radio cairo

an old favourite we hadn’t visited in a few years and it’s still outstanding. lovely atmosphere, goodserviceand excellent food. can’t recommend enough and it won’t be so long between visits next time.

i have been to radio cairo on a number of occasions- amazing food!!! could eat there every day! however i was there with a friend on saturday night and we both got the impression that they were doing us a huge favour for allowing us to be there! theirservicewas poor with a waitress who seriously had attitude issues and no experience! this was seriously disappointing particularly at the end when we had decided that they did not deserve a tip but they still asked us for one?!?

different still delicious! came across this place while we were wandering for food in cremorne. the ambience was great and theservicewas good too. we got settled within five minutes. we asked for recommendations and found ourselves stuffed with food till the end. loved their chicken curry and the quesadillas.

theservicehere is the worse experience in a restaurant i have ever had. we prebooked a table well in advance for my birthday celebrations only to find on arrival it had been given away to a group. this was right on opening. we were escorted near the noisy bar/ busy thoroughfare where there was a draft, and well away from the window, and when this problem was raised the staff very extremely rude and hostile, and we were told , 'if you don't like it you can leave, we don't care'. would never recommend this place, we felt so uncomfortable and amazed by how rude they were, we ended up going elsewhere.

very disappointing! the banquet food portion was not enough at all! we all left there hungry while we paid $55 (including $5.5 byo surcharge). they forced us to take banquet option as we booked a big table! such a silly!
the quality of food was average, but the value for mony was terrible as like as theirserviceand hospitality!

the food was delicious but not enough. we were 8adults and 3kids and they told us just because you booked, you have to get our banquet menu, $45 per person!!! we asked to order different food but they told us you have to pay at least $35 per person!!! also they charged $5.5 per person for byo and %10 surcharge forserviceso it ended up $55 per person and believe me that was not enough food. they are just thinking about how to get money and client is worthless for them. in between i tried to say all of this to one of staffs but she just said sorry.

really cool place, great food, off the beaten track. if you are over the traditional thai/italian/modern australian, try this: jamaican, african, moroccan, cuban, indian... and various other influences... from my perspective, this is a welcome distraction compared to the usual stuff. the atmosphere is casual yet edgy, theservicecan be a little stressed at times and the music is actually really cool. this restaurant is patronised by locals, movies goers, families, a really good mix. go there for the food, you will eat things you've never tasted before and you will go around the world in just one meal. i really like the fact that there is a story of passionate people who've travelled lots behind this.

horrible food,serviceand atmosphere. started by having an option of 3 weird tables. asked strangely if we want to drink our own wine...they are byo but don't seem to like you bringing your own wine..?? said the corkage was maybe $4.40...had to ask if it actually was that much?

crispy fried w.a. whitebait with sweet hot sauce & roast garlic mayonnaise

came out as:
plainly fried whitebait served with sweet chili sauce and bottle mayo

rest of the meal was average at best, dry cous cous, pork knuckle special was a stand out but by then the meal was ruined by a restaurant that clearly doesn't care.

we had the ribs and slow cooked lamb shanks and both were incredible. they were also generous servings (even for 2 men). the drink menu is impressive and the cajun popcorn/afro fries and understated. will be back but will b sure to book in advance!

absolutely not recommended. beyond disappointed! being a local i have been quite a few times to this restaurant, although theservicehas been a bit up and down over the years, last night resembled something out of a comedy. our table were served (not at all) by 2 waitresses and 1 waiter. after having cut through the clutter of the waiters private conversation, we managed to order an extra bowl of cous cous. it never arrived. when we pointed it out to the waiter (?) he said we wouldn't be charged. yet, it was on the bill. it took us 15 minutes to get the attention so that we could order dessert and equally long in order to even get to ask for the bill. the food was very average but theservice- far below average. i'm still in chock. and it was not cheap. if you want a good night, with good food and reasonableservice- go somewhere else.

expensive. i would agree that this place makes great food however it is highly over priced for the small portion sizes you are served....for the cost of the meal we paid for 2, we could have eaten across the road at the great papaya thai, paid half the amount we did and left with very full (and satisfied) bellies!
howeverserviceis quiet good (if not even abit too quick!). make sure to book in advance - and request a table away from the large sliding door.
