the traditional way of eating korean dinners is family style where there's bit of everything for you to try. if you don't like that, don't bother.

i love korean bbq but this place is terrible. first off, no koreans go to this place since it's not really authentic (we don't ever grill pineapple; though its okay) and no one korean owns there or cooks there (lasttimei asked, one of the wait staff was korean and that was it) and the only redeeming menu item is the korean braised short rib called galbi.

if you want real korean food, try somewhere else.

what a great way to spend a sunday. my friend and i visited u shao on sunday afternoon for lunch. we didn't want to make the trek to toronto and was excited when i discovered u shao online. your first impression when you walk into the restaurant is "wow". it is very clean and well designed. modern concept with private booths. service was prompt and food was great.

i would highly recommend the restaurant. we both ate the lunch buffet with soft drinks and the bill was $40.

i am definitely going back, but thistimewith a larger group.

poor service great food. i had a goodtimemy friend who is korean was talking and laughing with the staff constantly yet they still made me feel part of the fun. the service is a bit slow but the food was so good i did not mind waiting for a bit. a reluctant "likes it" wish t there was a "good...but" option to review i would go in big groups for a good exoerience.

make sure you cook that chicken.. i just had lunch with two friends at u shao bbq and we loved it. the food, atmosphere, server, the fact that you cook your own food.. everything was great. at first this place looks like your typical fancy all you can eat asian restaurant... except u shao bbq is so much more. as you eat your partially uncooked chicken breast you begin to notice the ambient music trickle into your ears.. like, "oh, was that just a jazz lady gaga cover i heard? and now fat joe, ja rule and ashanti.. oh god i forgot about ashanti, what a treat!" as you take the chewy pink chicken out of your mouth and realize the mistake you've made by taking it off the grill too soon, you tend to forget about the dangers of salmonella poisoning and think ya ja, what does luv have to do with it? i will be personally recommending this place to all of my friends, it's a funtimefor all.

if you’ve never had kbbq before and live in hamilton i’d say it’s worth the while. go in a group of 4 – 8 to get the best social experience out of it. also be sure that you’ve got friends that have run this gauntlet before as rookies will be lost with all the choices along with what foods cook quickly/slowly. food poison is not your friend. for myself, i don’t know if i’d go out of my way to hit this up a second time. considering 1/2 of my staple food was a write off, i’d much rather take thetimein travel and blow the extra money at to hit the gta for a better kbbq experience.

firsttimeexperiencing korean style eatery. got to say i was pleasantly surprised on the experience. you cook your own raw foods at your table. chicken had a little too much fat on it. the sausages and veggies were really good. my friends enjoyed the sea food options available. i would go back sometime soon.

high quality korean bbq, ayce, well-appointed. u shao bbq is a large upscale korean resto with traditional grilles in the tables so that you cook your own food. for a moderate ($21.95 dinner) price, we had all you can eat orders of beef, short ribs, chicken, lamb, sausage, mussels, fish, shrimp, squid, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, zucchini, pineapple (and i'm sure that i missed some choices). we each started with miso soup, had the banchan (kimchee), and had a bowl of rice. dessert choices included varieties of ice cream (mango, green tea) and osmanthus cake (actually jelly).

our party of 5 happened on u shao on a visit to hamilton (i.e. farmers' market, art gallery). searching urbanspoon turned up this restaurant with only 5 reviews, but 100% satisfaction. that's an interesting endorsement.

the restaurant is large, with many booths. our group of 5 was too large for a booth, so we were seated against the wall at a table with two grilles. the waiters/waitress acted in a flawless and friendly team service, so that we were just a minute or two away from having our requests fulfilled.

my sons (young adults) were impressed at the quality of food available for grilling. the green lipped mussels were large. the meats had flavourful marinades. at other ayce korean restos, the banchan would have been available, but not necessarily the onions, zucchini and green peppers for grilling. we were impressed that the grill tops were some of the best non-stick surfaces that we've seen -- ceramic, not teflon? -- reflecting the high quality service that this restaurant offers.

my sons also commented that they think they've been eating at too many cheap korean restos in toronto. with my broader range of travel, this dinner was top value for the price amongst korean restos i've eaten in, anywhere.

since we live in toronto, it would be hard for me to justify making u shao bbq a regular destination at a 45-minute from home (when traffic is light). however, anytimethat we're passing by on the qew, this restaurant will surely be at top of mind of our family.
