underwhelmed. seriously underwhelmed. location andviewspectacular but doesn't compensate for the pretentiously overpriced and poorly prepared, ordinary tasting food. entrees: pumpkin agniolotti should be renamed to the correct singular form of agniolotto! ok but pasta tasted prepackaged "fresh". scallops looked lonely... 3 on the plate size of 10 cent pieces. seriously?! main of moreton bay bug and fish fillet; nqr. flavouring not to my liking and undercooked. picked 3 bones out of my fish fillet. desserts: mandarin ice cream ok. mandarin segment tough and full of pips. roasted fig with spiced rice and honeycomb with quince paste was delicious. thankfully.
chardonnay very nice. service adequate but slow. we also were asked if we enjoyed the wine and not whether we also enjoyed the food. probably because they know the answer! like another reviewer i also had a tummy upset when i got home. i suspect the moreton bay bugs!

great location.viewwas amazing.
i chose the 2 course menu and had main and dessert. the main was a little small in fact the dessert was bigger imo. desserts were amazing. would have liked to try all of them. place was very full for a saturday lunch.

they also had good options for kids. my son had the pork belly with a small salad and potatoes and for dessert vanilla bean ice cream.

this was a perfect choice for a birthday celebration! we were seated next to the window and had such a spectacularviewduring our meal. the service was professional and very attentive. plus the food not only tasted incredible, each meal was plated up in such a beautiful way. the three of us chose three courses, and literally nothing disappointed us. they even personalised my friends dessert with a candle for her bday! would highly recommend dining here, particularly for a special occasion!

is there a better lunchtimeviewin victoria than the one at port phillip estate? rolling vineyard-covered hills, unencumbered sky, and a tiny glimpse of western port bay in the distance. the food's pretty great, too. this pasta-obsessed diner chose noodly dishes for two of her three courses. #sorrynotsorry
first up: queensland spanner crab, nero pasta, puffed rice, crustacean crumble. and to follow: spätzle, heritage cauliflower, capers, brioche, olives.

we visited port phillip estate for lunch today and the views were just spectacular although sadly our prior window table request saw us seated in the obstructedviewsection on stools. we elected to move and the atmosphere was pleasant nonetheless. staff were friendly and we enjoyed their ‘cheeky lunch’ which at $38 i thought was very reasonable. of course to this we added a side, desserts and wine but well worth it.

you do get to select out of three options for the three courses. the first was the ‘bite’ and i chose a delicious arancini. this preceded the complimentary bread which was really yummy. for my ‘small’ i opted for the flash flied calamari and then the ‘big’ was the sirloin with bernaise. the fries with aoili that we added as a side technically weren’t fries but a chunkier style chip. very tasty regardless.

the sirloin was slightly disappointing in that it was overcooked for my liking. we then had both the desserts on offer, lemon tart and chocolate brownie. a simple sweet way to end the meal.

there is a more prestigious restaurant across the other side of the venue with equivalent views but a more elaborate menu. for the casual nature of our lunch the cellar door was more than agreeable but if you have a special occasion the other is probably more suitable as there is a slight distraction/interruption from those doing tastings, particularly if you are seated closer to the bar.

great location in the mornington peninsula for a winery visit, theviewis breathtaking and the food none the less delicious, we had the barley risotto, mushroom raviolo, rib eye steak and cheese platter. they were all faultless, service was good too the waitress did not stop refilling our wine and water.

really nice place and the food was great. we chose the 3 courses for $95 per head. we were so disappointed with where they sat us. a table for two shoved to the side behind the reception desk. a table shouldn’t have even been put there. ourviewof the window was obstructed by the hazard sticker which was at eyeviewwhen seated and we were overlooking the balcony where people were obstructing theviewof the vineyard. who the heck wants to be looking at people taking photos of theviewyou should be able to see? the waiter even mentioned the nice window seat. i was really unhappy and asked to move but there was no other seating available. there were many two seater tables by the window (as pictured) but the waitress said “no”, i made the reservation a few days before and asked if this was the reason we were given the table and she said “yes” it’s first in best dressed and that was the standard across the industry. we were still paying a premium price just the same as any other person there but for terrible seating! when compared to the rest of the restaurant it was just not up to standard. the pics are of ourviewto the left and then a pic of the rest of the restaurant. completely ripped off! we were unable to even sit opposite each other! dissatisfied- just shoved us in to make money! i would rather have been told they were fully booked at the time of booking and we drove so far to be there. many kids ran up to play the piano we were wedged behind too- annoying!

came here with a bunch of girlfriends, very niceviewand food, enjoyed the wine tasting too. although we found the staff not very friendly and a bit cocky, we were giving cold faces and responses most of the times. this really brought down the quality of our experience.

really enjoyed our family lunch in the restaurant. greatviewover the vineyards to westernport bay in the background. enjoyed the food and the wines equally. spacious dining area with plenty of space between tables. good choice for a celebratory lunch - not cheap but good value.

well, what had happened to this place???!!!! yes theviewis still fabulous but the service and wine underwhelming.

the wines from 2011 were fantastic and you can also buy the wines at dan’s but latest vintages were ‘green’ right across the board. what was happened??? kooyong was a go to wine for consistent quality and style but not any more.

quite disappointing and such a shame!

much better wines and plenty to chose from on the peninsula.

very impressive location and building. beautiful views over the vineyard and westernport bay. ppe have a large range of wines but only 6 were available for tasting. the tasting service was a bit casual - we did not feel very special and obtained more info from the tasting notes than the server. we are lovers of red wines and were not impressed by the reds we tasted under either the port philip estate or kooyong estate labels. we liked the quartier chardonnay and the port philip estate salasso rose. the latter surprised me as i am not a fan of rose but this was very crisp and refreshing. we had lunch in the dining room and ordered a bottle of the salasso rose with our meal. we had a window table with aview- the whole setting is very pleasant. service was very good -the staff were friendly and attentive and offered explanations re the food and wine. it offset the poorer service we received in the tasting room. the menu is restricted but offers some interesting choices. for entrees we chose pork jowl and agnolotto moreton bay bug. both were well presented and very tasty. for mains we chose the venison and roasted hapuka. the latter fish was excellent. the venison was good but uninteresting. the bread was freshly baked in the restaurant's own kitchen and was excellent.

came here for a wine tasting and maybe a bottle of wine.
well, apparently you can't order a bottle of wine unless it's at restaurant rates, you can't have coffee (even for the designated driver) unless you eat in the restaurant and when you get there at 3.45pm, the preparation of closing begins.
out of the 3 wineries i went to today, this was the only one that didn't tell me what wines i was drinking. if it is wasn't for theview(and the wet table i got after i asked for the chairs to the table while they were packing up at 3.45) it would be a 0.
at 20 bucks a glass for the time that i couldn't buy buy the bottle and the lack of coffee i could order cause i had not eaten there, i have no wanting to eat here or try it again.
it's a shame, the place it gorgeous and worth the view.
shame the people that manage it have no idea how to do so.

10 out of 10 in every respect. the service was lovely and unobtrusive, theviewwas spectacular, the ambience was calm and relaxing and the food was top notch. i ordered the duck with boysenberries and elderflower for entree. the duck was some of the best i've had- so tender! then for main i went for the john dory with octopus, macadamia and peas. the fish was perfectly cooked and i loved the addition of the crunching macadamias. we also ordered a side of the sugar snap peas which were vibrant and fresh. in terms of wine i went for the katanook chardonnay which was ideal with my main. i particularly liked the fact that it wasn't overpoweringly oaky.
