underwhelmed. seriously underwhelmed. location and view spectacular but doesn't compensate for the pretentiously overpriced and poorly prepared, ordinary tasting food. entrees: pumpkin agniolotti should be renamed to the correct singular form of agniolotto! ok but pasta tasted prepackaged "fresh". scallops looked lonely... 3 on the plate size of 10 cent pieces. seriously?! main of moreton bay bug and fish fillet; nqr. flavouring not to my liking and undercooked. picked 3 bones out of my fish fillet. desserts: mandarin ice cream ok. mandarin segment tough and full of pips. roasted fig with spiced rice and honeycomb with quince paste was delicious. thankfully.
chardonnay very nice. service adequate but slow. we also were asked if we enjoyed the wine and not whether we also enjoyed the food. probably because they know the answer! like another reviewer i also had a tummy upset when i got home. i suspect the moreton bay bugs!

wouldn't go back for dinner. we live locally and have had lunch and tasting platters at port phillip estate. everything was lovely but i certainly would not go back for dinner again. the value for money is just not there. the portion sizes were embarrassingly small and the quality was really not up to scratch. my fish was tasteless with a watery sauce. the dessert tasted like it had been made a fair while ago. the best part of the night was my company, the wine and the friendly service. not enough considering the prices.

so disappointing. fabulous venue and great wine but below average food and service... particularly for the price they are charging.

here is nothing better than a beautiful glass of wine, unless it is a beautiful glass of wine with a great view! trading plates headed down to the mornington peninsula to check out port phillip estate , one of the newest and most spectacular wineries in the area.

great location. view was amazing.
i chose the 2 course menu and had main and dessert. the main was a little small in fact the dessert was bigger imo. desserts were amazing. would have liked to try all of them. place was very full for a saturday lunch.

they also had good options for kids. my son had the pork belly with a small salad and potatoes and for dessert vanilla bean ice cream.

every time i go i regret it! for entree i ordered "cured trout". it was literally smoked trout from a packet with olive oil on top - unacceptable! for main i ordered the duck. the fat hadn't been rendered, no crispy skin and the meat was dry. very disappointing. for dessert i ordered lemon tart. this was their only redeeming meal- it was yummy! but at the price tag of $95 pp - i am not impressed that i got a yummy tart! never again

this was a perfect choice for a birthday celebration! we were seated next to the window and had such a spectacular view during our meal. the service was professional and very attentive. plus the food not only tasted incredible, each meal was plated up in such a beautiful way. the three of us chose three courses, and literally nothing disappointed us. they even personalised my friends dessert with a candle for her bday! would highly recommend dining here, particularly for a special occasion!

undecided. we dined recently at port phillip estate and came away with a slightly mixed view. the place itself is excellent, lovely architecture and superb views with a lovely warmth to the whole environment. the staff were fine and the wine list good, the wines we chose (by the glass) couldn't be faulted especially the chardonnay., farrago i think it was. the issue was with the food, which wasn't bad, but by the same token, wasn't remarkable either. i think the best dish was the chocolate self saucing pudding which was beautiful and the other desserts were of a similar quality. the mains, a fish, a pheasant and a rabbit were ok but not startling, the scallop entree was fine as was the salad entree but the tuna carpaccio was bland, a surprise given the ingredients. all in all, the meal was good, but was it worth $400? that's the question and i think the answer is no.

looks the part. sorry to say that i was disappointed on most fronts with my experience here.
food, over spiced, poorly matched ingredients, disappointing serving sizes.
service, get out of my face your not my guest and i feel i'm being stalked.
ambience, wow this place has amazing potential with the right management.
wine, lots of their own and it's very nice.
price, our bill was outrageous for the pretentious bistro food they sloshed out.

last weekend, i returned to port phillip estate with my husband in tow and had, “the best $35 lunch i’ve ever had,” according to jude. i have to agree, it was fine dining on a budget. as part of the $35 deal, we both got to choose a starter, entrée and main from their regular cellar door lunch menu. jude opting for an oyster with shallot vinaigrette, beef brisket, and a meat medley casserole; while i went for the parmesan grissini with olive tapenade, squid, and pappardelle with mushrooms. all six dishes were faultless. even the complimentary bread and olive oil, presented in a brown canvas bag, was photo-worthy.

review from january 2017
is there a better lunchtime view in victoria than the one at port phillip estate? rolling vineyard-covered hills, unencumbered sky, and a tiny glimpse of western port bay in the distance. the food's pretty great, too. this pasta-obsessed diner chose noodly dishes for two of her three courses. #sorrynotsorry
first up: queensland spanner crab, nero pasta, puffed rice, crustacean crumble. and to follow: spätzle, heritage cauliflower, capers, brioche, olives.

little something to share!. wonderful wine with a great selection of small sharing plates. warm bread with olive oil is delicious and the warm olives is incredible.

entrees required seasoning but the rest of the dishes were seasoned well. nice food but limited menu if you don’t eat pork or venison. no chicken and only beef was a special wagyu at extra $20.

this is a review from early march that i forgot to post prior to corona lockdown. port phillip estate is a spectacular nuclear bunker overlooking rolling hills. my risotto milanese was spectacular and unfortunately being a starter, was way too small! we found the starters to all be better than the mains. mains were fish, duck and a pork (?) dish and none were very exciting or spectacular. service was a little average too. for a venue that’s pushing itself as fine dining and charging like it’s fine dining, staff could do with some training. overall a nice day out, but not a winner.
