almost couldn't fault our experience here, however, two people in our party ordered the scallop entree and it was extremely bland. it was mainly a plate of cucumber (which was not listed on the menu as a main ingredient). it was also disappointing to have told the manager about it who did little but apologise. not good enough for a place of that standard.

10 out of 10 in every respect. the service was lovely and unobtrusive, the view was spectacular, the ambience was calm and relaxing and the food was top notch. i ordered the duck with boysenberries and elderflower for entree. the duck was some of the best i've had- so tender! then for main i went for the john dory with octopus, macadamia and peas. the fish was perfectly cooked and i loved the addition of the crunching macadamias. we also ordered a side of the sugar snap peas which were vibrant and fresh. in terms of wine i went for the katanook chardonnay which was ideal with my main. i particularly liked the fact that it wasn't overpoweringly oaky.

pretentious food in a beautiful setting best describes this place. very large plates with very small portions and very fancy descriptions for the food. we all had 3 courses and felt like the meals barely touched the sides. if it's a good satisfying meal your after give this place a miss. but if your after a relaxing glass of wine surrounded by beautiful scenery definitely worth a try. not my cup of tea what a let down.

although it is pricey, it is one of my favourite wineries i have ever been to!! when my parents first took me here i was in shock about its beauty! really something special when you are walking in! my beef was delicious (as you can see in the photo) and my gosh was the wine tasty as well! be prepared to snack after the meal (i found) and have no money in your bank account.. but the view is to die for! sitting outside is just as beautiful as inside (as you can see in this photo!)
the staff were lovely when assisting us with wines as well! will be back!

always great ambience, friendly staff and mouth-watering food. you can choose 2/3 dishes per person. tried the spanner crab pasta for their entree/first. delicious, tasty and flavourful. suckling pig was soft, fatty (in a good way) and savoury; the best kind.

absolutely stunning sunday lunch at port phillip estate. we had the three course menu and everything was divine. fresh and full of flavour. we never felt rushed - in fact, we were there for 4 hours! highly recommend.

extraordinarily disappointing.

food either under or over-cooked and lacking seasoning,   service rude and very unhelpful.

food value for money - terrible.

if the service, menu offerings and food matched the building and the views, this could easily be a 2-3 hat venue.

i hope that the owners / management don't just rely on tourism each weekend to drive revenue, and instead try and build regulars from melbourne.

one of my favourite places on the peninsula. spectacular views of the vines on a beautiful day, i guess i have been lucky as every time i have visited port phillip estate, the sun has been out - it's quite breath taking! food is fine dining and the wine is beautiful! as a chardonnay lover, i am in foodie heaven! fabulous, fabulous, fabulous!

celebrated a quiet birthday at port phillip estate with a three course lunch. i must say we loved it! the food was simply amazing, almost too good to eat. the service was brilliant also and the food came out in just the right amount of time. we'll definitely return for another delicious experience. yum!

as hubby reached for the imposing timber door surprisingly it opened automatically in greeting. we entered the grand dining room with polished concrete floor, enormous timber beams and vast array of windows which must afford beautiful views during the day. subtle lighting, white table cloths with black plastic wicker chairs - a minimalist affair.
the house made sourdough was fresh and the butter churned with nori, squid ink and mushroom reduction was interesting although required seasoning.
our mains of beef and pork were both beautifully presented, had layers of complexity, surprise elements and although visually on the small side were satisfying. hubby hit the jackpot with the white chocolate panne cotta and mandarin dessert however my gingerbread soufflé missed the mark tasting of egg rather than of gingerbread although the rhubarb ice cream was a winner.
served from the left, cleared from the right & table 'swept' before desert made for proficient and pleasant service. other than being a little too warm our overall experience was enjoyable and we would love to return during the day to appreciate the vista.
$172 two courses, pino gris, apple cider.

visited port phillip estate for saturday lunch. the building is stunning, from outside and within, it was worth the visit just to see it!
we sat in the cellar door rather than the dining room and as such, had the 3 course set menu for $38. everything was great from start to finish - attentive service, beautiful setting and delicious food and wine. highlights were the cuban sandwich and the polenta chips. lowlight was the ravioli, although it wasn't bad, just not at the same level as the other dishes.
the kooyong haven pinot noir was the pick of the wines we tried.

lovely location, lovely view, lovely dining room. shane they didn't get the chef to make lovely food. the service was pleasant if somewhat delayed, the lady seemed to like avoiding bringing food. when it finally came, it was nice. nice if you like woefully under seasoned bland food. the tuna starter tast
ed of nothing, looked good but tasted of little. even a hint of seasoning could have almost saved it. i opted for the safe main- steak. lovely piece of meat, unseasoned, cooked the way the kitchen fancied, we had 3 at our table, no one was asked how they like it and all 3 were cooked differently. the chef had managed to take an onion and by roasting it, remove all flavour, quite a feat. the interesting pasta garnish was pretty, but tasted of nothing. very disappointing. the deserts my wife and i had were awful. the lavender ice cream was salty and tasted of draino. the panna cotta was more like sludge than panna cotta, but tasted nice. they had managed the de-flavouring trick on an orange segment too. really not good.
the coffee was ok apart from forgetting one out of six and disputing it had been ordered.
if you are considering going here- don't.
the huge bill of course came right on time! might have had more flavour than the food...
