this the weirdest restaurant menu ive seen, in fact the whole experience of dining at rc is surprising. the beer list is different, thefoodis different. this is a restaurant to drive across town for. i don't quite know how to describe it - its bustling, cosy, popular, a bit chaotic, noisy. its also brilliant. thefoodin theory has african origins but i suspect its rather more eclectic and global than that. have a look at the menu above and try to work out what you'd have - my suggestion is everything! i haven't had a mediocre dish or a mediocre evening at cairo, its seriously different. the dishes aren't fancy or overworked, they are sort of comfortfoodfrom another culture - with global appeal.
the beer list includes bottles from every subcontinent - honestly this place is seriously good.

thefoodat radio cairo is always great, but we won’t be going back as we had no service. our table was left with no attention. we ordered the tasting menu for the whole table and there wasn’t enough portions for everyone, we had to ask for more. then we were told the bar had closed at 9.30pm (on a saturday) without any warning, which meant we couldn’t get any more drinks to go with our food. so disappointing as it was a birthday meal and i’d moved our time to the second sitting, at 8pm, to ensure we wouldn’t get rushed out..

great food, great vibe!. in short, absolutely awesome. thefoodwas incredibly good with many different flavour combinations with perfect portion sizes. the ambience was vibrant with great funk music and friendly relaxed staff. in general a very relaxed place with a cool atmosphere and great food. i don't normally write reviews but felt compelled after this really positive experience.

we had the piri piri prawns, the sirloin strips and the snapper and all were awesome! just the right amount of flavours. for dessert we had the vanilla lanka and arabic coffee which rounded out a great meal.

just got home from a lovely evening at radio cairo. this restaurant'sfoodwas delicious; each dish on the menu is unique- i've never come across any of these dishes at any of the restaurants i've been to before.
for entree i had the dwaaba and jungle bread. the dwaaba is now my new favourite cocktail, a mix of honey/lemon/lime and spirits. i've ordered a few over priced cocktails lately that i have not enjoyed any of them, but this one was sweet but not sickly. the jungle bread was amazing! this entree was a bargain at just $13.95.
my main was the buzzard and sweet potato curry, again delicious. but it's quite a small serve so you need to get a few side dishes. the cuban juju sirloin slippers were great but the lamb shanks were way too spicey for my liking.

food was not freshly cooked. when we told them, they said the restaurant re-opened 3 days ago so thefoodwas definitely fresh. when we said it definitely wasn’t, they said thanks for coming and how would we like to pay. we said we will pay no problem but just providing feedback. they didn’t care in the least and just completely ignored what we said. also, the bill for 2 people was just over 100 aud without any drinks. that was 2 starters and 2 mains.

we will not go here again.

radio cairo is one of those places where you will always be very satisfied, thefoodis great, can highly recommend the moroccan lamb, the beef, the vegetarian curry and of course the afro fries. the staff are very friendly, even though it is always busy, and the bar is very comprehensive. we usually order takeaway from here but enjoy the ambience of the restaurant every now and then.

stung by excessive $16.50 corkage and sunday surcharge.  was told that the charges are indicated on the door and my responsibility to check. well, they are not on the door. the signage is placed on the glass windows 7 foot above ground level - not in most people's line of sight or peripheral vision. the staff had two opportunities to inform me or check that i was aware of both charges and did not. thefoodwas satisfactory. won't be returning.

i think this is a fantastic place to socialise. they do great cocktails and the place is interestingly decorated. the menu is also interesting with a lot of diversity. however, i thought thefoodwas a bit disappointing. we ordered the hikkaduwa ‘devilled’ baby octopus curry with turmeric rice, aunt betty's west indian fried chicken, afro fries, south african lamb sosaties, jamaican in new york bbqd jerk pork ribs and the buzzard and sweet potaty curry. my favourite was the octopus curry which i would recommend. the other dishes were good but i was expecting them to be a bit more special.

radio cairo sounded to me like it could be one of thos new fusion restaurants that sydney is a bit fond of these days (i was just at the turkish-mexican mash-up at pazaarfoodcollective recently). and there is a definite charm (and contemporary feeling) to the owner of the restaurant, srian perera, introducing himself on the menu as of ‘sri lankan (wijeyekoon), english (martin), irish (kennedy), scottish (anderson), german jewish (de worms), and portuguese (perera) descent’.

incredible place! i can't believe it was my first time eating here last night - the food, atmosphere and people are amazing. definitely going in my books as one of my favourites - the atmosphere andfooditself is incredible, and you can see it made right behind you. we ordered the eggplant pomegranate dip with papadums which is honestly one of my favourite dishes ever! the flavours combined were exquisite and i find myself constantly craving it now even now! we then shared two mains - morrocan spiced lamb and beef rump and potato curry. incredible. honestly some of the tastiest and most beautifully spiced meats i have ever had, and the curry is the type of curry i absolutely adore. this place is amazing and i highly recommend it to anyone!!

radio cairo is one of the rare gems in sydney. thefoodis generally tasty and flavourful.

i ordered chicken wings and the wings were cooked twice - making it extra flavourful and addictive. this is a must eat dish.

the grilled snapper came with a refreshing salad. the snapper was a bit too salty and overdone though. i would certainly return to try another mains.

very disappointing! the banquetfoodportion was not enough at all! we all left there hungry while we paid $55 (including $5.5 byo surcharge). they forced us to take banquet option as we booked a big table! such a silly!
the quality offoodwas average, but the value for mony was terrible as like as their service and hospitality!
