we had a very disappointing meal at rumours. we had a big party of 8 booked weeks in advance. they sat us next to an even bigger party of 20+ so nobody could hear anything. there were plenty of empty tables in the other room. we waited forever for our food and there was nothing to tide us over while we waited. no bread or anything. the food was mediocre - served lukewarm and very bland. i really wanted to like this place - but i won't be back.

very nice place, good food, great service, nice atmosphere. a very nice romantic friendly place to have a great meal. the back yard is wonderful with all the lights very nice. the bar area is great place to talk and have a drink.

brunch very underwhelming. i can usually ignore sub-par service if the food is outstanding, but when the food is bad and the service is bad, it makes for a bad experience. my family dined here for fathers day brunch and none of us were pleased. i had the fritatta of the day, tomato and summer squash. it was flavorless and the fried potatoes that accompanied it were bland as well. my wife had the shrimp and grits, which may have been worse than the fritatta. it also arrived over 10 minutes after the rest of our food. the sauce was very oily and the grits were grainy. bread is not served with meals, but rather sold as a side item for $5. we ordered 2 baskets of bread and they brought 6 pre-made dinner rolls to the table with 2 small pads of butter. we did however enjoy their bloody marys and mimosas. i will not be likely to return to rumors, and definitely not for brunch.

service on point. when to rumors is for my one year anniversary. the atmosphere was spot on it was a perfect night to sit on a patio and have an intimate meal. the only problem was the entrees did not merit price tag in my opinion. the appetizers on the other hand we're very good. we had the muscles and olive bread. although the muscles could have used a touch more salt for being a landlocked area they were very good and were a decent sized portion for the price. the ones very bright spot on our evening was our server tim it was very knowledgeable and incredibly professional humorous and not overbearing.

i threw a bachelorette party for my best friend in march 2014. rumors east was our first stop for happy hour and everyone was so sweet and accommodating. jamie, our waitress, made sure everyone got what they needed and was so helpful. the atmosphere is charming and i would definitely recommend the back yard area for a casual date. will be returning for sure!

great atmosphere, a bit pricey. atmosphere is unlike anywhere i have ever been. i love that it looks like a house in the neighborhood, but the backyard is like something you would see on pinterest. they have a great happy hour with apps and drink specials, but the dinner menu was a little slim and pretty pricey. haven't been for dinner, but the happy hour is definitely worth trying out.

excellent service & fantastic food! my wife & i had a variety of appetizers, the cheese plate & the butternut/apple/bourbon soup. we wanted a taste of the chef's menu. wow! everything was great. lots of great flavors. hrant is an excellent chef. i would highly recommend rumours and will be coming back again very soon.

lovely patio/yard; delicious lamb kebab; good wine prices. i wish it was open for lunch.

to say that i "liked" it is a bit misleading. i am not likely to return. i felt their wine list (red) did not have a broad range of flavor (mostly very light). the cheese plate was good, the house made ravioli was good but the pasta was a bit too al denté. the beet salad was the highlight with a broad range of flavors withe the frisée and the beers and citrus. definitely a star. my wife had the mussels as her entree and they too were good. i had the duck breast. in my view, it should not have been served. the outside was charred, the duck was medium (overdone to me) but overall it was edible, it just looked awful and was not prepared as well as a restaurant like this should. the pomegranite reduction was so acidic that i could only try me best to avoid it while eating the duck. now, the moroccan spiced carrot salad was a wonderful creation. so, nothing was disgusting, service was very good so why am i not open to returning? for the price, it just was not as good as the prices being charged. your charge these prices and the expectation is that your food is not just good or okay, it needs to be be very good.

surreal. after a pleasant experience here last year, we stopped in last saturday with two out of town guests hoping to grab a drink before dinner reservations down the block. waited at the (empty) hostess stand for five full minutes. four different members of the staff (three servers and the bartender) looked directly at us, made eye contact, and proceeded to ignore us. we weren't even greeted. no one seemed to be taking care of the two parties in the front room either--both were sitting there with menus but no drinks, and the waitstaff didn't interact with them while we were there. eventually we gave up and walked out. i realize restaurants get busy on the weekends and presumably the servers were in the weeds, but we felt like we were invisible, and there's no excuse for that. definitely won't be setting foot in there again.

excellent shrimp & grits. i loved the shrimp & grits appetizer served in the bar. and what a cool bar with the curved wood and tables for two all around.
but the patio is the draw during the late spring and fall.

unbelievable. our visit occurred on a busy afternoon during the tomato art festival. while we expected the increased volume to increase the number of visitors, we also expected that the restaurant would have planned ahead for this event. we arrived just before 1pm. there was noone manning the hostess stand. we were eventually seated at about 1:05pm. the place was not full, so we expected decent service. the waiter brought us water and took our order at 1:10pm. none of the items required cooking, as they were all salad or vegetable based. at 1:40 we asked where our food was and we were told that it was en route. at 1:45, we were re-assured that the food would be there in just a second. at 1:50, the waiter walked by to bring the check to the couple that were seated ahead of us. they had ordered, eaten and paid before we even got our food. we left soon afterward and will never return. this type of service is unacceptable at a fast food restaurant, let alone a restaurant that charges a premium for its food. since it never arrived, i can't comment on the quality. i can only imagine that it was prepared with the same lack of thought that the server showed us.

marginal food, awful service. my girlfriend and i had been to rumors for a glass of wine a couple of times, so we thought we would try the food. it took 20 minutes for the waiter to inform us that they were out of the appetizer we had ordered, and another 30 minutes for a replacement to arrive at our table. i ordered the sirloin and it was quite overdone when it arrived well over an hour after we had sat down. my girlfriend had the seafood pasta which resembled something you would expect from olive garden, not a small place in east nashville. they were obviously understaffed, and it showed. long story short, we may stop back for a glass of wine, but i dont think we will be dining there anytime soon.
