no. just no. the steak was cookedgoodbut they ruined it with the gross sauce and it was swimming in it. the servers were rude and un attentive. definitely not going back ever. the truffle mac and cheese is also a let down.

a friend organized a dinner for 8 at saltlik while we were on holidays in banff. nice atmosphere and the menu looked great. i ordered a steak and asked the waiter if the descriptions on how they cook a rare steak was accurate. he confirmed so i ordered a rare steak (menu says: rare: deep red throughout).

when my steak arrived it didn't look quite right, and once i cut into it to i discovered it was well done (zero color and tough). i asked the server if he made a mistake and gave me someone else's steak and he said no, but took the steak back to show the chef.

the waiter came back and said the chef is cooking a rare steak for me. the steak shows up and the waiter disappeared before i could even cut into it to verify. i cut into it and it was pink which is not quite medium-rare by their description (med-rare: pink edge, deep red cent).

everyone else had already finished their meals by this time so i decided to give up on trying to get a rare steak and finish my meal. not even two minutes later, the waiter shows up in a panic with a third steak, telling me that he gave me the wrong steak. before letting him take away the 2nd steak i asked him to wait and i cut into it and surprise, surprise i finally received a rare steak.

it's a steak house and it took them three tries to get a steak cooked right! if you want agoodsteak cooked right the first time, go somewhere else. i would never go back.

classy, modern steakhouse in the middle of banff's main shopping and dining district. gooddrink menu combined with solid meats and other dishes. great service.

exceptional service and delicious food. the upper outdoor patio was magnificent under the radiating heat modules that made me feel cozy warm as if wrapped in my favorite blanket! and the food was presented spectacularly with portions generous andgoodvalue for money in tourist heavy, price heavy banff! my new favorite restaurant in banff!

steak and serve are allgoodspecially the rare steak is not even a little over cooked. but in the lobster mashed potato have a piece of plastic waiter apologized and explained said the lobster is definitely fresh not the plastic:). it's notgoodfor appetite, hope restaurant can also focus on food safety.

girlfriend and i tried it out. meat wasgoodwith the sauce, didn't eat the tree twig they serve with it. :)  no side orders, just fries. waitress was good., service fast, but wasn't busy.  we'll go back and order something different next time.

was definitely very impressed with everything at this steakhouse. we were seated right away and i found the lightning and decor simple but it suited the restaurant. our waitress was friendly and we received our drinks pretty quickly. the duck tacos were a great appie and the steak was cooked to perfection as a steak should be. i found the lobster mashed potatoes delicious and they were a perfect compliment to my steak as recommended by our waitress. overallgoodfirst meal and experience

pretty expensive steakhouse, but that's what you'd expect in banff town.goodnews is that the steaks are really really good. perfectly cooked to your specifications. side dishes are separate and for sharing, as is typical for high end steak places. star of the night was the mac n cheese, absolutely amazing. carrot cake dessert wasgoodfor sharing too. no better way to feed a bunch of hungry hikers, despite the high prices.

we loved our meal here! at first, we thought our waiter was a verygoodsalesman, saying that everything on the menu was amazing. however, he honestly is right, based on what we ordered. everything we had, really was fantastic.

calamari... excellent!
dry ribs... tasty but not dry. they had sauce on them.

ahi tuna salad... amazing! perfectly seasoned and tuna perfectly cooked.
hanger steak cobb salad... very good!
royale burger... verygood("friggin' a+")
spaghetti and meatballs... verygoodhomemade meatballs.

overall, we saltlicked our plates cleaned and would definitely come again. this restaurant is a hot take!

the worst server in banff. music was so loud our table could not converse. as soon as we mentioned it to our waiter chrysler he bacame surly and not pleasant. we complained twice about the misic to no avail. even though the food was verygoodwe cannot recommend this establishment as our dining experience left much to be desired. instead of having desserts and liquers we beat a hasty retreat. not recommended if you want a relaxing evening.

