in a pilot station! who'd of thunk it. this delightful surprise lunch dining experience definitely puts salvatori's on the map of our on the road dining stops! had the lunch-time special of lasanga with house salad. portions were perfect and agreatvalue. house salad just the right size with fresh mix of vegetables, side dressing, served with crusty garlic bread, finally roadside diner that knows to give bread with the salad! we also ordered 2 of their award winning cinnamon rolls to take to our hosts, they were happily devoured quickly. thanks for showing that real food, with real seasonings, and fresh made breads will lead us all to your door.

hidden gem. visited on recent weeknight - called ahead for reservation (this place is very popular).

shrimp scampi starter - tasty, but would have appreciated the sauce to be a touch lighter (not so heavy), and could have used a spoon to properly eat the pasta.

lasagne - amazingly large (if you choose the full) portion. easily shared between two folks, or take some home for another meal. well made and delicious.

pizza - salvatori supreme was very tasty. thin crust would've been nicer with a bit more crunch (and would've held up better under the smorgasbord of toppings), but the flavor was very nice. the angelica's toppings were incredibly fresh and delicious. the chef tookgreatcare with this pie, and it showed.

wine - interestingly, all glasses of wine are $6, while a bottle of wine (that's right... any of them on the menu) is $20. their chianti was tasty, stored properly, and was served in tasteful glassware.

overall impression - the food and wine were excellent with a couple of petty/minor exceptions on my behalf. the atmosphere fits exactly what salvatori's is: a quaint little italian joint in a gas station. this is not fine dining, nor do they pretend to fit that category. the service can get spotty at times - they're very busy, and there was only one very nice lady out front to take care of the whole place.

go for the food. heck, call ahead and take it home if they're packed! don't go with expectations of tablecloths and chandeliers.

love it!. we have been going to salvatori's for about a year now and each time we leave saying it is the best italian food we've ever had! each time i go, i try something new or at least try to because so many of the items are becoming my favs! the breadsticks are a must...best in the area! the salvatori's salad is terrific. the portions are very generous and makes dinner not only wonderful but agreatvalue too. our little secret has gotten out because we never go without reservations now. don and the waitstaff are awesome even though they are hoppin' on the weekends we are there. even if there is would be a tiny glitch in service (which we've never experienced), the food would more than make up for it. oh, and everything they say about the cinnamon roll - it's true and then some! a must try!

excellent!. have either ate in or had their food catered over dozen times this past year,,, and every customer that has tried their food, be it just the sandwiches or whatever, has likewise commented positively about 'em. impressive, and well worth the drive from anywhere in the ftw area to partake in their offerings.

first time, will not be last!. went here for lunch today, we ordered two 7" pizzas and a salad. hers was veneto white [alfredo sauce with shaved chicken breast, 'shrooms, red onions, basil, and cheese], mine a abruzzo all meat [italian sausage, pepperoni, ham, bacon, salami, cappicola, ground beef, homemade pizza sauce, and cheese]... both were excellent. these are not your pizza hut or regular chain pizzas, but dripping with goodness of oil on the bottom of the thin crust, and with just the right amount of toppings, sauce, and cheese. as much as i despise mushrooms and onions, even hers looked very tasty. service was very prompt and friendly by the waitress, with even the cook [sam] smiling and engaging in conversation. place is clean - yet would begreatif had more of an atmosphere, with a different location; next to a fuel station doesn't really bring much to romantic or scenery ;) would be cool to have such a place with a little garden and stream, and tables outside to enjoy the food, glass of wine or beer, and such. yet, do not let that interfere, as the food and attention are top-notch,,, and worth more returns. i'm just upset with myself that has taken this long to travel here to try this place.

the pictures on the wall reminds me of my family reunions..... this little italian restaurant was connected to a gas station and a taco bell. in most cases i wouldn't consider eating in a non-fast food restaurant connected to a gas station. fortunately, it made up for its poor location withgreatfood. the house dressing had lots of flavor, the bosco sticks reminded me of being back in high school and the italian beef sandwich was splendid. if this little italian place was in a better location it would conjure up much more interest from customers. don't get me wrong though, it is worth a stop.

this place is fantastic!. my boyfriend introduced me to this place. he used to pick up carry-out for me when i'd come to his house. i have dined here on many occasions and have never been disappointed. the pizza is top-notch, the lasagna is always hot with a tangy tomato sauce, and the fettucini alfredo is thick, creamy and tasty. i love the garlic ciabbata (sp?) bread too. i took my sister there for lunch a couple of weeks ago, and although the location gave her pause, she said she couldn't wait to introduce her husband to salvatori's. the place is always clean and tidy, and the staff is pleasant and attentive.greatfood, greatprice!
