updated american executed well. visited first time on strong recommendation of two friends. very nice ambience, very good wine list, varied but well executed menu, and very good service. the particulars:
reserved online requesting a river view. we were greated by name immediately escorted to agreattable. the wine list is extensive, is well sorted and described, and includes about 2 dozen by the glass....and 4 pages of beers. started with a chef's cheese plate, 4 cheeses + jamon and chorizo - all excellant and enough for three to share. soup of the day was morel with vegatables: a big hit with two of our party. caesar salad was well executed version of the classic. pork trio was was beautifully presented on a rectangular platter including seared tenderloin with a spicy dry rub, shredded pork braised in apple cider, berkshire bacon and sauteed baby spinach.
the entire dish was beautifully executed - the only gripe was the tiny quantity of the spinach - i wanted more and needed more veg to balance out the richness of the pork dishes. cajun mac -n - cheese was received as was the delmonico steak. our group enjoyed a trio of dessert miniatures with a very nice italian moscato. overall our service was well above average for this metro area, the only missteps being; we felt slightly rushed, and when asked for a recommendation between two dishes, we were informed that "the fish is not that good". perhaps, a too honest observation offered by an otherwise very good server. overall, we found red's to be very enjoyable and a good value.