notgoodlike before. charged double for tip. we ordered the burger wars' show winner, royale with cheese and were all disappointed. they are not asgoodas they were. maybe that lady chef is not there anymore? who knows? and to top it off, we were charged a double tip on our bill which ran to $49 x 2 = $98!!! i call the manager to help reverse the charge and he says to just contact mastercard. well i'm still waiting on that but will have to mention that we will never eat there again. the 2 bottles of wine we ordered were not bad though.

i try to hit this place everytime i pass through. the burger is off the wall and the sweet fries are a nice compliment. pair that with a beer and the friendly staff.. your havin a prettygoodday

food was not great and service was not that expected of a nice steakhouse. we were given some water when we arrived and my husband took a sip and it tasted like vinegar. the waitress informed us that glasses are washed in vinegar, np because it means cleanliness is important. she replaced our water and all was ok. my husband and i ordered a hangar steak cobb salad, beef carpaccio appetizer, duck taco appetizer, and a bottle of white wine. our white wine was put in a bucket of ice at a spot around the table that neither of us could reach so we would be reliant on the waitress to pour. with it supposedly being a nice steakhouse, my first thought was ok, they are going to come around to check on us enough to ensure that our wine glasses are full. that didn't happen so i got up and carried the wine and bucket to a spot where we could reach and pour ourselves.
as for the food, the iceberg lettuce in the cobb salad was so large and just seemed there was not verygoodprepping that went into that, just thrown on a plate. there was no steak knives provided so we ate our steak with a butter knife. for the beef carpaccio, i love the flavour of capers. however, the capers were deep fried it seems and all you could taste is oil and the flavour of capers was not tasteable at all. the duck tacos was the only saving grace.

new look, new menu. we have visited here many times as a couple in the lounge. we hadn't been to banff in a year, so we weren't sure what to expect this time around. turns out that they just opened this weekend from their revamp on seating, decor and menu. we were seated promptly and within a couple minutes and we were told 'sorry there will be a wait for our server because they are busy'. we waited maybe 1.5 minutes for her to come. we were greeted by a very friendly waitress named katie who was excited to serve us. she explained some of the changes and recommended the chorizo stuffed dates. we passed on that, but apparently it's amazing. i ended up with the royale with cheese and hubby had the philly cheese steak. it seems a thing of pride that they won 'burger wars' with the royale since it was mentioned three times by three different staff we spoke to. it was delicious and juicy. i haven't had a burger thatgoodin a long time. the philly cheese wasgoodas well. we both chose caesar as our side and mine was for some reason lacking the true caesar flavour - tasted like mayo and lemon. wasn't my choice of goodness and if mentioned it to whom appeared to be a manager as she cleared our plates. she took it seriously and offered a different side but i declined. i was then told by our server that any dessert was on the house. had the lava cake which was amazing. james, who may be an owner came to ask us how things went and welcomed us back any time we are in town. we will surely come back next time we are in town. the only minor down is the loud atmosphere, but it may be exclusive to the lounge. we chose it based on wait times and no-kid zone. it was hard to hear each other only a foot away but that's because it was packed and the music was cranked on a saturday night. i can see them raising their ranks in the world of banff eats in a hurry!

fantastic!. i had my first experience at the saltlik last week and it was phenomenal - from the food to the service everything was perfect.

for our appetizers we ordered the beef carpaccio and the the ribs. the beef carpaccio was reallygoodand the ribs were to die for! i will be thinking about those ribs for quite awhile.

for our mains i ordered the peppercorn new york striploin with green peppercorn sauce and my boyfriend ordered the salmon. my steak was cooked to perfection and my boyfriend said the salmon was the best he had in a long time. as the menu is a la carte, our sides were the scalloped potatoes, the brussel sprouts and the asparagus. the scalloped potatoes were the best i've ever had in my life and the vegetables were cooked perfectly. i loved the touch of parmesan on the asparagus and it is now something i will begin doing at home.

our servers were friendly, informative and gave great recommendations. my wine glass never went empty which is a sign of exceptional attention.

i hope to have the chance to come back here again soon and highly recommend this place if you are in banff!!
