the traditional way of eatingkoreandinners is family style where there's bit of everything for you to try. if you don't like that, don't bother.

i lovekoreanbbq but this place is terrible. first off, no koreans go to this place since it's not really authentic (we don't ever grill pineapple; though its okay) and no onekoreanowns there or cooks there (last time i asked, one of the wait staff waskoreanand that was it) and the only redeeming menu item is thekoreanbraised short rib called galbi.

if you want realkoreanfood, try somewhere else.

poor service great food. i had a good time my friend who iskoreanwas talking and laughing with the staff constantly yet they still made me feel part of the fun. the service is a bit slow but the food was so good i did not mind waiting for a bit. a reluctant "likes it" wish t there was a "good...but" option to review i would go in big groups for a good exoerience.

poor service but great food. u shao came recommended in a hamilton tourism guide and we happend to drive past it so decided to stop in and grab some lunch. this was my firstkoreanbbq experience and found that it was difficult to keep straight which utensils to use when. for example, i had to remember to use the metal tongs only on the raw meats and use the chopsticks to grab the cooked meat to avoid contamination which at times was difficult. some of the raw ingredients you choose for the bbq come pre-seasoned such as the beef strips, beef shortrib, sausage, fish filet (basa), and the chicken. items like calamari, and the vegetables do not come pre-seasoned. i was not a particular fan of either the sliced sausage due to the sweetness of the seasoning. the fish and the calamari were not particularly standout thus were passable. the chicken was quite delicious but took a while to cook thoroughly due to the thickness of the meat. the beef shortrib was quite flavorful but we had accidently overcooked ours and became jerky-esque. beef strips were excellent and cooked quite quickly due to their thin size. the rich flavors of the beef paired well with rice and was definitely the highlight of our meal.

service was very poor and slow. it took nearly 15 minutes between refills on my drink and a few times when we flagged our server down he said 'one moment' then took another 15 minutes to show up at our table.

despite the abysmal service, the food itself weas delicious and the overall experience was quite enjoyable. i would recommend this restaurant to others.

chinese scam. this restaurant is operated by chinese but they advertise their place at akoreanbbq. the food is too salty, even if there are different kind of meats, they are all marinated in the same sauce and taste the same. the rice has no taste neither. don't waste your money there

first time experiencingkoreanstyle eatery. got to say i was pleasantly surprised on the experience. you cook your own raw foods at your table. chicken had a little too much fat on it. the sausages and veggies were really good. my friends enjoyed the sea food options available. i would go back sometime soon.

high qualitykoreanbbq, ayce, well-appointed. u shao bbq is a large upscalekoreanresto with traditional grilles in the tables so that you cook your own food. for a moderate ($21.95 dinner) price, we had all you can eat orders of beef, short ribs, chicken, lamb, sausage, mussels, fish, shrimp, squid, onions, mushrooms, green peppers, zucchini, pineapple (and i'm sure that i missed some choices). we each started with miso soup, had the banchan (kimchee), and had a bowl of rice. dessert choices included varieties of ice cream (mango, green tea) and osmanthus cake (actually jelly).

our party of 5 happened on u shao on a visit to hamilton (i.e. farmers' market, art gallery). searching urbanspoon turned up this restaurant with only 5 reviews, but 100% satisfaction. that's an interesting endorsement.

the restaurant is large, with many booths. our group of 5 was too large for a booth, so we were seated against the wall at a table with two grilles. the waiters/waitress acted in a flawless and friendly team service, so that we were just a minute or two away from having our requests fulfilled.

my sons (young adults) were impressed at the quality of food available for grilling. the green lipped mussels were large. the meats had flavourful marinades. at other aycekoreanrestos, the banchan would have been available, but not necessarily the onions, zucchini and green peppers for grilling. we were impressed that the grill tops were some of the best non-stick surfaces that we've seen -- ceramic, not teflon? -- reflecting the high quality service that this restaurant offers.

my sons also commented that they think they've been eating at too many cheapkoreanrestos in toronto. with my broader range of travel, this dinner was top value for the price amongstkoreanrestos i've eaten in, anywhere.

since we live in toronto, it would be hard for me to justify making u shao bbq a regular destination at a 45-minute from home (when traffic is light). however, any time that we're passing by on the qew, this restaurant will surely be at top of mind of our family.
