what an absolute terrible experience. the sun was in our eyes beyond belief. they really need to do something with the beautiful garage door to mask the sun. i love sun- but they offer sunglasses because it's blinding- beyond belief! your whole entirediningexperience. the food was delicious but with the sun blaring down on us, we could not enjoy any of it. our wait staff was horrific as well. my 10 yr old son dropped a glass and it broke and she was so preoccupied with a customer in the bar that she didn't even come over. we had to clean it up and wipe everything down. she didn't come by ever except to ask if we wanted dessert. it was absolute terrible. i will not go back. so sad- it was so promising.

hands down, the best brunch in seattle, bar none! mimosas, beignets, great coffee! my wife's wild mushroom omelette arugula and breakfast potatoes were innovatively pleasing to her palate. my "tar pit," with niman ranch ham, country biscuits, and lemon hollandaise sauce with two poached eggs was amazing as well. rock creek has only been open for a year but has quickly made a name for itself in a remote location as one of the topdiningestablishments in seattle.

spectacular in its lack of spectacularity. afterdiningat rock creek and coming home to write this review, i really hadn't even noticed that there was no salmon or halibut on the menu at all. and that's where the greatness of this new bistro begins. the array of fish available is outstanding from carolina white prawns to alaskan octopus to hawaiian tombo. we had a sampling of oysters on the half shell. oysters don't disappoint but a lack of traditional condiments did. no i really don't want hot sauce with my oysters, just some cocktail sauce, lemon and horseradish. the mignonnette was tasty but boring after the 2nd oyster. we then moved on to 4 small plates (the menu changes with the availability of the seafood), hawaiian hamachi crudo, oil-poached albacore, wild mushroom tartine - all excellent. the 4th dish, the white prawns over heirloom grits was a bit disappointing. the shrimp were overcooked and the grits had an odd mealy texture and frankly didn't taste that great. finally for dessert, we tried the key lime pie and the rock creek s'mores with its ooey, gooey chocolate and caramel with an off and on crunch. both absolutely excellent. i'd definitely dine here often, especially now knowing that i can't fall back on salmon or halibut. i have to branch out into rock creek.

couldn't have been better!. i went to rock creek for the first time last night and i have been wanting to go as soon as i left! it was hands down the bestdiningexperience i've had in years.

atmosphere was perfect - casual feel of a neighborhood bar but also great for date night or a celebration. the restaurant was packed but didn't feel crammed. the music was just right to be able to talk over.

service was friendly and professional and seemed like they really enjoyed being there and extended that hospitality to the guests. everyone was really accommodating to special diets and food allergies - they asked me before i even has to say anything - which is my most dreaded part of eating out. (most of their menu is gluten free!!)

and the food... there aren't even words. every plate i tried (there were several) was great. my favorite was the icelandic char - best fish i've ever had - ever!! you could tell everything was fresh and high quality - they definitely care where their ingredients come from. the valhrona chocolate cake was definitely unneeded, but so good i will have to plan better to save room next time.

i can't wait to go back for brunch!

food:great--noise:greater. our first visit to rockcreek demonstrated what this restaurant could be: a relaxed ambiance with cool decor accents such as the wrought iron railing between the tables and bar area; an amazing menu filled with delicious food including the neah bay black cod provencale, the asparagus gribiche with lemon, caper, egg, shallot and, oil-cured olives, the prawns st. helena, and fun and tasty s'mores and beignets; excellent service provided by brian.
while all that sounds great, sound is the problem. until things started to thin out around 9pm it was necessary to almost yell in order to communicate across the table. what a shame to ruin what i'm sure would be a superlativediningexperience if the restaurant was half full or had better acoustic design.

not what i expected. after reading all the stellar reviews of rockcreek online, i was eager to check it out. when we arrived, the place was packed -- which was good for the restaurant, but not so great for the diners. the noise was ear-splitting. the acoustics in this place are awful. i couldn't hear my dinner mates across the table, i couldn't hear myself think. i hadn't even read the menu before we decided to leave in search of a quieter place. the food looked fantastic, so we were disappointed to go. but we really couldn't imagine enduring the cacophony for an entire hour.

another word of warning: there's no parking lot at the restaurant, and the parking situation in this neighborhood is horrific. after driving around several blocks and finding not a single spot, i finally opted for an illegal space.

i'd recommend rockcreek if you are in a very boisterous mood, have a pair of earplugs in your pocket and if you get there on your bicycle, on foot or via public transportation. don't go there in search of an intimate, cosydiningexperience.

impressive. thoroughly (and surprisingly) impressed by not only the breadth and depth of the menu -- from plenty of oyster options to an almost overwhelming array of fish offered in all sorts of preparations -- but more importantly the quality of the seafood underlying it all. can't miss items include the sake oyster shooter, the hamachi crudo, and the dungeness crab relleno, all of which are unique yet simple in their own way. the calamari "karry-out" is also worth a gander. and the dessert and cocktail menus reflect the restaurant's commitment to ensuring yourdiningexperience is solid throughout. highly recommended.

seafood heaven. i had dinner here last night and wow, amazingdiningexperience. great atmosphere, great staff and yum. it is a bit on the pricey side, but worth every penny. i had an amazing tuna crudo with a walla walla onion relish, the sardine salad, a super smooth syrah and ended the evening with a "to die for" deconstructed key lime pie in a small mason jar. totally enjoyed my 2 hour culinary adventure.
