excellent steak house. took the family there for a special occasion, my steak-loving son's birthday. we found the atmosphere to be just right and the service level was close to impeccable.. great suggestions and pacing was excellent. we always had something on the table but never felt rushed.

i had the bone-in ny steak which was one of the better steaks i've ever had. great flavor and cooked exactly to my specifications. the onion rings were good but not the be all & end all some folks claim. plus there were too many of them.

all in all, i would recommendringsidefor special occasions when you're willing to drop some serious scratch. be prepared to spend at least $50/person plus alcohol.

i eat steak about once a month. but when i do i want an excellent steak. not interested in a chain steak house, sorry applebee's or just a good steak but i want excellent or outstanding. so sometimes you have to buy your memories and take out a small loan.ringsidefits the bill. this is a a la carte menu. dinner for two a-z including appetizer, dungeness crab cocktail was awesome, we split salad, 2 sides, 4 cocktails, split desert and tip. $350.00. yeah it's pricey.
we each had their bone-in prime filet 14 oz is off the charts! our steak is $77.00ea. if you never have had a bone-in prime steak, well you should. or at least split one with somebody. those of you that know prime will definitely know what i mean. it's buttery, tender and so flavorful is an understatement. the service atringsideis excellent. only negative is the restaurant is a little dark. but i would go once a month if i didn't have bills to pay. i put this on par with metropolitan grill in seattle. and that's good company. i also thinkringsidewas better overall than morton's or ruth chris by a 1/2 star.

the only other negative is getting there from the north. sat at 4:30pm. so exiting 405 to turn right onto burnside forgetaboutit. traffic is terrible horrible and horrendous. then after 20 min to turn right, only one lane on burnside was open due to road work! great restaurant wonderful food! took 20 min to go a mile!

terrible experience! a party of (11) had dinner on 11/28/16, (3) got severe food poisoning. all ordered surf & turf. contacted employee the next morning and made her aware of the situation. i explained that i wanted to bring it to the restaurants attention so no one else would have to suffer. she assured me that a manager would contact me. no one contacted me. both my wife and i have worked at nike for 26 years and we have booked several work and family functions at theringsideover the years. that will stop as of today and we will make sure all friends, family and co-workers are aware of our experience. obviously things have changed and quality and service are not important.

friday 4/3/2015 dinner. this was our first time at theringsideand won't be our last!
robert and the waitstaff were outstanding and very knowledgeable on the wine selection. food preparation from salads to entrees were perfect. also had to try the keylime pie and toffee for dessert. can't go wrong with anything on the menu here.
the only regret was not trying the onion rings.

valet service is well attended and fast!

snooty and inept service, food nothing great. waiter screwed up the order and chided us for using the wrong plates for the bread and onion rings!

my steak was the 18 ounce aged new york bone. ive had better. the steak was ok but no that flavorful and hard to cut, not tender . for 60 bucks im sure i could get a better steak in this town.

but the waiter was the worst part. he kept bragging about having worked there for 38 years. like we were supposed to kiss his ass for carrying food to our table. and then he gets the soup and salad order switched between our table and the next. maybe the old fruit should pack it in or not be such a jackass.

i hadn't been toringsideburnside since the re-opening. the inside was updated but kind of the same. same onion rings which are fine. but i dont like being treated like crap and then given food that isnt top notch. there are other restaurants in town if theringsideisnt special anymore.

fantastic. my wife and i went to theringsidefor dinner and had a great experience, i had surf and turf the wife had the aged ribeye with a side of mashed potatoes covered with a lobster sauce, we split a cesar salad. my filet was fantastic! i have to say that i can't remember a better filet ever, and my wife said the lobster/mashed potatoes was the best thing she ever put into her mouth. not too sure how to feel about that :-). dessert was average, i had the chocolate silk pie and she had the lemon cheesecake.
i recommend this to anyone looking for a great steak, good service and a good atmosphere.

disappointing..... went back toringsidelast night after a few years away and was pretty disappointed. the onion rings were the best thing we ordered. the lobster bisque tasted as though the roux had been slightly burnt and the rib-eye steak had a lot of gristle and was certainly over the requested medium-rare. we won't be returning....kind of disappointed by that as well as i had such high hopes that i would like it as i did before.

disappointing. friday night family gathering, revisitingringsideafter many years of absence. 30 minutes wait for drinks. the other tables in the new dining room were filled with drunks, so could not hear each other. steaks were only ok-given the cost. very long wine list, but kind of short on wines in the 50-80 range. we went there really wanting to be impressed with the new remodel and portland's own steakhouse, but unlikely to go back when there are so many other dining options in portland.

this past sunday evening i ordered $100.00 worth ofringsidefood to go. we ordered their prime rib & king salmon dinners. it was also an absolute must with an order of their famous onion rings. my husbands prime rib was terrible & my king salmon was tasteless & dry. my last cut of copper river salmon i purchased at my local fred meyer seafood counter was better tasting than this! and yes i am keeping in mind that our order was "to go"& has the potential to possibly lose flavor because of this, but i suggest that mayberingsidetake a few lessons from applebees, because their food far exceedsringsideat this point. o and thank goodness the waitress chased my husband out in the parking lot with our order of onion rings they had forgotten because they were the only part of our dinner i can give a thumbs up to! the remodel is nice but they now need to focus on getting some talent in the kitchen, nostalgia in this economy won't keep the doors open!!!cheers!

over-rated. i write a fair and objective review. my wife and i have been toringsideglendoveer and it did not disappoint. our first and last visit toringsidefox tower, andringsideper se, occurred last wednesday evening, nov. 24, 2010. it was to celebrate my eldest son's birthday.ringsidekitchen staff took away this fine moment.

three problems occurred: 1. a very cold draft coming to the dining area from street level. 2. near tasteless, dry steaks. without exaggerration, i have have always had better filet mignon from costco. 3. a wine menu that should be in the waldrof astoria hotel in ny. prices were ridiculously high, truly laughable.

we dealt with the cold draft and simply did without, not ordering a bottle of wine. however, getting three steaks, all poorly cooked to the point of being dry with truly little beef flavor and no juice was inexcusable. they always tout prime grade. these were usda choice and should have/could have been much better. if this had not been my son's birthday they all would have gone back for replacement! i did not want to cause an uproar. a steak cooked medium rare will be tender and have juice if 1. a good grade of beef and properly selected 2. it is properly cooked and 3. allowed to rest. i know steaks and how to cook them. i did not protest as i did not want to upset the evening but i was angry. $33.50 for a dry steak and potato, an all time high. they owe me $100.50.

as egregious an insult is not getting any response to two emails to ringside. i wrote each without rancor, merely outlining the events. no response. they don't care because they know they can lose me and my son as customers and it won't effect thier "bottom line" in the least..ringsideis trading on the past reputation and the fact that many people just don't have a clue about how a good quality steak should be cooked and taste. i am now going to send a paper letter to the manager and "head chef." i will return my $20 food cards given to us after the meal. i want nothing to do with them. thier failure to respond to my well reasoned notes is proof positive that they don't care.

i've been a regular at theringsidefor a few years now, which means i'm still the new kid in "ringside years". i like good steaks. good steaks as in juicy prime cuts, perfectly cooked with none of the crap other places pile on to cover up lower quality.ringsidefits th bill! don't miss the onion rings or the baby wedge, order a great bottle of wine from a reasonably priced list and settle in. not cheap, but the best steakhouse value in town.
