nothing bad to say about orsay.... we were invited out for a friends birthday dinner. we had a large party and they were more then accomidating. i had the croque madame sandwhich which was amazing. one of the best sandwhiches i have ever had and my boyfriend had the steak and frites. a juicy peice of well seasoned steak and tasty fries cooked in duck fat. the atmosphere and food and not to mention the awesome service, all added up to a great experience and we will be going back for sure.

tops. my wife and i love to eat out. though we now live in northern florida and summer near asheville, both of which we're very fond of, we often miss the food extravaganza that our former home in new york offered. asheville is becoming a really hot destination, with lots of innovation, but jacksonville has had a dearth of exciting places for a city of its size. having read reviews of orsay for some time, i was dying to go, but hesitant at the same time, in fear that it would not live up to its stellar ratings. well, it does. four of us dined there last night, and ate and drank ourselves into a blissful happiness. particularly recommended are the apalachicola oysters, the escargots, gazpacho (offered as soup du jour on our visit), the wonderful eden farms berkshire pork chop, and the pan roasted fish. oh, and the chocolate bouchon and apple pecan bread pudding! can't wait to return........

high expectations not met completely:
easy comparison would be to the gold standard this side of the atlantic - balthazar nyc. orsay is on the learning curve, albeit on the ascent. orsay's "french" bread was mystifying as it had neither crispy crust, airy insides nor slight saltiness of a paris baguette. perhaps french pantry on our own powers ave can lend a hand in the bread department eh? the mussels, although immersed in a delicate wine sauce, were disappointing in their size; are not pei mussels more substantial/heftier than the baby/juvenile ones offered recently? the hamburger was accompanied by traditional frites, and yes the frites were outstanding but the hamburger bun was again, not "french". appetizer bread and sandwich bread nearly tasted store bought, not baked fresh and lacking crustiness and character. the omelet was however heavenly and pillowy but the eggs a la orsay were again on the tiny side; the hollandaise was a mere sheen to the tiny poached things and not a glorious veil over glorious orbs one expects of eggs benedict (but these are eggs orsay and is this why they are but a shadow of the benedict?). the pear tart was well made and the latte, bloody marys and the mimosas are all passable. the theatrics of wait staff passing around with specific duties was nice and one felt tended to, but orsay is a long ways away from balthazar figuratively, and orsay must start with its bread. pls give french pantry a call for professional help in the bread department. a last suggestion: make the regular menu available during brunch as although brunch was adequate, some diners may want to order from the dinner menu.

not bad.. i went to orsay tonight for the first time... service was great, atmosphere was exceptional... prices were ok. i wasn't blown away from the dishes or drinks i ordered... i would give orsay a second chance being i did order items i had never tried before i.e. (steak tartare) a couple of drinks... the corn chowder was exceptional however; and as much as i'd like to say it was a phenomenal experience... just wasn't this go around... i'll give it another shot and review once again. to sum it up though - was not dissapointing, just not up to what i expected.

we went to orsay for my birthday december 21st. it was amazing. the atmosphere was great and our server was always right on point. you must get the cheese plate and the trois foie mousse. and the steak frittes might be the best steak in town, especially considering it is only $23. i can not wait to go back. amazing meal.

i've had several great dining experiences here. yes, some misses but generally great. recommend the filet mignon, steak frites, haricot vert salad, sea scallop tartar and creme brulee. their cocktails are some of the best in the city. very  good service, although a little over-attentive at times. a server once took my drink that was sitting in front of me before i had finished. love their happy hour and the ambiance is great.

great fine dining. the pork chop was well cooked and tasted divine, service was spot on. the whole experience made you feel like you were at a over the top fancy restaurant but had such a casual laid back feel. definitely one of the top spots in jax.

go here. attention to detail is what you expect from a place like this and it's exactly what you get. they're not infallible, but this place is as close to perfect as it comes in jax. servers are knowledgable and thoughtful and you can tell they value their clientele.

i'd argue brunch is the best dining value in town. happy hour is a great deal, too, if you like oysters and great specialty cocktails. sorry gulf of mexico oysters- i have seen the light.

bottom line- nobody's doing it better in jax right now.

excellent dining for jacksonville. loved the whole experience, we went back 2 saturday nights in a row. might try to make it there once a month, the food is so good. prepared as fine dining should be. corkage fee is low and encourages you to bring in your own special bottle of wine. only downside, is the drive from the beach, but it's worth it, since the beach does not have any quality dining options. highly recommend. worth the price. escargot, pate, seafood and filet, all excellent! chic ambiance.
