disrespected. i felt disrespected when i asked for a booth instead of a table for four. i was told "we can't sit a party of one at a booth during lunch time, we just can't". however, a table for four is okay? if their ribs weren't so dry and burnt to the point of being crunchy the last time i ate there i may have stayed.

nope!. someone call the food inspectors because they are putting crap in a box. i decided to stop in to grab a sandwich to go and you can't do that. you must get the sandwich with a side. my assumption is so they can compensate for the small and flavorless sandwich portions. i got the 'boneless rib sandwich'. well they were right about the no bones but they were kind enough to throw in all the cartilage from the rack as well. i got to pick it out of my mouth every other bite (the wife loved that). if you like the mcrib then this is right up your alley. the sauce was horrible! and the can of soda was a very reasonable $1.47...?

loyal customer already. we've been here twice since our move to mission, and will return at least once a month. on top of a great craft beer selection on tap, they know how to do burnt ends and brisket with authority. our server is always wonderful, the decor is fun, everything is clean (!!), and we leave happy. a+

they have a great breakfast, but terrible service. if your willing to wait before a server ever takes your order you will definitely enjoy the smoked bacon.

didn't like their sauce and the burnt ends were very fatty. there are better places to visit.

the pork sliders were great, crunchy ends on the tender strands of tender pork combined with a tangy sauce (my favorite sauce of any of the stops) was a perfect combination. i will definitely be returning to r.j.'s with my wife soon!

worst we've ever had. made the mistake of trusting guy fieri and talking my wife into trying rj's
first, the ribs, st. louis style, dry and burnt to the point of being crunchy. absolutely the worst ribs i have ever had, anywhere, including backyard bbqs with relatives!
crab gumbo, ok but very bland.
signature jalapeno sausage $5.95, very small, unremarkable, bland.
i wanted the waitress to explain to my wife the difference between baby back, spare ribs and st. louis, (all were on the menu) she had no clue!
she wanted to know what side we wanted with the rib slab, i told her the menu said whole slabs were ala carte, she insisted i was wrong so we ordered the cajun rice pilaf. nearly inedible, not because of the hot spice, i like it hot, it just tasted bitter, powdery and terrible.
you can guess what comes next, we were carged extra for the rice!
yeah, i didn't request that was coming off our bill, i told her it was coming off.
my wife hates the food channel, i will be hearing about this for a long time.

very good bbq and service. we had the ribs, wings and brisket burnt ends. all were great. the fries are awesome. if you like spicy try their texas habanero bbq sauce...it's so good!!!

the sauce: this is where the experience of the executive chef shines. the sauce is incomparable to other sauces we have had. the unique fruity notes had all three of us looking at each other, playing guessing games to try to name that flavor. we asked someone who worked there and he said we are tasting raspberry, pineapple, and apricot. we had our minds set on plumb.

the basis for the sausage recipe is ground pork that is mixed with chopped jalapeños and garlic, along with many other spices. if that’s not enough for you, it is then put into corn husks (like a tamale) before it is smoked to perfection like any good barbeque meat should be!

worst bbq ever. and that's not bbq sauce. nice staff but the bbq is junk

some good points, some bad.... i think this may be the most stale bun i have ever attempted to consume. it's like a civil war era ration. i don't remember seeing "hard tack" on the menu anywhere, but apparently that's what the sandwiches come on.

the cole slaw is dry. they should call it "evaporated shredded cabbage and carrot salad".

the meat is pretty good, though. the pork burnt ends are nicely smoked. the sauce, however, is too much of a compromise between the kc-style molasses and the carolina-style vinegar. some may actually like the combination, but i'm not a big fan. taste in bbq sauce, especially in the kc area, is completely subjective and is likely the actual cause of the border tensions we've known since the 1860's.

i found the staff to be really friendly, knowledgeable and helpful.

we've tried it 3-4 times. the food is acceptable, but we always have horrible service. we keep trying it thinking one time it's going to amazing and blow or minds. hasn't happened and after the worst service in history today, we are officially never going back.

ugh!!. absolutely the worst bbq in kc
