the food was ok, but what altered my opinion on this restaurant is they changed the tip amount that i had written on the receipt, must've been when we left the restaurant. was stunned to see this happen. anyone know what the tip percentage is now? i would've been fine with them telling me what the tip is but to go and change the amount on the receipt, just bothers me.

large group. we had a group of 21.
appetizers were not all that hot. ribs were over cooked and wings were not anything special.
i had a steak and it was good.
service screwed up one order but we worked it out at the table. she offered to correct the problem but we managed. service was very friendly and i like the layout of the place
i would go back but it's overpriced. for what i saw. reminded me of an upscale sports bar.

poor service for larger group. food slow to table and wait staff very rude at our recent experience. very different experience than calgary saltlik.

a good choice for a nice night out. took my staff to the saltlik for some r&r and we were well taken care of. we got this great private dinning table spot which likely made the evening go from pretty good to really good. we did appetizers: squid, beef carpaccio, and something else, entrees: ribs, the lamb, the rib eye, the filet, and something else, can't remember. we added the scalloped potatoes, the asparagus and the broccoli. we did wine and dessert was mostly the crumble with ice cream and port.

food was great, server did a good job (props to the lovely irish young lady).

i think the best things were:
- beef carpaccio
- the rib eye
- the lamb
- the broccoli (amazing actually)

pretty good were the:
- scalloped potatoes (bit to much cheese)
- the ribs (bit more meat would be nice, but very tasty and the right amount of sauce - this is what i had, and it was good)
- the slices of fruit in the pecan crumble could have been a bit more tender, but don't get me wrong it was huge and i definitely licked out the dish - not literally, i'm trying to say it was still tasty)

would recommend calling ahead making a reservation and getting the side room with the dining table (sat 7 of us really well).

we dropped about $450.00 fyi

i'd go back for sure.

everyone tells you how expensive it is to have a baby. and they're right - it can be expensive... cots, bottles, toys... clothes they seem to grow out of mid-nappy change... but i thought i had everything under control until poppy developed a love of lobster. yes that's right - the world’s most expensive shellfish. sigh . why couldn't she be a chicken nugget baby? for christmas we ticked a major goal off our bucket list and had " christmas at the castle ". it was an unplanned ( although heavily lusted after ) experience and our spontaneity robbed us of any chance at a traditional christmas dinner - but lucky for us saltlik in banff decided at the last minute to open for christmas dinner. and so began the lobster disaster. for a starter we ordered "almost famous dry ribs" - short cut ribs in a tamarind honey sauce, and watched gobsmacked as the poptart put those new pearly whites to good use, gnawing tender meat off little bones. even the punch of the sauce didn’t slow her down. that pr

it was just a fabulous dinner. the baja shrimp appetizer was flavorful without being overly spicy hot--perfect balance. i even liked the avocado salsa and i'm not a big avocado fan. the double-cut pork chop was delicious. so much good food, completely stuffed.

i loved our server, melissa. she was very friendly an attentive. she made several trips to the kitchen to check on item for our gluten-free needs. are dinner was later in the evening and she was able to stand and chat with us a little bit. thank you, melissa.

if you are ever in banff, be certain to eat at saltlik.

worst meal experience in a long time. the services staff messed up multiple times. the food was taste less and under cooked. after asking specially about a food allergy the staff proceeded to inform us after the meal that they had made a mistake and the meal was not gluten free. worst part was they charged us full price for everything even though half our meals were sent back. avoid!! avoid!! avoid!!

when i'm feeling sad, i eat steak. when i'm feeling happy, i eat steak. when i'm angry, i eat steak. do you see where i am going with this? steak is the cure for all that ails you.  whose with me on this one? huh, anyone?   on this occasion, i got my lake louise girls together and we headed out to saltlik for some steak. besides the keg, there are two other steakhouses in banff. saltlik, & bison - which is just near by. to be honest, both establishments are excellent and are on par with each other. the reason i choose saltlik over bison is because of the caesar aka bloody mary for you 'mericans.  the saltlik caesar is rimmed with their own steak spice blend, freshly grated horseradish, and garnished with a pickled bean and/or asparagus, a honkin' piece of jerky and the usual olives and lime.. or at least it use to be! everytime i come back to saltlik, the caesar gets less and less extravagant. on this occasion i jokingly mentioned to our server that i got ripped off with 'toppings' ( s

we heard slot about how wonderful the royal burger is......all seven servings we burnt, couldn't taste anything but charcoal. very dissappointing for an expensive specialty burger. definitely dropped the ball here! time to retrain the cook!!!

unbelievable some big city steakhouse's should look long and hard at how this place is operated.

ordered a gorgeous ribeye which was perfection. scalloped potatoes which were so good wife didn't even attempt to share. kids loved the doublefisted cheeseburger..

what else can i say it is a little pricey but what isn't in banff. there are so many other restaurants in town that charge an arm and leg and you get truck stop quality....highly recommend this place if only there was one in my hometown

during our time in banff, my friend and i chose to have one fine dining experience and chose saltlik. we ate in the dining room, which was almost full. our hostess was friendly. our server was not. we each ordered a drink, and had to ask for water - which was never refilled. our order was taken in a fairly timely fashion, considering how busy the place was. but after our food was delivered, that was the end of even the mediocre service.
we were at a table that had an excellent vantage point of the restaurant, so were able to observe other tables with different servers getting attentive service. our orders were basic, no frills asked for nor delivered. after our meals were delivered, we only saw our server again at the end of the meal when we asked said server to package my meal and the two side dishes separately. my friend also asked for a dessert menu, which was brought after a 15 minute delay. when he finally returned, he brought everything tossed into one container. it then took another 15 minutes for him to return with the bill. he brought the portable card machine, punched the first set of numbers in, and left the machine at the table and walked away, never to return. t. finished her transaction, took her own debit receipt. i paid in cash, since there seemed to be no other option. our tip reflected the service given.
we watched - our server was not busy with his other tables, either. he disappeared into the back and rarely showed his face to take care of his tables. this service took what could have been a lovely evening and made it into something far less.
while the ambiance and music were excellent, the food wasn't worth it, given the service.
banff had far too many dining choices to make this one again.
