rocco's tacos never fails to impress me. this was the first rocco's i've dined in since i moved to florida. i've been to the one in delray beach and west palm beach and the service andfoodhas been consistently good. it's always packed because well, it's just that good. on the weekend nights, you could be waiting up to an hour and a half for a table.

the food: a few of my favorites are the nachos and the chicken and beef hard tacos. of course the table side guacamole, chips, and fresh salsa. they make the guacamole right in front of you, what a great and unique concept. this marketing scheme will definitely keep bringing patrons back.

the drinks: their margaritas are always on point. it's not too tart and it's just perfect. my new favorite is the mango chili drink. it's so tangy and flavorful.

i will continually come back because i've always had a good experience here. they open late on saturdays too, 3 am!

came to this las olas location one night during my stay in the area. great, great spot. gets crowded even on weekday nights. big tourist attraction known for some of the best mexicanfoodaround. waited about 30 mins for a table. didn't mind- grabbed some awesome margaritas at the bar during happy hour. had a great waitress after we were seated. great service. we immediately ordered guacamole for the table, made table side. one of the better guacamoles i've had. their chips are delicious even by themselves. a salty, chipotle type seasoning on the chips made for a delicious starter. i ordered the surf & turf molcajetes, which is a collection of shrimp, skirt steak, chorizo, and chicken with sweet potatoes and vegetables in a fajita type sauce served in a red hot "lava rock" bowl. it's their version of a fajita platter. absolutely incredible. came with four fajitas and all the fix-ins. awesome, awesome dish. my girlfriend ordered a chicken taco and a carne asada taco. both were very, very good. ordered a few more margaritas at the table too since those were great too. overall great spot for very good mexicanfoodif you're in the area. highly recommend.

came to south beach for couple of days. asked around were the locales like to go and this place got recommended to us! went there for lunch , there was no wait, service was quick!! absolutely loved the food. drinks not so much, margaritas were just too strong and not that good and 12$ a piece. thefooditself i though it was very reasonably priced, but that is coming from somebody that ate in south beach all the time and their prices are just ridiculously outrageous !!

bland and loud!!. we made the mistake of trying rocco's on a friday night. anyone familiar with the las olas area knows not to do this. but we figured that if we got there ealy, (6:30pm), we could avoid the mob scene. wrong! 90 minute wait to be seated, followed by another 45 minute wait for our meal to actually be on the table.
as for the food, after that kind of wait you'd think we were so ravenous that we would have wolfed it all down. wrong again. while the chips and salsa were delicious, the dinner was anything but. i ordered that night's special: shrimp tacos with a miso sauce. i might as well have ordered plaster board. tasteless, and the shrimp were so overcooked they'll be appearing as fossils at the museum of natural history. seriously, what a terrible experience and disappointment. but what can you expect from a kitchen that is so overwhelmed. quality suffers.
the only thing worse than thefoodis the ambiance. forget about talking. the music is cranking, the bar is packed with drunkards, and the patrons are all screaming at one another to be heard. loud! let me repeat: loud!!!
i can't recommend this place for dinner, at least on a weekend.

go for the experience. fun atmosphere and beautiful people, good music and nice decor.foodwas good, not great. i had the yucatan combo of shredded chicken verde enchillada and two steak soft tacos. the tacos got wet in the enchilada sauce. the server was not attentive, bringing our chips and salsa (also just okay) at the same time as our meal and not refilling our drinks until he brought the check. friend had three steak tacos which he felt were "fair" and red sangria which he did not care for. a nice experience, but not for the service. be prepared to sit awhile. prices were fair, but you're paying to eat on las olas. this location has city parking around the corner on 14th street for $0.75 an hour on a sunday.

expensive and wayyyy overrated!. i was down in south florida visiting friends this past weekend. they were talking up rocco's and i have heard great things about it from other south florida friends, so i wanted to give it a try. we originally arrived at 11:00pm on saturday night to a 45-minute wait. we were starving, so we left. we went back on sunday night at 9:00pm and there was a short wait. the fact that people would wait to eat at this restaurant is ridiculous!

they charge you $3.00 for salsa. now, if the salsa was good i would not be complaining. but, it wasn't! it is pretty standard in mexican restaurants in this country to give you complimentary chips and salsa. so, the $3.00 charge was surprising. i ordered the yucatan (a chicken enchilada and two skirt steak soft tacos) for $16.00. i requested no lettuce, but the server obviously was not paying attention because they had lettuce on them. it did not even come with any rice and beans. i was completely underwhelmed with the dish and for the price i expected more. we also ordered the homemade guacamole prepared table-side for $12.00. cantina laredo does the same thing and it is only $9.00 there and better! the server did not even prepare the guacamole at the table. a gentleman who did not speak english prepared it on a dirty cart that was brought out from the kitchen and had dirty dishes on the middle shelf!

i imagine our server gets by on his good looks. i mean, he was not incredibly bad. but, he was not attentive either. we sat for a very long time without a chips and salsa refill and before he even took our order.

i am so confused as to why this place is so busy and popular. it is loud, expensive, thefoodis mediocre, and the service is eh. i am sure it is because the residents of south florida have no idea what a good restaurant is. they just want to think they look good at a trendy place. i fell for this trap once. but, not again. i will not be back. south florida, you should demand better!

food okay, better for drinks. visited this location on our way to the beach with a family of eight. it's great that they have a kids menus while offering a trendy "fun" atmosphere.
thefoodis okay for the price but this is more of a restaurant "to see and be seen" as the crowd, bar and atmosphere are more trendy. the price, $3.95 per carne asada taco, is crazy as you can visit a taqueria and pay half that for more flavor.
all in all, i would only visit again if i was to hit the bar for drink and appetizers.

rocco's, schmacos. i have been to the las olas location twice since it finally opened. i understand that it's new to the neighborhood and yes, they stay busy, but i'm being kind by calling the service sub-par. both times it took forever for us to even be acknowledged by a server after being seated. thefoodtook forever, and the guacamole came out pre-made. salsa was bland, chips uninspired. we gave it a second chance, thinking that since they were so new, the bugs were being worked out. same scenario all around. i recommend cantina laredo at gulfstream park for their tableside guacamole -- it's more authentic, they do a simply fabulous presentation, and it just tastes better! the courteous, attentive service at cl is also head-and-shoulders above rocco's, as is the value for your money.

in summary: poor value for the money, and super-sucky service. we won't be back, even though it's very conveniently located (just 5 blocks from my home). we'll drive the 30 minutes to cantina laredo in hallandale.

for advertising themselves as a taco joint you'd think they'd get that right. i tried pork, beef and chicken soft tacos. first, seems like they pulled all the meat out of a wet bucket. each taco left a lake on my plate, soaking all the other tacos. the pork and chicken tacos were so-so. the beef taco, no words can explain how unpleasing it was. there was so much cilantro on all my tacos that it was all you could taste. no bueno. i've been here twice now because you should always something twice. third time is not a charm for me. the onlyfoodworth buying is the overpriced guacamole which is freshly prepared in front if you, sometimes. when it's busy they make it across the room. the night i went it was so loud in there you had to yell at your dinner party. they had a dj playing music so loud it made someone in my dinner party sick. there was no dance floor and a small bar, what need was there for dj?!? i could say alot more but i think you get the point, thumbs down to roccos tacos. they should just turn it into a bar-club.
