i love ruffage. ever since i moved to hono about a year ago ruffage has been my go-to hole in the wall cafe for lunch. i regular this joint at least 3-5 times a week. my favorite meal to get is the tofu avocado sandwich accompanied by their mighty green smoothie. if you are health conscious and need a break from the seemingly endless greasy food available on kuhio street then hop over to ruffage and give it a try. you definitely won't regret it. the tofu avocado sandwich with a mighty green smoothie will run you about $14.50 which is a great deal for the quality of the food. i love ruffage!!!!! :)

with poisonous customer service and skills, what goes into the food can't be healthy!. being vegan and staying at a nearby hotel, we were pleasantly surprised to have found a natural food store, however this is where the good news ends. each and every time we visited the store the staff had shown next to no interest in being there, questions answered with silence, so having to repeat asking. the management again and again giving blank looks when asked for vegan options. this attitude is just not how the operator of a natural food business should cater to the vegan clientele or anyone for that matter. lastly when we were asked to order within 5 minutes because of closing time, we decided to just up and leave then suddenly both operators chased us out of the store, literally yelling at us. such behavior from what appeared to be the owners might be had in a dodgy bar but it's evident that whoever is running this 'natural food' cafe has little to no customer skills and doesn't care for customers natural dietary requirements. we chose whole foods to meet our vegan needs during our month long stay, it's out of town but well worth it for being treated with respect and for real customer service.

little gem not be missed.. sick of high priced grease, salt and sugar on the strip, try this little place. lovely family business, not fancy or slick. despite the need for a make over the cheap hole in the wall vegan place serves up some amazing tasty dishes, and less than $10. the fresh tuna and avocado salad was so good. 8/10

good smoothies & sandwiches. smoothies are good & healthy and sandwiches are not bad. skip the poke. i ordered poke with avocado for $12 and it was mostly rice. probably 1/2 cup of tuna.

vegan heaven. we had a few different things there during our trip. my daughter had the lasagna which she liked, but when we returned she had what we had (for the second time) the 'totally vegan plate" which was vegan chilli, rice and avocado salad. each time we've been there we've had the large acai sorbet to share as well which is a super nice treat on a warm day.

it's small there with only three tables so be aware that there may be no seats during lunch. the service is nice though and helpful. the grocery store is small and limited so don't rely on it for stocking your pantry while there as a visiting vegan. there is a small grocery store across the street though which you can use to grab what ruffage is missing.

no at all what i expected. as a vegetarian traveling i always check out my options before i travel. ruffage/veggie star seemed to be a good option. and it was so close to my hotel. i would have eaten there every single day except for one major problem. the service was so so bad. the two girls working were not at all helpful, i simply tried to switch one natural milk for another i even offered to pay more. i just wanted what i wanted. no way no how was that an option even though they make them to order. ok so i decided to give it another try the next day. soggy burrito i could even eat half and it was like $9.00.
not overly clean either.
so sad i had high hopes but it was an epic fail. save your money and hit the international market and the local fruit market. $2.00 for the freshest most amazing pineapple cut up i could eat that every day and be one happy woman.

great little organic hole-in-the-wall. just back from a week in waikiki. we went to ruffage several times on our visit for their sandwiches, vegan chilli, and smoothies. the staff is friendly and laid back. the sandwiches are a simple, with fresh ingredients. i enjoyed their smoothies as an afternoon snack after a day at the beach.

they also have a small selection of organic products from soaps and deodorants to nuts and supplements.

great smoothies and chili. we are going back again today. the vegan special with the chili and avocado was the highlight for me. definitely a refreshing change from the local tourist food. my husband thought the banana strawberry smoothie was the best he ever had.
the service was pleasant and full of good vibes.

it's a little "hole on the wall" place i might have walked past if not for the high urban spoon rating. it was good and fast. very fresh.

gluten free = great. searched everywhere one day whilst on honeymoon for some gluten free bread, until i found this place just as they were closing in the evening. you can buy frozen loafs, i also got a pack of choc chip cookies. a bit pricey, but needed some supplies. i intended going back for lunch the next day but they closed for the whole of my stay in waikiki, disappointingly. nevertheless, i am sure they would have been great if they were open.

rather expensive for what very little you get, and to be honest it wasn't that great either. i can't see myself going back. i stopped by to try it just because i happened to be next door doing laundry (aston waikiki is awful) and i went in hungry, and left hungry after paying 12 dollars. brighter note, smoothie was pretty tasty, but not worth the 4.80 it costs
