wasn't impressed. the servers outside were not friendly until it was time to pay the check... also, my husband and i both ordered a strawberry mojito, and there was so much packed, crushed ice in each short rocks glass that it took one sip to finish. we brought it to the bartender's attention and he said it's the manager's new instructions for how to make the drinks. we asked to speak with the manager and he said there was nothing he could do. drinks were 9 bucks each. one sip? no... went back a few months later to try our luck... all we got was atablenear a bunch of servers talking crap about guests at thetablenext to us. class all the way.

brevard favorite. again and again this is a favored experience. having the choice of 'whitetablecloth' inside or the river side/casual is enjoyable. each with it's own menu, we've had multiple and positive experiences in each.
the fried shrimp outside are simply the best!!

great food!. "last month, visiting family in rockledge my wife and i decided to dine at river rocks. we liked the way their was two separate restaurants which was neat nice to have a choice of dining experiences! we decided to sit on the dock and our hostesses (skyler)was friendly and sat us quickly at a hightablewith a beautiful view of the river. the food was good, i had ordered the grouper reuben and my wife ordered the cobb salad. it was very relaxing and we enjoyed the music that was very entertaining and different. i hope to return again for another grouper reuben in the near future."

very good food ( a couple bumps), excellent service and nice view!. we went here after a long hiatus just because we live farther away. we had been here about a year ago for the 10am to 2pm sunday buffet and it was very good. today, we had sunday afternoon lunch. our server emily was excellent, 5 stars! emily kept our drinks full, was very friendly and efficient, and addressed all our requests quickly. we had the lobster dip, fried oysters fair (shells and sweet tomatoes pizzeria are better), and fried trawler. crab cakes were fresh and tasty, shrimp crunchy and fresh, grouper fish white and mild. oysters were a bit soggy. the clams were a bit soggy due to them being frozen and breaded. tartar and cocktail sauces are homemade, fresh and tasty. our coffee was hot (emily made a fresh pot for us) and the key lime pie was very good. my diet coke was great syrup and carbonation perfect, not all restaurants get this right. ourtablehad a beautiful view of the river. the restaurant is nice inside and upscale. recommended.

worst easter dinner ever. i booked a reservation at river rocks 3 weeks in advance for atableout on the deck. when we arrived, the place was swarmed with people. when they finally were able to speak to us they told me they could not guarantee we would get atableout on the deck and whoever told me that i would have atableon the deck made a mistake. of course i was disappointed. then we had to wait 20 minutes for them to put atabletogether inside. the buffet was the most horrible i've ever seen. first, the place was way overbooked so it literally took 15-20 minutes waiting in the buffet line to get any food. by the time i got to the food, many of the choices were out, plus the food was disguistingly spread all over thetableand floor. no one was there to clean anything up. the next time i got in the buffet line there were no spoons for the soup, and no clean plates. then a waitress walked by me in line and spilled a drink on my foot and didn't even apologize. the food was luke warm and just average. the bill, of course, was huge, and was incredibly embarrassed that i had ever suggested the place to my family. i did ask to speak to a manager, but he didn't even seem to care about the experience. i had to wait 15 minutes for him to come to the table, he offered to take nothing off of our bill, and didn't even stand there to listen to me for more than 2 minutes. he handed me his card and told me that next time i come in he will 'take care of us'. does he really think we ever want to come in again! i would never recommend this restaurant.

we made reservations at noon for easter sunday. we get there 5 mins early and the hostess explains that we have to wait for ourtableto finish eating. after 20 mins, we ask the manager why ourtableis not ready after making reservations 3 weeks ago. he said he had 26 years experience in the business and this is what happens and he apologized. well manager, your experience sucks because waiting 30 mins after our reservation time is unacceptable watching other people get seated. if it was not for the polite and attentive staff, we would have left. also- the buffet lines were very unorganized. get it together!!!!!! utilize the 26 years of experience better.

sub-par service and its a shame.... we've taken out-of-town guests to brunch at rr three times in the past four months and, while the food and view is impressive, the service is always bad. its almost comically bad.

its so frustrating because this place has it all when it comes to sunday brunch... a panoramic water view, delicious fare, fresh seafood and great desserts (the buffet food could be replenished more quickly, but overall thats not the problem.) having to ask for silverware, salt and pepper, coasters, place mats and to have plates cleared off thetabletarnishes an experience that would be otherwise exemplary! one time, half our drinks were served in glass while the other were served in plastic. there is no rhyme or reason. the restaurant just doesn't seem to flow properly.

