excellent steak house. took the family there for a special occasion, my steak-loving son's birthday. we found the atmosphere to be just right and the service level was close to impeccable.. great suggestions and pacing was excellent. we always had something on the table but never felt rushed.

i had the bone-in ny steak which was one of the better steaks i've ever had. great flavor and cooked exactly to my specifications. the onion rings were good but not the be all & end all some folks claim. plus there were too many of them.

all in all, i would recommend ringside for special occasions when you're willing to drop some serious scratch. be prepared to spend at least $50/person plus alcohol.

a classic. good hearty steaks. iffy service. very expensive for an old time steak house. all in all for a better steak and finer service go to el gaucho. but there is something charming about the retro ringside.

the happy hour at the bar is fantastic!. the food is great! big bang for the buck. the bartender is even greater. he is very knowledgeable about politics in a non-partisan way. i have had some great debates at the bar, late at night. very refreshing. deserves a try.

i eat steak about once a month. but when i do i want an excellent steak. not interested in a chain steak house, sorry applebee's or just a good steak but i want excellent or outstanding. so sometimes you have to buy your memories and take out a small loan. ringside fits the bill. this is a a la carte menu. dinner for two a-z including appetizer, dungeness crab cocktail was awesome, we split salad, 2 sides, 4 cocktails, split desert and tip. $350.00. yeah it's pricey.
we each had their bone-in prime filet 14 oz is off the charts! our steak is $77.00ea. if you never have had a bone-in prime steak, well you should. or at least split one with somebody. those of you that know prime will definitely know what i mean. it's buttery, tender and so flavorful is an understatement. the service at ringside is excellent. only negative is the restaurant is a little dark. but i would go once a month if i didn't have bills to pay. i put this on par with metropolitan grill in seattle. and that's good company. i also think ringside was better overall than morton's or ruth chris by a 1/2 star.

the only other negative is getting there from the north. sat at 4:30pm. so exiting 405 to turn right onto burnside forgetaboutit. traffic is terrible horrible and horrendous. then after 20 min to turn right, only one lane on burnside was open due to road work! great restaurant wonderful food! took 20 min to go a mile!

terrible experience! a party of (11) had dinner on 11/28/16, (3) got severe food poisoning. all ordered surf & turf. contacted employee the next morning and made her aware of the situation. i explained that i wanted to bring it to the restaurants attention so no one else would have to suffer. she assured me that a manager would contact me. no one contacted me. both my wife and i have worked at nike for 26 years and we have booked several work and family functions at the ringside over the years. that will stop as of today and we will make sure all friends, family and co-workers are aware of our experience. obviously things have changed and quality and service are not important.

we ate here last 1/24/2016. had to be the best onion rings i had ever ever tasted. they were sliced really thin and nice and hot and crispy. i heated the leftovers in the oven the next day. the steak was awesomely tender and my husband i share the porter house. i almost put my face in the lobster mashed potatoes because they were so good. the pear sorbet was a great "finisher" to the meal. the waitress was really attentive and made sure our every need was met. a really expensive meal but worth every single penny!!

excellent happy hour (make sure you get there early as every seat fills up almost immediately). cocktails are mixed well and the meats are prepared and flavored just as promised. if you miss the happy hour and are willing to pay for a true fine steakhouse experience, you can certainly enjoy the full menu, where i can highly recommend the oysters, ribeye, and prime rib. and if you somehow have room for more, the desserts are equally satisfactory.

this was my last dinner in pdx. this place is great, we started off with onion rings and they are a must try. they had a new appetizer on the menu pork belly and tried it. it was great, it came with compressed watermelon and pear. next was the caesar salad and that was good. time for the main course, i get the same thing every time, filet mignon. the filet was awesome, nice and tender and great flavor. got the baked potato with it, i think i ate all the bacon before the potato got to the table. my friend got the ny strip and swapped bites, filet won hands down. for desert i go the chocolate mouse, it had carmel corn and popcorn ice cream. the ambiance was nice and service was impeccable.

ringside rocks!. i am going to cut right to the heart of this review... steak! if you have ever wanted that perfect meal, that meal that could be your last wish, well you found it!

from the filet to the dry aged new york every steak they are all cut in-house and aged for at least 28 days. any restaurant that puts this much effort into a steak can't be wrong!
my recommendation is go for the bone-in rib eye steak! 20 oz of never ending goodness that makes me want to jump on a plane and get one tonight! bone-in for that added flavor perfectly cooked and marbled for a flavor you only dream about..... read my full review at thefastreview.com!!

friday 4/3/2015 dinner. this was our first time at the ringside and won't be our last!
robert and the waitstaff were outstanding and very knowledgeable on the wine selection. food preparation from salads to entrees were perfect. also had to try the keylime pie and toffee for dessert. can't go wrong with anything on the menu here.
the only regret was not trying the onion rings.

valet service is well attended and fast!

prime meal and service with nostalgia. this was what nice restaurants used to be like before all the nouvelle cuisine nonsense. back when a steak house was the prime cuisine.
having gone here for at least 35 years we still come back for classic favorites. we always start with a small order of fried onion rings, ample for two and probably the best served anywhere. something that you would never bother cooking at home, even if you could duplicate the results.
our main meal is usually the outstanding prime rib, it just doesn't get better than that.
tuxedoed professional servers put other restaurants to shame. you just wish some customers would have the manners to dress appropriately. to our neighbors in the next booth: don't show up in bermuda shorts.
from salad to dessert everything here is excellent.

welcome back. it has been several years since our last visit to the original burnside ringside. de ja vu and welcome back. they remodeled but we couldn't tell. the menu remains as it has been all the 35 years we have been going to this and the second location.
decadent fried onion rings are the best anywhere and you must order these, but a small portion is plenty for two. prime rib, small cut, is outstanding and ample. salads are classic and not politically correct fragile little foreign lettuces. iceberg or caesar salads like you parents used to order are standard.
waiters in tuxedos who are well trained, efficient and don't intrude add elegance to dining.

very good steak. more reasonable than some of the other steakhouses in town and just as good if not better. service was excellent. my steak was slightly undercooked which they asked to take back but i decided it wasn't worth it. good wine list too.

disappointed. i have been long time patron of this establishment but i regrettably agree with the other posts. the food and service was o.k.. but for the price i have high expectations and this restaurant no longer meets what i think you should receive for $50-$100 per plate with drinks and gratuity.

snooty and inept service, food nothing great. waiter screwed up the order and chided us for using the wrong plates for the bread and onion rings!

my steak was the 18 ounce aged new york bone. ive had better. the steak was ok but no that flavorful and hard to cut, not tender . for 60 bucks im sure i could get a better steak in this town.

but the waiter was the worst part. he kept bragging about having worked there for 38 years. like we were supposed to kiss his ass for carrying food to our table. and then he gets the soup and salad order switched between our table and the next. maybe the old fruit should pack it in or not be such a jackass.

i hadn't been to ringside burnside since the re-opening. the inside was updated but kind of the same. same onion rings which are fine. but i dont like being treated like crap and then given food that isnt top notch. there are other restaurants in town if the ringside isnt special anymore.
