best place in dc. from the time i first visited proof, i knew it would be the beginning of a great love affair. the food, the wine, and the service are nothing short of spectacular. don't get fooled by imitators or cheesy reviews of any other spot!i would certainly recommend that anyone really trying to experience whatproofhas to offer should order the chef's selection with wine pairing- it will, without a doubt- be one of the best dining decisions you could ever make.

truly enjoyable dining experience. i eat out in dc a lot (i work here for a few months at a time) andproofis the best dining experience i have had so far. i was feeling summery and ordered the gruner veltliner- lovely. for my entree i got the pekin duck breast- perfect. i figured i was already 2 for 2 and ordered the chocolate hazelnut cake with espresso gelato- yum! to sum up, great spot to people watch, great wine list, great food, and great service. i'll be back!

ever since meeting scott 3 years ago, i have spent every birthday evening at a different and highly recommended dc restaurant. my first birthday together was spent at zaytinya , last year we celebrated at rose’s luxury , and this year was the highly anticipated and long awaitedproofin penn quarter, dc. it seems the boy really ups the ante every year, and i left another birthday dinner on cloud 9. having been more than impressed with their sister restaurants, ( estadio , doi moi , and 2 birds 1 stone ) the bar was set high for proof. the excitement mounted exponentially when they were recently nominated for the rammys as  best wine program  and best upscale casual restaurant. we couldn’t agree more.

vegetarians who also are wine lovers will fall in with loveproof, the first of a trio of first-class sister restaurants that also include estadio and doi moi (read my write-ups of the those two here and here ).  proofis a romantic wine bar located in dc's penn quarter/chinatown neighborhood.  the dinner menu changes seasonally, but as noted on the washington, dc restaurants page of this website, it always offers a number of hearty meat-free appetizers, salads, and cheese plates, in addition to several tasty side dishes.  fortunately for me, my favorite vegetarian entree -- the napoleon of crispy tofu, wild mushrooms, and spring vegetables -- is a year-round staple . napoleon of crispy tofu, wild mushrooms, and spring vegetables, including baby bok choy, snow peas, green beans, and served with a sweet chili garlic sauce

a few nights ago i had plans with a friend who i haven't seen in awhile and we were searching for the perfect place to go where we could catch up, celebrate the new year, and have delicious food and wine. after some back and forth we settled onproofwhich we both happen to love, and we were looking forward to going back since neither of us had been in awhile. i love the fact thatproofis just a few steps from the bustling verizon center, but once you step inside you would never know. it has a wonderful atmosphere with dim lights, a great bar area that serves wines on tap, and comfortable booths towards the back that create a quiet and warm setting. the service is always great, and the waiters tend to be incredibly knowledgeable about the wines and the menu which i always appreciate.

all in all, the service was spectacular, the wine was exquisite, and the food was good. next time, we may just come for drinks and appetizers though. the meal itself with wine was pricey -- in the end we paid over $200 including tip. if i am going to spend that kind of money, i can think of a few other places in the city i'd rather go. that said, i'm glad we went to experienceproofand certainly enjoyed the experience. if they were to offer a new vegan entree at some point, we would definitely return.

simply incredible. the food, wine, atmosphere and service were impeccable! made for a fantastic evening!!!
the cheese plates and the charcuterie were unbelievably decadent, especially paired with a lovely white wine. i suggest forgoing the main course plates and ordering a few first course plates and some meats and cheeses to share with the table - it's a great way to keep the palate fresh and experience all thatproofhas to offer.
the food was all so fresh and mostly local, which is a nice bonus. can't wait to go back!

while i have been toprooffor dinner (really good, but not great) and more times than i can count for drinks (both the wines by the glass and cocktails are excellent), this was my first lunch trip.

a pleasant surprise. on my recent visit to dc i had originally made reservations with legal seafood but while waiting for my table i stumbled uponproof& decided to eat there after reviewing the creative menu and the maitre'd was able to immediately seat us. the decor was very nice; comfortable, nice size & acoustics were great for conversating & not yelling. the waitress was very accommodating and very attentive throughout the entire meal. the wine list was very comprehensive and intimidating so i asked for the sommelier & gave him some basic criteria and an under $70 price range, he recommended an excellent wine for $38, kudos to the sommelier! when the food arrived it was excellent. presentation, amount & temperature were dead on.
being from houston, fearing eating out at overpriced/under proportioned lacklustered meals which i've had in past trips this was a pleasant surprise and would recommend it to anyone visiting dc.