i hope they can improve on this since, really, there aren't many places in melbourne with this much potential.

the last few visits to river rocks have been less enjoyable than the times preceding them. when my food arrived to thetableit was obvious it had been sitting for too long before it was brought to me. my wife and i have noticed the service losing it's once friendly nature. we probably will not be back.

stay away. i would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. it would be considered too much torture. everytime i have been, they promise to seat you in 15 to 20 and it has average 1 hr to 1hr 15 min. on my first visit, we were able to snag atablein the bar area after 45 min. had to settle bar tab and could not carry over tab, even while sitting in the bar area. next visit, gave in and ate at rail by water. waitress spilled 1/4 of my first beer on me, shirt and pants, while trying to set it on the rail. had to ask for towel, no new beer and no discount = zero tip. next visit, called ahead with 7 of us and was told it would be 15 -20 minutes. one hour and 15 min later, after being told just 10 more minutes 4 times, we were sat next to the musician with a roundtablepushed up to rectangle table, making for very awkward seating. i pleasantly address a red haired lady who appeared to have some level of authority with my displeasure and caught seriously rude attitude. i apparently was an annoyance as a customer. the last time, it was just my wife and i. told 20 min, sat out at rail to wait. i tried to order a stella like the previous 3 visits and told they could not stock it outside and could not get it from inside tonight. she recommend a beer that was supposed to be similar. my wife asked for grey goose martini. i got some nasty beer and my wife got a martini made with what tasted like rubbing alcohol, guessing absolute. after 20 min, no table, asked for menus and decided to eat at rail. planned our order and waitress returned to tell us that the "kitchen is busy and we can no longer serve food at the rail for the night". ok, we waited a bit longer and when the 4some next two us who arrive 20 minutes after us were sat, we walked. as we were leaving, i informed the waitress, trying to me nice. before we could make it half way to our car, the red head shows up again, telling us she was trying to located us for our table. i told her we were done waiting, well beyond what we had been told and explained the rest of the bad experience. she said you have not paid your tab and we informed her we did not drink our drinks because they were not what we ordered. she actually threatened to call police to for walking out. i said sure and we can compared the alcohol to what you say you are serving, she shut up immediately. hmm, wander how many of those bottles are mis-labeled. beware!

great find off the beaten path!. i travel a lot so instead of frequenting the restaurants right around the hotels i stay at, i always ask the locals where to go for great food! i received several recommendations. my husband and i chose river rocks due to it's location being on the water. though it was a little bit of a drive from cocoa beach, this gem off the beaten path was well worth it!! at first i was a little disappointed in not getting a window table; however, due to the expansive windows in the dining room just about everytablehas a water view! this made our booth a more intimate dining experience without sacrificing a water view. the staff was professional and very knowledgable about both the wine list and the menu. our server made recommendations for both and we were absolutely pleased! i had the sea scallops and my husband had the pork loin. both entree's were prepaired to perfection! we ended the evening with a coconut creme brulee which i can't say enough about!

i highly recommend this restaurant. i hear they have great entertainment on the weekends and only wish my stay in the area was longer!

inovative cuisine, this is surely a world class venue!. michael donoho, is the man behind the amazing food that makes this establishment one of my favorites; and one fine addition to brevard's dining scene!
his creations are a medley of infusions that come from his extensive knowledge of world cuisine, his menu is aimed to please the most well traveled, seasoned and demanding clientele.
with the ambiance to match, this venue offers expansive views of the indian river lagoon from everytableand the decor is well designed.
my first experience was on easter sunday, chef michael offered a brunch buffet intended to please a king.
it transported me back to the great palmer house in chicago, where i had a similar experience.
but then again being familiar to chef michael's cuisine, i know that he excels on special occasions and price fixed menus, i always look forward to his creations for valentine's and new years eve.
service is courteous, but can use some polishing so that can match the food.
the wine menu is designed to compliment this establishment well, they also offer a full liquor bar.

didn't like it. the food is over priced. the entire dinner menu was not offered to us. we had read the menu online and wanted either the crabcakes or ginger shrimp. both of which were not available. the specials told to us were different than the special told to thetablenext to us. the service was just ok. the portions were small, we left there and went to mimi's and ate an entire meal. the chicken was served with the skin on (yuck), so you couldn't taste the marinade. will not be going back. too bad, because the location is great.
