rafferty's restaurant & bar

it had been years since i had been to rafferty's and will not be back. normally i am not one to write a bad review but i felt rafferty's needs to know where to improve. service was minimal but i would have been okay with not so good service if the food wasn't horrible for the price. my motherordereda burger medium well, it was closer to rare maybe medium it had blood running from it and she could not eat it, iorderedchicken tenders which looked more like a kids meal and the chicken had no taste. the fries on both those meals were burnt and cold we did not eat those. my sonordereda sirloin steak well done and it was burnt. i cut it up for him and it was very tough and charred all around the edges were it was burnt.  he was hungry so he ate this but i would have sent it back.  my sons and my meal was $43.00 for the price we could have ate at malone's or a much nicer restaurant. my mother and i ended up going through taco bell after leaving here. we were both very disappointed.  not once did our waitress ever ask us how the food was or come to check on us until we had been done for over 20 minutes.  she did ask if we wanted a box but at this point we just wanted our checks and to go.

where do i begin? service was inconsistent, and was either extremely hyper or rude (throughout dinner, a total of five different employees visited our table, and so it was difficult to determine who our actual waiter/waitress was). for an appetizer, weorderedthe queso dip and chips, which should not be a menu item (cold and under-seasoned chips, close to no pico, and a bowl of queso that tasted like it came directly from a jar and with no additional seasoning). for entrees, iorderedthe bluegrass special, which consisted of overcooked chicken breast, and a layer of barely melted monterey jack cheese that slid right off the sandwich, and my wifeordereda cheeseburger, medium well, although it was served medium. the highlights of the meal included the fries and the baked sweet potato; however, if you are looking for casual americana, go down the road to cheddar's.

$3.49 add a salad, huh?. oh well... we went because we were in hamburg after a movie and we could sit outside on this gorgeous day. however it was quite depressing because we are starting to feel the cost of dining out when you can't get what you really want or have gotten used to having the salads included with an entree that costs over $15. it's worth the money with all the bacon they add but really would like to see them include the salad and add $ if you want bacon. but it was delicious! everything the pork chop was moist and mash potato were creamy. i had the ranch chicken wrap, because it was light and could add the salad and stay around $11. my daughterorderedthe salmon and hated the sauce brown sugar bourbon. she is used to mandarin oranges, how we make it at home. over all we will go back because the wood grill smells beacon our senses every time.

very good. my husband ate here with my dad. heordereda house salad with ranch dressing, ribeye steak (medium), and baked potato. he said the service was excellent and the steak was good. he had no complaints. my only complaint is that since i don't like baked potatoes, i order french fries everywhere we go. french fries don't come with any of the meals i order so rafferty's charges $2 more for them. this is why we never eat here. i refuse to pay $2 more for fries.
